A method of interactive human interface for motion modification of an articulated object model like a human body, a multiple joints robot, etc. has been developed, and implemented to a human body motion model. In the case of computer software models, the initial data setting for overall motion is rather easy. However, modifying or correcting the initially set motion is rather difficult for keeping consistency. In this research, the requirements shown below have mainly been set as the specifications ...
Up to now, many studies on human-machine interface with voice systems have been reported. However, in these systems, precise instructions are necessary for a robot to execute given tasks successfully. In order to make a robot friendly, more ambiguous instructions with some kinds of degree adverbs (, e.g., "move it a little", "lift it more" and so on, ) will be preferable. Therefore, we analyze the relationship between ambiguous instructions and the characteristics of instructed human motion in positioning task to design human friendly interface systems. Several experimental results show that adverbial expressions are mainly divided into three clusters corresponding to the displacement, and that instructors and perators have several differences in distance sense each other.
We propose a speech emotion recognition method for natural human-robot interface. In the proposed method, emotion is classified into 6 classes: Angry, bored, happy, neutral, sad and surprised. Features for an input utterance are extracted from statistics of phonetic and prosodic information. Phonetic information includes log energy, shimmer, formant frequencies, and Teager energy; Prosodic information includes pitch, jitter, duration, and rate of speech. Finally a patten classifier based on Gaussian support vector machines decides the emotion class of the utterance. We record speech commands and dialogs uttered at 2m away from microphones in 5different directions. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields 59% classification accuracy while human classifiers give about 50%accuracy, which confirms that the proposed method achieves performance comparable to a human.

A human-friendly interactive system that is based on the harmonious symbiotic coexistence of human and robots is explored. Based on this interactive technology paradigm, a robotic cane is proposed for blind or visually impaired travelers to navigate safely and quickly through obstacles and other hazards faced by blind pedestrians. The proposed robotic cane, "RoJi,” consists of a long handle with a button-operated interface and a sensor head unit that is attached at the distal end of the handle. A series of sensors, mounted on the sensor head unit, detect obstacles and steer the device around them. The user feels the steering command as a very noticeable physical force through the handle and is able to follow the path of the robotic cane easily and without any conscious effort. The issues discussed include methodologies for human-robot interactions, design issues of an interactive robotic cane, and hardware requirements for efficient human-robot interactions.ions.
The Human Robot Interface (HRI) based on 3D depth sensor on the docent robot is developed and the localization algorithm based on extended Kalman Filter (EKFLA) are proposed through the capstone design by graduate students in this paper. In addition to this, the performance of the proposed EKFLA is also analyzed. The developed HRI system consists of the route generation and localization algorithm, the user behavior pattern awareness algorithm, the map data generation and building algorithm, the obstacle detection and avoidance algorithm on the robot control modules that control the entire behaviors of the robot. It is confirmed that the improvement ratio of the localization error in EKFLA on the scenarios 1-3 is increased compared with the localization algorithm based on Kalman Filter (KFLA) as 21.96%, 25.81% and 15.03%, respectively.

Unmanned military vehicles (UMVs) are most commonly characterized as dealing with dull, dirty, and dangerous tasks with automation. Although most of the UMVs are designed to a high degree of autonomy, the human operator will still intervene in the robot's operation, and teleoperate them to achieve his or her mission. Thus, operator capacity, together with robot autonomy and user interface, is one of the most important design factors in the research and development of the UMVs. Further, communication may affect the operator task performance. In this paper, we analyze the operator performance and the communication effects on the operator performance by using the extended Petri nets, called OTSim nets. The OTSim nets was designed by the authors, being extended using pure Petri nets.

The goal of this paper is to select and analyze the sound for robot which can help and serve the big retail market, as the part of research for design foundation development of Human Robot Interface. The sounds which are related with activity, such as thanks, reject, agony, absurdity, gladness, approval, were selected among targeted sounds with 2 step SD method. The result for using Quantitative analysis model-3 with psychological similar degree of selected sound was argued with 'the brightness of sound' and 'violent of sound'.
This paper present a novel approach to control the lower body power assistive exoskeleton system of a HEXAR-CR35 aimed at improving a muscular strength. More specifically the control of based on the human intention is crucial of importance to ensure intuitive and dexterous motion with the human. In this contribution, we proposed the detection algorithm of the human intention using the MCRS which are developed to measure the contraction of the muscle with variation of the circumference. The proposed algorithm provides a joint motion of exoskeleton corresponding the relate muscles. The main advantages of the algorithm are its simplicity, computational efficiency to control one joint of the HEXAR-CR35 which are consisted knee-active type exoskeleton (the other joints are consisted with the passive or quasi-passive joints that can be arranged by analyzing of the human joint functions). As a consequence, the motion of exoskeleton is generated according to the gait phase: swing and stance phase which are determined by the foot insole sensors. The experimental evaluation of the proposed algorithm is achieved in walking with the exoskeleton while carrying the external mass in the back side.

Using home network system including home server, home service robot, a variety of device, it is generally known that application of Multi Agent System for performing variously distributed process that can be occur in home environment, is efficient method. In this system, it is intelligent service robot that a key of human interface and physical service offer Therefore, using application of established multi agent system, we can defined Multi Agent Robot System. In 'open' home environment, between all agent data interaction and cooperation are needed for Multi Agent System offer to user that more efficient service. For this, we focus our attention on define as agent that can autonomic drive and offer to user that physical service robots and, design, suggest the simulator can display that between robot agents communication or between other agents, like home server, and robot agents communication information to user interface.
In this study, an anthropomorphic robot Hand, called "SKKU Hand III" is presented. The hand has thirteen DOF(Degree-Of-Freedom) and is designed based on the skeletal structure of the human hand. Each finger module(except thumb module) has three DOF and four joints with a saddle joint mechanism which has two DOF at the base joint. Two distal joints of the finger module are mechanically coupled by a timing belt and pulleys. The thumb module is composed of a finger module and an additional actuator, which makes it possible to realize the opposition between the thumb and the other fingers. In addition, the palm DOF of the human hand is mimicked with a spatial link mechanism between the index finger and the thumb. Thus, it can grasp objects more stably and more strongly. For the modularization of the robotic hand all the driving circuits are embedded in the hand, and only the communication lines supporting CAN protocol with DC power cable are given as an interface. Therefore, it is possible to apply it to any robot system the interface. To validate the feasibility of the SKKU Hand III, a series of the representative grasp experiments such as power, precision, intermediate grasp etc. are carried out with the object around us and its operation is demonstrated.
