  • Conversion of rice paddy field to upland has been accelerated as the central government incentivizes more profitable upland crop cultivation. The objective of this study was to investigate the current status and conversion trend from paddy to upland for the reservoir irrigation districts. Total 605 of reservoir irrigation districts whose beneficiary area is greater than 200 ha were selected for paddy-to-upland conversion analysis using the land cover maps provided by the EGIS of the Ministry of Environment. The land cover data of 2019 was used to analyze up-to-date upland conversion status and its correlation with city proximity, while land cover change between 2007 and 2019 was used for paddy-to-upland conversion trend analysis. Overall 14.8% of the entire study reservoir irrigation area was converted to upland cultivation including greenhouse and orchard areas. Approximately the portion of paddy area was reduced by 17.8% on average, while upland area was increased by 4.9% over the 12 years from 2007 to 2019. This conversion from paddy to upland cultivation was more pronounced in the Gyoenggi and Gyeongsang regions compared to other the Jeolla and Chungcheong provinces. The increase of upland area was also more notable in proximity of the major city. This study findings may assist to identify some hot reservoir districts of the rapid conversion to upland cultivation and thus plan to transition toward upland irrigation system.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the issues concerning feminine forms of nouns which indicates occupations in French. In distinguishing the French masculine and feminine forms, many linguistic issues about feminizing occupational nouns became a hot issue among scholars. However, reasonably logical and effective methods to solve such issues are not suggested yet. The first part is focused on how the feminine forms were historically altered to investigate changing process of nouns representing jobs. Through this, we found that the occupational nouns' feminization is quite related to the social big changes, the woman's social condition and reality reflecting on languages periodically. We discussed the important factors deciding such changes, such as semantic, linguistic and sociolinguistic causes, in the second part of the study. And we mentioned issues which can be suggested in investigating grammatical rules of the feminine form of occupational nouns. The last part is on plans to learn the feminine form of occupations in an effective way. The language is being developed while it is closely related with social and cultural environment of people who use the languages. In this meaning, occupational nouns' feminization is a good example which can reflect chronological and social changes. Through the thesis, we know that it is not enough to provide explanation of changes of feminine occupational nouns about the woman's social roles' alteration. We just hope it can be at least a small help in doing more systematic and deeper analysis which can show the fact that languages reflect the phenomenon of social changes.

  • We developed nano-porous $TiO_2-SiO_2$ composites (commercial name : PTI, porous titania insulator) with low thermal conductivity as thermal insulating material as well as function of photocatalyst. The objectives of this paper are, firstly, to evaluate of the thermal conductivity of the PTI powder in the temperature range from -160 to $250^{\circ}C$, secondly to evaluate of thermal conductivities of insulation materials that is applied PTI powder. The structure of the PTI powder that has the pores size of 20-30 nm and the particle diameter of 2-10 nm. The PTI had a high surface area of $400m^2/g$ and a mean pore size of $45{\AA}$, which was fairly uniform. The thermal conductivity was measured by GHP(guarded hot plate) method and HFM(heat flux method). The PTI structure is a three-dimensional network nano-structures composed by a pearl-necklace that involved a precious stone in the center of the necklace. The thermal conductivities of PTI-PX powder by the GHP and HFM were 0.0366 W/m.K, 0.0314 W/m.K at $20^{\circ}C$, respectively. This is similar to values that are proportional to the square of the absolute temperature of the thermal conductivity of static air. The thermal conductivities of insulating sheets coated with PTI powder were similar results with that of the PTI powder.

  • The proposed model is developed to minimize the loss of information in incomplete data including missing data. The first step is to transform the learning data to compensate for the loss information using the data extension technique. In this conversion process, the attribute values of the data are filled with binary or probability values in one-hot encoding. Next, this conversion data is input to the deep learning model, where the number of entries is not constant depending on the cardinality of each attribute. Then, the entry values of each attribute are assigned to the respective input nodes, and learning proceeds. This is different from existing learning models, and has an unusual structure in which arbitrary attribute values are distributedly input to multiple nodes in the input layer. In order to evaluate the learning performance of the proposed model, various experiments are performed on the missing data and it shows that it is superior in terms of performance. The proposed model will be useful as an algorithm to minimize the loss in the ubiquitous environment.

  • The mechanical properties and microstructure of 1st stage used and casted buckets of $1,100^{\circ}C$ class gas turbine were analyzed to evaluate quality of the components. Gas turbine 1st stage buckets are exposed and operated in the most severe environment except 1st nozzle among the hot path gas components. Additionally, since the 1st stage bucket is a rotating component, so it may cause additional damage to the rear buckets and nozzles which cause a huge financial loss. Therefore, the quality of the casted bucket must be evaluated prior to use at the plant site. In this study, the microstructure analysis and mechanical properties of the casted bucket were evaluated to verify the casting quality and it was confirmed that the quality conditions designed by KEPCO were satisfied. A bucket operated 46% (11,067EOH) of its life time also evaluated for quality comparison.

  • This study aims to spatialize the gap between obesity levels through the body mass index, an objective indicator of the level of health among vulnerable people. Thus, areas where the BMI showed cluster patterns with spatial high and low values were extracted and the characteristics of the region were analyzed. The analysis showed that the I statistics for the obesity rate were 0.07 and the z-score was 4.39, confirming spatial autocorrelation. For z-score, it was much larger than the maximum threshold of 2.57. This means that the rate of obesity among the socially vulnerable is regional, and this gap is spatially significant. The results of comparing and analyzing the local environment for these areas of obesity and health care were found to be areas with poor public transportation, less readily available parks, and a concentration of single and multi-generation housing. The analysis results of this study are meaningful in that they provide spatial implications for the health of the socially vulnerable class that previous studies have neglected.

  • Because the warm and cozy demand of automotive driving seat increases, the research development of heating seat has been actively made. In this study, the thermal stress analysis and the structural analysis were carried out with three kinds of heating seats of A, B and C. By executing the thermal analysis with the same material, model A was shown to have the heat transfer better than model B or model C at the study result. So, it could be seen that the heat transfers became different each other though models had the same material according to the configuration of product. Adding the hot wire in order to expect the safer heating can be better heating, but there is the limit on the aspect considering the capability in contrast to the price of product. Generally, model B is thought to be safest thermally than model A or model C in every respect. As the design data of the automotive heating seat product with the durability and safety acquired by this study result are used, the artistic environment can be promoted by being grafted onto the automotive driving seat.

  • Background: Evaluation of transpiration is required for agricultural and environmental management applications, as crop yields and plant growth are primarily water limited. This study aimed to determine the transpiration and carbon accumulation of Cnidium officinale. Methods and Results: The transpiration of C. officinale was evaluated using weighing lysimeter. The relationship between transpiration and factors such as solar radiation, air temperature, and leaf area was assessed. Transpiration increased as the leaf area increased with the growth stage. Furthermore, daily transpiration per unit leaf area was 0.69 ± 0.16 g·cm-2·day-1 and there were no significant differences in daily transpiration during the cultivation period. The maximum transpiration was 620.6 g m-2·h-1 and diurnal changes in transpiration were highly correlated with solar radiation although the maximum transpiration was observed at the air temperatures of 20℃ - 26℃. The ratio of carbon accumulation to transpiration was 0.12%. Conclusions: Our results indicated that the transpiration of C. officinale is primarily regulated by solar radiation energy on clear days and that 97% of the water is discharged through transpiration for heat dissipation. Therefore, weighing lysimeters can measure transpiration accurately and may be useful in interpreting plant growth.

  • John Glenn, America's first man to eat anything in the near-weightless environment of Earth orbit, found the task of eating fairly easy. With improved packaging came improved food quality and menus. By the time of the Apollo Program, the quality and variety of food increased even further. Apollo astronauts were the first to have hot water, which made rehydrating foods easier and improved the food's taste. Thermostabilized pouches were also introduced on Apollo. The task of eating in space got a big boost in Skylab. It also had a food freezer and refrigerator a convenience offered by no other vehicle before or since. Two different food systems will be used for future long-duration missions to other planets, one for traveling to and from the distant body and one for use on the surface of the moon or Mars. The transit food system will be similar to the space station food system with the exception that products with three-to five-year shelf lives will be needed. Thus, this part of the trip will be similar to what occurs aboard space missions now. The surface food system, be it lunar or planetary, will be quite different. It will be similar to a vegetarian diet that someone could cook on Earth. Once crew members arrive on the surface and establish living quarters, they can start growing crops. Once the crops are processed into edible ingredients, cooking will be done in the spacecraft's galley to make the food items. Disposal of used food packaging will be an issue since there will be no Progress vehicles to send off and incinerate into the Earth's atmosphere. Packaging materials will be used that have less mass but sufficient barrier properties for oxygen and water to maintain shelf life as those now in use.

  • The electrolytic reduction of spent oxide fuel involves the liberation of oxygen in a molten LiCl electrolyte, which results in a chemically aggressive environment that is too corrosive for typical structural materials. So, it is essential to choose the optimum material for the process equipment handling molten salt. In this study, corrosion behavior of Inconel 713LC, Inconel MA 754, Nimonic 80A and Nimonic 90 in the molten salt $LiCl-Li_2O$ under an oxidizing atmosphere was investigated at $650^{\circ}C$ for 72~216 hrs. Inconel 713LC alloy showed the highest corrosion resistance among the examined alloys. Corrosion products of Inconel 713LC were $Cr_2O_3$, $NiCr_2O_4$ and NiO, and those of Inconel MA 754 were $Cr_2O_3$ and $Li_2Ni_8O_{10}$ while $Cr_2O_3$, $LiFeO_2$, $(Cr,Ti)_2O_3$ and $Li_2Ni_8O_{10}$ were produced from Nimonic 80A. Also, corrosion products of Nimonic 90 were found to be $Cr_2O_3$, $(Cr,Ti)_2O_3$, $LiAlO_2$ and $CoCr_2O_4$. Inconel 713LC showed local corrosion behavior and Inconel MA 754, Nimonic 80A, Nimonic 90 showed uniform corrosion behavior.
