  • Multi-family housings caused several problems related to physical form such as isolation of housing estate, inhumanity of the exterior space, and mismatch with the urban structure. To handle these problems, the purpose of this study is to analyse density elements which have a direct impact on physical forms, thereby understand the characteristics of physical form and also identify a meaning of inter-relationships between them. Therefore both formal constituents and density elements are reformed into respective analyzing indices. From the analysis, physical form and the spatial layout of buildings were more uniform in large-scale housing estates than in medium or small housing estates. However, small-scale housing estates showed various form and the spatial layout of buildings in order to increase the building density.

  • In the domestic housing market, uncompleted lot-solid apartments and unoccupied residences are increasing in the medium-large scale area whose rents and transactions have been unstable, as going through the financial crisis and economical recession. Demands for small-scale housings are steadily increasing by practical consumer group who don't need large places, which are often not needed for the current people who are spending most of their time outside of their houses. Therefore, this study proposes the useful methods for spatial planning for small-scale houses for multiple households, including variable form, levels form, multi-level form, and smart-sizing. For efficient spatial planning for that purpose, here, small-scale housings are not limited to places for families with 1-2 members, but considered as one of broader approaches to graft various households and families. In addition, we examined the existed trends of researches about spatial utility of small-scale places, and did the research about the status of small-scale housing developments, and then proposed the direction for future small-scale housings by analyzing the advanced examples.

  • The aim of this study is to find out the pattern of Ger form, inner spatial composition of Mongolian Ger house, and to take a dig at the structural or symbolic elements of nomadic architecture of Ger. To the point of view of corresponding to living and space of housing, remarkable characteristics of Ger Architecture is able to pull down and recombine the structures of nomadic house. Even though urbanization of Mongolia has spreading rapidly in a whole nation, most of people preserves traditional housing pattern within Ger. The ways of survey are to study of traditional home of Mongolia, and then field work at residence or mountain area in Ulan Bator and Gorkhi Terelj National Park area. This survey contains the form, size, structure, spatial composition of living space, structure, and materials. There are three results as follows: First, the form of Ger house is like a pyramidal or crown roof style to approximate to the round shape of it. Usually they had lived in nomadic way of life, so the Ger had a movable and flexible structure. Second, the Ger is easy to build up and deconstruct to move or find a new pasture. • This study is aimed at understanding objectively on the visual perception of atypical space and form in contemporary architecture. It is accomplished to compose the various form and the atypical space in contemporary architecture, which by means of applying digital technology to architecture is able to materialize complicated form and space. Therefore this the sis is needed to understand user's senses and affects in atypical space and form. Atypical space is able to interpret geometrically and analyze quantitatively into visual perception. This analysis is applied to Isovist used as quantitative analysis recently, and physical analysis of space used as quantitative analysis defined to vertical elements, which is analysed comparatively to visual perception in observer's point and characteristics in spatial elements. Examples are selected to four examples represented to typical and atypical space in contemporary houses. As examples are analysed to visual perception of spatial character, this study is intended to understand to spatial character in aspects of spatial composition and observer's visual perception. In results of perceptive analysis on four spatial examples, Atypical spaces are composed of changeable spatiality, which are composed changeably of the relational method with adjacent spaces. Also, typical spaces are composed monotonously of spatiality and relational method on control of the length in boundary plane and openness.
