A Study on Design Elements of Main Control Room in Nuclear Power Plants by Analyzing Space Characteristics (원자력발전소 주제어실의 공간특성에 따른 디자인 요소에 관한 연구)

  • For guaranteeing for security of nuclear power plant, ergonomic factors have been applied to design of main control room, core area for management and control of nuclear power plant, but design elements for performance of operators have been ignored. As the behaviors of operators are important for security of nuclear power plant, space design which makes them pleasant psychologically and makes them maintain attention on security equipments ceaselessly is required. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze space characteristics of main control rooms according to regulations of nuclear power plant and general guidelines of space design, and to offer basic data for designing of main control room which makes operators pleasant psychologically and physically. At first, theoretical issues related with design of main control room are reviewed and several premises of space are developed by abstracting design elements from common space and regulations of nuclear power plant and, then integrating each design elements interactively. In short, the improvement of system environment based on human-machine interface space has brought about perceptual, cognitive, and spatial changes and has realized next generation of main control rooms. And, differences and similarities between ordinary space and main control room, which ergonomic sizes and regulations are applied and is VDT environment based on LDP, are discussed in relation to 13 design elements and 17 space premise.

  • In developing the HMI(Human-Machine Interface) evaluation system for the IVNS(In-Vehicle Navigation System), design guidelines and evaluation methods are the most crucial problems for its use and efficiency. As the part of this system, focused on the final product of the database, subjective mental workload assessment is seriously considered to evaluate the driver's own driving task using the IVNS. This paper suggests the methodology for the ergonomic assessment of the IVNS that corresponds to the subjective measurement of the driver's mental workload by rating his or her own driving task. For this approach, Revision of NASA-Task Load Index(RNASA-TLX) was developed which translated and revised the version of NASA-TLX that is generally accepted an efficient and powerful method for evaluating the in-vehicle information systems. To verify the RNASA-TLX, an experiment was conducted in a real road situation, because the result of the laboratory approach is uncertain and has the differences from the real road test.

  • The purpose of this study was to measure and compare tensile and shear strength for 4 types of new direct-bonding brackets and same brackets after recycling and to evaluate the change of bracket slot width after recycling. Four types of new direct-bond brackets were bonded to recently extracted human premolar teeth and the tensile and shear strength was measured by Universal Testing Machine. The brackets were recycled by chemical process and the tensile and shear test was repeated. To evaluate the change of the bracket slot width, slot width was measured by the Topcon Universal Measuring Microscope before and after recycling. Following results were obtained: 1. There was no satistically significant difference between the tensile and shear strength of recycled brackets and those of new brackets. 2. In both new and recycled brackets, the tensile and shear strength of perforated base bracket was lower than those of photoetched, foilmesh and contou-lok mesh base brackets. (P<0.01) 3. There was no statistically significant difference in bonding strengths of control group bonded only once and two times. 4. There was no statistically significant difference in the change of the bracket slow width after recycling process. 5. Of the failure, the combination type (58%) in the tensile strength and the tooth adhesive interface (65%) in the shear strength was the most common type.

  • In this paper, the intelligent demand control system was introduced. This system was composed of Intelligent demand controller, RTU(Remote Terminal Unit) and HMI(Human Machine Interface) program.The main features of developed system meter recommended by KEPCO. Secondly, the developed demand controller had a measurement function, so system could be simplified. Thirdly, network function was implemented to control a distanced loads. With program, the users who was not trained could operate system. Additionally, management based Web was considered to monitor and manage the system remotely. The system performance was proved in a several experiments.

Cooperative Query Answering Based on Abstraction Database (추상화 정보 데이터베이스 기반 협력적 질의 응답)

  • Since query language is used as a handy tool to obtain information from a database, a more intelligent query answering system is needed to provide user-friendly and fault-tolerant human-machine Interface. Frequently, database users prefer less rigid querying structure, one which allows for vagueness in composing queries, and want the system to understand the intent behind a query. When there is no matching data available, users would rather receive approximate answers than a null information response. This paper presents a knowledge abstraction database that facilitates the development of such a fault-tolerant and intelligent database system. The proposed knowledge abstraction database adepts a multilevel knowledge representation scheme called the knowledge abstraction hierarchy(KAH), extracts semantic data relationships from the underlying database, and provides query transformation mechanisms using query generalization and specialization steps. In cooperation with the underlying database, the knowledge abstraction database accepts vague queries and allows users to pose approximate queries as well as conceptually abstract queries. Specifically. four types of vague queries are discussed, including approximate selection, approximate join, conceptual selection, and conceptual Join. A prototype system has been implemented at KAIST and is being tested with a personnel database system to demonstrate the usefulness and practicality of the knowledge abstraction database in ordinary database application systems.

Knitted Data Glove System for Finger Motion Classification (손가락 동작 분류를 위한 니트 데이터 글러브 시스템)

  • This paper presents a novel knitted data glove system for pattern classification of hand posture. Several experiments were conducted to confirm the performance of the knitted data glove. To find better sensor materials, the knitted data glove was fabricated with stainless-steel yarn and silver-plated yarn as representative conductive yarns, respectively. The result showed that the signal of the knitted data glove made of silver-plated yarn was more stable than that of stainless-steel yarn according as the measurement distance becomes longer. Also, the pattern classification was conducted for the performance verification of the data glove knitted using the silver-plated yarn. The average classification reached at 100% except for the pointing finger posture, and the overall classification accuracy of the knitted data glove was 98.3%. With these results, we expect that the knitted data glove is applied to various robot fields including the human-machine interface.

  • Recently industrial control systems have been required to ensure intelligent, high tech automation, interconnection and interoperability demands. Therefore, there is a need to redefine the structure concepts of SCADA system for wind power. Also, at this time, the integrated management system is required for the distributed development of wind farms where are needed often interoperability features and exchange information between different wind farms, wind turbines or SCADA systems. In this paper, an integrated structural concepts for SCADA system are defined. Based on this definition of an integrated SCADA system, the basic designs are analyzed on physical layer, system layer and application layer which are corresponded to wind turbine controller, the SCADA server and the SCADA client, and implement HMI. Between the implementation SCADA server and the client, their normal functions were verified at the small scale wind energy test facilities.

  • In this paper, an intelligent security camera over internet is proposed. Among ISC methods, watersheds based methods produce a good performance in segmentation accuracy. But traditional watershed transform has been suffered from over-segmentation due to small local minima included in gradient image that is input to the watershed transform. And a zone face candidates of detection using skin-color model. last step, face to check at face of candidate location using SVM method. It is extract of wavelet transform coefficient to the zone face candidated. Therefore, it is likely that it is applicable to read world problem, such as object tracking, surveillance, and human computer interface application etc.

  • The lightning arrester is a very important overvoltage protection device in the electric power system. Therefore, the inspection of lightning arrester whether it keeps its performance or not properly has close related to verifying the safety confidence of the electric power system. But the development of the deterioration measuring method and on-line detecting system, is necessary to monitor the deterioration of the lightening arrestor. In this paper, we developed the lightning arrester degradation monitoring system. This system detected leakage current of lightning arrester by using the ZCT, and analyze the third harmonics ingredient of leakage current using DFT method in the Data Acquisition Unit(DAU). The analyzed current signal is transmit to the Human-Machine Interface(HMI), and HMI alarmed when accident are occurred and informed with the amplitude of leakage current to the operator.

  • 분산제어시스템은 지리적으로 분산되어 있는 제어장치들을 제어시스템과 HMI(Human Machine Interface) 소프트웨어를 통하여 감시제어 한다. 사용자는 HMI 소프트웨어를 사용해 전체 시스템을 제어한다. HMI 소프트웨어는 통신, 저장 화면 갱신, 데이터 분석 등 모든 작업을 수행한다. 분산제어시스템의 특성상 항상 동작 상태에 있어야 하기 때문에 HMI 소프트웨어의 부담은 고장 가능성을 증가시킨다. HMI 소프트웨어의 작업은 실시간 특성을 기준으로 나눌 수 있다. 작업은 실시간 데이터를 이용하는 감시와 레포트(report)와 데이터 분석을 위하여 저장된 데이터를 이용하는 작업으로 나눌 수 있다. 본 논문이 제안한 분산제어시스템에서는 제어시스템(PCS)과 제어감시 소프트웨어(HIIS)가 작업의 특성에 따라 동적(dynamic)으로 연결된다. HIIS는 동적연결을 통하여 디스크 쓰기 동작을 줄이고 제어시스템으로부터의 데이터 전송을 감소시킨다. 결과적으로 제어시스템과 HMI 소프트웨어의 작업량을 줄임으로서 분산제어시스템의 성능향상과 유효성을 증가시킨다. 본 논문에서는 HMI 소프트웨어의 작업(task) 특성을 고려한 분산 제어시스템 아키텍처를 제안하고 실험을 통하여 아키텍처 성능을 평가하였다.
