한.대(韓.臺) 벤처기업의 경영환경, e-비즈니스 전략, 성과간의 관계 (Business Environment, e-Business Strategy and Performance : An Empirical Study of Venture Firms in Daedeok Valley and Hsinchu Science Park)

  • This study investigates the effects of business environment on the e-business strategy and performance of venture firms. The development of the research model is based on the empirical studies on the strategy literature. The data from the survey was analyzed using Partial Least Squares(PLS). For Daedeok Valley Venture Firms, product innovation differentiation strategy is affected by environmental uncertainty. And, cost leadership strategy tend to be influence by environmental uncertainty. Finally, venture firm's performance is effected by cost leadership strategy and marketing differentiation strategy. However, for in Hsinchu Science Park Venture Firms, product innovation differentiation strategy is affected by environmental uncertainty and heterogeneity. And, marketing differentiation strategy is enhanced by environment uncertainty and industry growth. In addition, cost leadership strategy tend to be influence by environmental uncertainty and heterogeneity. Finally, venture firm's performance is effected by cost leadership strategy and product innovation differentiation strategy.

Magnetism in α-RuCl3 : Dependence on Coulomb Interaction and Hund's Coupling

  • Employing the density functional theory, we have investigated the roles of Coulomb and Hund's interactions in the electronic and magnetic properties of newly discovered ${\alpha}-RuCl_3$ having the $R{\overline{3}}$ symmetry, which is in close proximity of the Kitaev system. We show that both the size and the direction of local magnetic moment are highly dependent on Coulomb and Hund's interactions, and the spin and orbital parts show different behaviors. The validity of the so-called $j^{eff}$ picture is accessed upon interaction parameters, and the explicit roles of Hund's interaction in the local electronic structures and magnetic properties are discussed.

The Relationship Between Night Shift Work and the Risk of Abnormal Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone: A Hospital-Based Nine-Year Follow-up Retrospective Cohort Study in Taiwan

  • Background: Health-care providers typically undergo shift work and are subjected to increased stress. Night shift work may induce disturbed sleep cycles and circadian rhythm. The objective of this study was to explore if night shift workers (NSWs) show an increased risk of abnormal thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 574 employees without thyroid disease and abnormal TSH at baseline who underwent annual check-ups between 2007 and 2016 in a medical center. NSWs were defined as those with working time schedules other than daytime hours. We calculated the incidence rate and estimated the adjusted hazard ratio (HR) for incident abnormal TSH and subclinical hypothyroidism compared with non-NSWs using a Cox regression model. Results: A total of 56 incident abnormal TSH cases and 39 subclinical hypothyroidism cases in NSWs were identified during 3000 person-years of follow-up. In models adjusted for age, sex, obesity, and working departments, we found no increased relative risk for incident abnormal TSH (HR: 0.72, 95% confidence interval: 0.33-1.60) or subclinical hypothyroidism (HR: 0.52, 95% confidence interval: 0.19-1.45) when comparing NSWs to non-NSWs; nor were incidence rates significantly different among exclusively medical employees after excluding administrative staff. Conclusion: In this hospital-based nine-year follow-up retrospective cohort study, NSWs were not associated with increased relative risk of incident abnormal TSH and subclinical hypothyroidism, in contrast to previous cross-sectional studies.

  • There is considerable research activity related to computer graphics and virtual reality within the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Hsinchu, Taiwan. In this article, we describe the history of computer graphics at NCTU and report on our current research topics and future works. Besides we also briefly outline the research works on computer graphics and virtual reality within universities in Taiwan.

On the Design of the Latch Mechanism for Wafer Containers in a SMIF Environment

  • This paper presents, the design of a latch mechanism for wafer containers in a standard mechanical interface environment. For an integrated circuits fabrication factory, the standard mechanical interfaced wafer container is an effective tool to prevent wafers from particle contamination during wafer storage, transporting or transferring. The latch mechanism inside the container door is used to latch and further seal the wafer container for safety and air quality. Kinematic characteristics of the mechanism are established by analyzing the required functions of the mechanisms. Based on these characteristics, a methodology for enumerating feasible latch mechanisms is developed. New mechanisms with one degree-of-freedom and up to five links are generated. An optimum design is also identified with respect to the criteria pertinent to the application. The computer-aided simulation is also built to verify the design.

  • [1] There are systematical errors associated with ionospheric influence in retrieving key atmospheric parameters from radio occultation (RO) soundings. In order to obtain better-quality retrievals, we develop a new method, hereafter called National Central University Radio Occultation (NCURO) scheme, to reduce the ionospheric influence. The excess phase is divided into two parts, namely geometric excess length and path excess length (excess length along ray path due to refractivity effect). An excess phase equation is presented and implemented in the NCURO scheme Whose performance is evaluated through comparisons with model simulation and experimental data. The model simulation is based on the use of the ionospheric model 002001 and atmospheric model NRLMSISE-OO. Results show that the NCURO scheme significantly reduces the ionospheric influence at altitudes above 70 km as does the scheme presented in the literature, and provides better corrections for the atmospheric profile. The Promotion of Startups in Tainan Technopolis

  • Taiwan's economy has been characterized by the strong existence and continuous creation of small and medium-sized enterprises. This phenomenon is commonly regarded to be the result of a culturally embedded strong entrepreneurial spirit. In the process of developing a high-technology industry in southern Taiwan, linking a newly established science park with existing local industries was one of the major challenges. This article reviewed the development history of Tainan Technopolis. Following a concise review of Southern Taiwan Science Park's struggle against becoming an assembly of spillover establishments from Hsinchu Science Park, the authors focused on the efforts of incubating startups. Although only an initial study, the authors demonstrated the roles of National Cheng Kung University and Southern Taiwan Science Park Administration in introducing a two-track incubation system based on collaboration between the two institutions and startups.

  • 미국의 실리콘밸리와 대만의 신주공업단지는 종종 첨단 산업집적단지의 성공적 모델로 불리어진다. 이들 두 지역의 성공 및 경쟁력에 대한 지배적 설명은 전통적으로 경제활동의 공간적 집적이 가져다주는 경제적 이익을 제시하기 위해 사용된 "외부규모의 경제"에 이론적 기반을 두고 있다. 그러나, 외부경제란 개념만으로 이들 지역의 역동적 발전과 모방하기 힘든 경쟁력을 설명하기에는 부족함이 많았다. 본 논문은 이들 지역에서 역사적으로 전개되어진 기업과 외부 경제주체들과의 관계를 사회적 자본, 네트워크 기반 산업시스템 분석, 자원기반이론 등을 토대로 분석하여 이들 두 지역이 첨단집적단지로서의 성공요인과 경쟁우위에 대해서 살펴보고자 했다. 아울러 본 논문은 이들 두 지역에 있어서 발전적 협력관계를 분석함으로서 국내에서 이러한 첨단산업단지를 개발하고 발전시키기 위해 필요한 것이 무엇인지를 검토하고 이에 필요한 정책적 시사점을 몇 가지 제시했다.몇 가지 제시했다.

SPHERICAL SUBMANIFOLDS WITH FINITE TYPE SPHERICAL GAUSS MAP

  • The study of Euclidean submanifolds with finite type "classical" Gauss map was initiated by B.-Y. Chen and P. Piccinni in [11]. On the other hand, it was believed that for spherical sub manifolds the concept of spherical Gauss map is more relevant than the classical one (see [20]). Thus the purpose of this article is to initiate the study of spherical submanifolds with finite type spherical Gauss map. We obtain several fundamental results in this respect. In particular, spherical submanifolds with 1-type spherical Gauss map are classified. From which we conclude that all isoparametric hypersurfaces of $S^{n+1}$ have 1-type spherical Gauss map. Among others, we also prove that Veronese surface and equilateral minimal torus are the only minimal spherical surfaces with 2-type spherical Gauss map.
