  • It can be seen that Traditional house of Jeong Si-yeong is located in a place where Saenggi(good energy), which is important in Pungsu(Feng Shui), can be gathered and that energy can be properly maintained. According to the theory of feng shui, a place that is not easily exposed by the surrounding mountains and is well protected by the strong wind was selected, and the main room was placed on the south side so that the sunlight was adequate while facing the north, so that you can live a comfortable life for a long time. Located on such a relatively well-hidden site, it is a location that can cope well with the invasion of Japanese invaders through the sea in the past, and even today, it is seen as a reasonable base that can be properly protected from strong sea winds in reality. On the other hand, if we look at the Hyungguk theory, it was a house built in the late Joseon Dynasty, and we could see the hidden hopes of the nobles at the time. The mountain behind the house is a haebok-type with a crab lying on the seashore, and what the crab symbolizes is the past national exam for official. Considering that the name of the place where the house is located is also Oyat(cucumber tree)-ri, where many cucumber trees closely related to the royal family of the Joseon Dynasty were planted, it seems that the family wished for prosperity by producing many Sadaebu(upper class gentry) in the past and forming a good relationship with the royal family.

And the rate of the consumption of domestic wood in Japan is 73%. In Japan, there is an effort to substitute imported wood to domestic timber through the promotion of using of domestic timber. Whereas the needs on using of domestic timber gradually emerged. So, the legal about sustainable use of wood is approved by the National Assembly on May 2012. There is not active movement in the aspect of using of domestic timber yet. These causes to the geographical and environmental characteristics, but industry, policy, and the difference of recognize on domestic timber utilization is thought to do greater influence. • A study on the traditional houses of North Korea(I) have been published in 1996. This paper is written to supplement the preceding paper. This paper aims at collecting new data of traditional house in North Korea. But still being prohibited for the researchers of South Korea to approach to the field, I had to depend on the memories and experiences of the immigrants from North Korea who are now living in Kangwon and Incheon Province. Through the questionnaire and drawings, they described vivid memory of their old houses. I was able to add new data of 70 cases, which are significant and valuable as much as those of the real field are. Those data, including the exisiting data, are enough for me to analize statstically the regional charateristics, the differnces among economical classes, and the periodical change. It opens the way for verfying the existing theory. Regional charateristics of house in North Korea can be described as followings: a. Hamkyong-do ; Concentrating spaces into one building, Double-fold type plan, Including 'cheongju-kan' space, Weak fences b. Pyongan-do ; Concentrating spaces into two buildings, 二 shape buildings , Single-fold type plan, Strong fence c. Pyongannam-do to Myolak mountains; Concentraing spaces into two buildings, ㄱ, ㄷ shape buildings, Single-fold type plan, Strong fence d. Southern area of Myolak mountains; Concentrating spaces into one building ㅁ shape building, Single-fold type plan with wooden floor space

From the results, location should be differentiated into urban type and suburban type. The most preferred characteristics found by factor analysis were factor I named as communal facilities and environment(the items belong to factor I was neighbour environment, communal spaces and facilities, heating system, and elevator). The most important advantages of EAL were social activities and convenience. The most salient disadvantages of EAL were difficulty of family contact. The higher the occupational status and income, the lower the preference for the characteristics of EAL with a preference for finding appropriate living arrangements in present housing market. • The traveler's travel pattern has significantly changed due to the social and economic changes. The travel time among the traveler's pattern is the limited resource. The travelers are trying to maximize the utility of travel with the least travel cost. So, the travelers travel with their own travel time budget in mind, which they can pay or choose to pay for the optimal maximization of the utility of the individuals. This research is to group and extract the specific factors which affect the travel time budget by utilizing the CART analysis method, which enables the analysis of traveler's characteristics and their interrelationship based on the data collected from "2002 Household Travel Practice Research" and then try to derive a model for estimating the traveler’s travel time budget. The result of CART analysis shows that the factors which affect the travel time budget include the traveler's age, size of house, type of house, type of employment, job and relation to the head of household. Considering the affecting factors derived, I developed an estimation model. From that model, we found that the age, size of house and type of house were positively (+) related to the travel time budget while the homeworking people who have less travel frequency as a type of employment were negatively (-) related to it. In particular, from the point of type of job, the housewives, children not yet old enough to attend schools and people who are working in the agricultural, or marine product industries were found to have the negative (-) value while the people who have the administrative, office, management jobs were found to have the positive (+) value.
