A Practical Voltage Error Correction Technique for Distribution System under Distribution Automation Environment

  • Transmission system has been well studied since long time and power system techniques of distribution system are more or less derived from transmission system. However, unlike transmission systems, many practical issues are encountered in the distribution system. Considerable amount of error is observed in voltage obtained from the Feeder Remote Terminal Units (FRTUs) measured by the pole mounted PTs along the distribution feeder. Load uncertainty is also an issue in distribution system. Further, penetration of Distributed Generators (DGs) creates voltage variations in the system. Hybrid radial/ loop distribution system also make it complicated to handle distribution system. How these constraints to be handled under Distribution Automation (DAS) environment in order to obtain error free voltage is described in this paper and therefore, a new approach of voltage error correction technique has been proposed. The proposed technique utilizes reliable data from substation and the FRTUs installed in DAS. The proposed technique adopts an iterative process for voltage error correction. It has been tested and proved accurate not only for conventional radial systems but also for loop distribution systems.

  • 이동국에서 받은 되먹임 정보를 바탕으로 하는 차단 적응 전송 기법을 쓸 때, 여러 반송파 부호분할 다중접속/주파수분할 다중방식의(multi carrier code division multiple access/frequency division multiplexing: MC CDMA/FDM 내림 연결 성능을 알아본다. 셀이 하나일 때 직교 서명수열을 쓰면, 제안한 기법은 여러 반송파 직접 수연 부호분할 다중접속(direct sequence/code division multiple access: MC DS/CDMA) 방식과 적응 주파수 뜀/직접 수열(frequency hopping/direct sequence: FH/DS) 방식보다 성능이 더 좋다. 셀이 여럿일 때에도 직교 서명수열이나 확률 서명수열을 쓰면, 제안한 기법이 적응 주파수 뜀/직접 수열 방식보다 성능이 더 좋다.

  • This paprer presents the evlauation method for transmission marginal loss factors(MLFs) considering the electrical distance. Generally, MLFs are represented as the sensitivity of transmission losses, which is computed from the change of generation by the change of the load. MLFs are classified as load-focused MLFs and generator-focused MLFs. The existing evaluation method for generator focused MLFs has the limit not reflecting the characteristic of power systems since the method has been introduced the assumption which the output of a generator is supplied to all of the load buses on the power system. Therefore, to overcome the limit of evaluation method for generator-focused MLFs, we have applied the process, which it approximately can find the load buses that supplied a generator to the method. We have applied the proposed method to the simple 5-bus system because the proposed method is not analytic but the hybrid method incorporated the Kirschen and Bialek's algorithm to the existing analytic method to find the load buses supplied by a generator.

  • In this paper, mesoscale optical surface structures are found to possess both geometric and wave optics features. The study reveals that geometric optic analysis cannot correctly predict the experimental results of light transmission or reflection by mesoscale optical structures, and that, for reliable analyses, a hybrid approach incorporating both geometric and wave optic theories should be employed. By analyzing the transmission patterns generated by the mesoscale periodic pyramid prism plates, we show that the wave optic feature is mainly ascribed to the edge diffraction effect and we estimate the relative contributions of the wave optic diffraction effect and the geometric refraction effect to the total scattering field distribution with respect to the relative dimension of the structures.

Probabilistic bearing capacity assessment for cross-bracings with semi-rigid connections in transmission towers

  • In this paper, the effect of semi-rigid connections on the stability bearing capacity of cross-bracings in steel tubular transmission towers is investigated. Herein, a prediction method based on the hybrid model which is a combination of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and backpropagation neural network (BPNN) is proposed to accurately predict the stability bearing capacity of cross-bracings with semi-rigid connections and to efficiently conduct its probabilistic assessment. Firstly, the establishment of the finite element (FE) model of cross-bracings with semi-rigid connections is developed on the basis of the development of the mechanical model. Then, a dataset of 7425 samples generated by the FE model is used to train and test the PSO-BPNN model, and the accuracy of the proposed method is evaluated. Finally, the probabilistic assessment for the stability bearing capacity of cross-bracings with semi-rigid connections is conducted based on the proposed method and the Monte Carlo simulation, in which the geometric and material properties including the outer diameter and thickness of cross-sections and the yield strength of steel are considered as random variables. The results indicate that the proposed method based on the PSO-BPNN model has high accuracy in predicting the stability bearing capacity of cross-bracings with semi-rigid connections. Meanwhile, the semi-rigid connections could enhance the stability bearing capacity of cross-bracings and the reliability of cross-bracings would significantly increase after considering semi-rigid connections.

  • A new efficientcoding system which can transmit video conferenceof viedeophone signals at a 64kbps is proposed.   • MIMO(multi-input multi-output) 시스템은 여러 개의 송 수신기를 이용하여 정보를 전송하여 주파수 대역폭의 확장 없이 채널 용량을 증가시킨다. 그러나 공간 다이버시티를 증가시키는 STBC(space time block code)를 제외한 공간 다중화 방식을 사용하는 LDC(linear dispersion code) 시스템은 변조 레벨이 증가할수록 수신기의 복잡도가 기하급수적으로 높아진다. 본 논문에서는 하이브리드 LDC-MIMO 시스템을 적용하여 낮은 변조 레벨에서도 전송량을 증가시키면서 수신기의 복잡도를 감소시킬 수 있는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리듬은 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 검증하였다.

전도성 고분자 물질이 결합된 하이브리드 커플러를 적용한 RF 가스 센서 (RF Gas Sensor Using 4-Port Hybrid Coupler with Conducting Polymer)

  • 본 논문에서는 2.4 GHz에서 동작하는 $90^{\circ}$ 하이브리드 커플러 구조에 전도성 고분자 화합물을 적용한 가스 센서를 제안하였다. 가스 센서에서 전도성 고분자 화합물(Conducting Polymer: CP)는 특정 가스를 검출하는 검출 물질로 사용되며, 특정 가스와 반응할 때 대개 물질의 일함수(work function)와 전도도(conductivity) 및 임피던스가 변하게 된다. 이러한 물성변화 특성의 근거로 마이크로파 대역에서 $90^{\circ}$ 하이브리드 커플러 구조에 전도성 고분자를 적용하여 가변 감쇄기 및 가변 위상 천이기 형태의 센서를 제작하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 센서는 전도성 고분자 화합물의 높은 전도도를 이용하여 기존 전송선로의 일부를 전도성 고분자 물질로 대체하였다. 실험은 온도 $28^{\circ}$와 상대습도 85 % 환경에서 진행되었으며, 센서에 100 ppm 농도의 에탄올 가스를 노출시켰다. 그 결과, $S_{21}$의 진폭 특성이 최대 0.13 dB 변하였고, ${\angle}S_{21}=360^{\circ}$를 만족하는 주파수가 2.875 MHz 이동한 것을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 주파수 선택적 투과막(FSS)이 결합된 복합재료 구조에서 구성 재료 간의 열팽창계수 차이로 잔류응력이 발생하므로 이로 인한 층간분리나 FSS의 손상 등 구조적인 파손 가능성과 잔류응력으로 인하여 변형된 FSS가 전파투과특성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구하였다. FSS는 단위요소의 종류, 설계변수, 배열에 따라 전파특성이 다르게 나타나므로, PSO 알고리즘을 이용하여 다이폴이 목표주파수에서 투과특성을 갖도록 설계하고 그 설계치수를 다른 N-pole 종류 단위요소(Tripole, Cross dipole, Jerusalem cross)에 적용하여, 복합재료 구조에 발생하는 잔류응력과 그로인한 구조적 손상과 전파 특성을 영향성을 관찰하고 FSS패턴과 복합재료의 적층 변화에 따라 비교하였다.

  • In recent years, world is faced with a transportation energy dilemma, and the transportation is almost dependent on a single fuel - petroleum. However, Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) technology holds more advantages to reduce the demand for petroleum in the transportation by efficiency improvements of petroleum consumption. Therefore, there is a trend that lower gear noise levels are demanded in HEV for drivers to avoid annoyance and fatigue during operation. And meshing transmission error (T.E.) is the excitation that leads to the tonal noise known as gear whine, and radiated gear whine is also the dominant source of noise in the whole gearbox. In this paper, the analysis of gear tooth profile and lead modification is firstly presented, and then, the different transmission error of no mesh misalignment and mesh misalignment under one loaded torque for the 1st gear pair of HEV gearbox was investigated and compared. At last, the appropriate tooth modification was used to minimize and compare the transmission error of the gear pair with mesh misalignment under the loaded torque.
