The Impact of Human Resource Management Activities on the Compatibility and Work Results

  • This research focuses on determining the impact of human resource management activities on the compatibility and work results of employees of Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) listed companies. The paper includes five parts: introduction, literature review, research methodology, research results, and conclusion and policy implications. The data are collected from the survey of 350 listed companies in HOSE, in which 315 survey notes filled with sufficient information are used for analysis. The paper employs both qualitative method and quantitative method. Group discussion of 10 experts is for qualitative research. Quantitative method performs analysis of Statistics, Cronbach's Alpha, EFA analysis, CFA analysis and SEM model. The results of the research clearly indicate that human resource management (HRM) activities are measured through improving the ability, improving the motivation and improving the opportunity. While compatibility is measured through suitability, connection and sacrifice; whereby HRM activities of ability improvement have a positive effect on the job suitability and connection; HRM activities of motivation improvement have a positive effect on the job suitability, connection and sacrifice; and HRM activities of opportunity improvement have a positive effect on the job suitability, sacrifice and connection; Finally, the job suitability, sacrifice and connection positively affect the work results of employees.

  • The aim of this paper is to consider the process of supplying trained workers with knowledge and skills for upcoming business opportunities and the process of training apprentices to be prepared to meet future demands in an IT service firm. As the demand for new workers fluctuates, a firm should employ a buffer workforce such as apprentices or interns. However, as a result of rapid business development, the capacity of the buffer may be exceeded, thus requiring the company to recruit skilled workers from outside the firm. Therefore, it is important for a firm to map out a strategy for manpower planning so as to fulfill the demands of new business and minimize the operation costs related to training apprentices and recruiting experienced workers. First, this paper analyzes the supply and demand of workers for the IT service in a knowledge-intensive field. It then presents optimal human resource planning strategies via the familiar method of stochastic process. Also, we illustrate that our model is applied to the human resource planning of an information security service firm in South Korea.

  • This study aims to understand the relation between the perceived social exchange of employees in service industry, which is focused on food service industry, and the organizational citizenship behavior, and to consider the efficiency of human resources management in service industry. To achieve the purpose of this study, a documentary study and an empirical study based on a structural equation model analysis were carried out. In this study, the social exchange consist of perceived leader support, perceived coworker support, and perceived organization support. Also the organizational citizenship behavior consist of organizational citizenship behavior for individual and organizational citizenship behavior for organization. And then, the relation between the variables was found out. Finally, based upon the results of analysis, this study was suggested for human resources management in service industry.

  • Earthwork is important in terms of construction time and duration, and highly related to the construction productivity. However, current earthwork system has stick to labor intensive process depending on skilled operator's heuristic decision making, so it is hard to improve overall productivity. To overcome this drawback, this paper presents a BIM based Intelligent Excavation System(IES). The BIM technology is applied in the excavation task planning system, Human-Machine Interface for remote-control/autonomous work environment, and web-based Project Management Information System(PMIS) in the IES integration process, and the results are addressed.

The Determinants of Human Resource Information System Success in Japanese Manufacturing Companies

  • Purpose - The study sought to examine the relationship between individual characteristics and system features and Human Resource Information System (HRIS) success in Japanese manufacturing companies in Malaysia. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - This study adopt quantitative approach to investigate the relationship between individual characteristics and system features and HRIS. Toward this objective, a total of 700 questionnaires were mailed to a representative of the organization. A total of 187 questionnaires were returned, and only 145 were usable for further analysis, representing a response rate of 20.71%. Result - Results indicated that individual characteristics and two dimensions of system characteristics (ease of use and training) were significantly related to HRIS success. Unexpectedly, the results showed that the third dimension of system features (documentation) was unrelated to HRIS success. Conclusions - The results partially support the underlying arguments that individual characteristics and system characteristics have significant influences on HRIS success. The finding suggests that HRIS success in the organization can be generated as a result of good implementation of system support and employees' readiness to apply HRIS in their jobs.

A System Approach to the Framework of Medical Tourism Industry (의료관광산업의 구조에 대한 시스템 접근법)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research is to develop two medical tourism system models which explain medical tourism phenomenon with a systemic approach. Methodology/Approach: This research was conducted using a qualitative data analysis which mainly refer previous references in relation to medical tourism in the areas of tourism and medicine. Leiper's tourism system model was utilized as a conceptual framework. In-depth interviews with experts in the area were attempted in order to pretest the models. Findings: This research suggests a medical tourism system framework and a medical service provision framework. The first model presents medical tourism components and their relationships within a framework presented in a diagram. The second model shows the relationships among medical services required by medical tourists, the service providers, and service human resources along with movements of medical tourists. Practical Implications: The first model presents a spatial composition of medical tourism components and their relationships, whereas the second model shows the linkage among medical services, the service providers, and relevant service human resources along with time sequential steps of medical tourists. These two models are complementary and may be used as useful tools to observe medical tourism phenomenon with a systemic and holistic approach. These two models may enable stake holders avoid unnecessary confusions and conflicts that result in duplication of government policies and a waste of budget and human resources.

  • We need a study of the ratio of successful applicants control methodology about the national technical qualification under the global-green industrial society and rapid change of international circumstances, infinite competition rider society under FTA aspects. It is necessary to develop of HRD Korea selfishness and increase brand value of national technical qualification. So, this study is analysed to the ratio of successful applicants of national technical qualification toward change of the 'bank of problems' control rule, various characters of candidates and the trend of demand and supply of labours instead of the absolute evaluation method. Accordingly, this study suggests to a methodology for the forecasting model of the ratio of successful applicants using the level of problems difficulty and pattern and the candidates academical carriers.

  • To evaluate customer satisfaction of hotel food and beverage products, developing items for the measurement is necessary through studying the properties of food and beverage products. The properties consist of human service, physical and systematic service. Human service includes appearance and uniforms, courtesy and kindness, quickness and precision of the service, well-educatedness, moral sense and etc. Physical service includes the taste of food and beverage, diversity of food and beverage, outlets' cleanness and atmosphere, refinement of fixture, furnishing and table ware, the admission passage to the hotel and parking lot facilities, and etc. Systematic service includes passages of movement to outlet, arrangement of outlet, reservation management system, operation of events and package goods, temperature and ventilation system and etc. The price is also one of important variables to measure customer satisfaction index, so it is included to the investigating items. As shown some hotels have several satisfactory items but most items are unsatisfactory because expected service is better than perceived service. Therefore, the hotels which lack human service need the reinforcement of service education, the hotels which lack physical and systematic services need the improvement, the development and the renovation according to the unsatisfactory items. And the hotels whose price item is unsatisfactory need to consider the policy.

In this study, we show the needs of businesses and organizations need to look and expect the role of the top talents in science and technology. In addition, we present implications for engineering education and human resources management on the utilization of top talents in science and technology.

  • Jobless Growth, one of the most issue keywords for Korea's economy at this moment, stands for an economic situation where the unemployment rate once edging up at the downturn does not fall sharply even after a business cycle is on the stage of its recovery. A remarkable progress of ICT has intensified the apprehension of technology displacing human labor. A remarkable progress of ICT has intensified the apprehension of technology displacing human labor historically. Nowadays, ICT as the main cause for recent jobless growth in Korea ends up with pointing out. This study is to investigate whether the ICT leads to an economic situation of jobless growth. We served an empirical analysis using firm-level panel data from 2009 to 2013 and estimated the effects of ICT on both firm's employment and productivity. A result suggests not only does the employment increase with the rise of ICT investment, but also the employment becomes a complete mediator in terms of linking ICT and firm's productivity. It turns out to be a groundless fear that the ICT rules out human labor causing jobless growth for Korea's economy according to the result revealed.
