The purpose of this study was to analyze affecting factors on labor union commitment among nurses in two general hospitals. The subjects of this study were 282 nurses in one university hospital in Seoul and one general hospital in Gyeong-Gi province from April 20 to May 9, 2008 through survey questionnaires. The main results of this study were as follow: First, labor union commitment level among nurses was increased as 30 years old and lower job position. Second, organization conflict level among nurses did not statistical differ significantly regarding age, education level, wedding, job year, job position, and labor manager. Third, correlation between labor union commitment level and other variables as follow. It was increased as age, education level, job year, job position, organization conflict level but not statistical difference significantly. Finally, from the results of multiple regression analysis to identify major affecting factors of labor union commitment level, it depends on low education level, high conflict between individual and group but not significantly. Therefore, new research was required regarding organization culture and commitment.
This study aimed to identify the effect of job embeddedness and organization attachment on the intention to stay of hospital nurses in the convergence society. The participants were 211 general hospital nurses; data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, Multiple regression. This study found that: hospital nurses showed higher score at job embeddedness, higher organization attachment, higher scores for intention to stay. The main factors influencing intention to stay were job embeddedness and organization attachment. They explained about 45% of the intention to stay. Thus, it is necessary to allocate tasks and evaluate appropriate to the nurse's ability and support individual and organizational activities that can enhance organizational attachment.
This study has performed to find the effective method of human resource management in the hospital organization through the relationship between organizational attitude and individual inclination, where nurses, medical technician and administrative staff of hospital with labor intensive and relationship oriented organization were analyzed. According to the results, the lower individual inclination with changeable level of hospital employees, the higher of outer level and the higher of goal-oriented level, the organizational attitude was shown to be amicable, especially was most highly influenced by changeable level. Therefore, the hospital organization was recommended to find the following methods properly; no only to strengthen the active and logical outgoing tendency, the careful words and actions through the emotion control for the goal orientation, but also to minimize the changeable tendency such as not amicable human relation, the change and delay of decision.
In this study, we explored the psychometric properties of the Korean version of the Safety Organization Scale (K-SOS). The SOS is based on the principles of a high-reliability organization and is an effective measure of the self-reported behaviors underlying the safety culture of an organization. We conducted a methodological study to examine the validity and reliability of the 9-item SOS translated into Korean. The data of 108 nurses working in three general hospitals with more than 100 beds located in D City were included. Content validity, construct validity, criterion validity, and reliability were evaluated. The results confirmed that the K-SOS is a unidimensional structure scale. Higher K-SOS scores exhibited a significant correlation with Hospital Survey On Patient Safety Culture, thus indicating the validity of the criterion. The internal consistency of the K-SOS was acceptable. Thus, the K-SOS is a reliable self-report scale for directly measuring the safety behaviors of an organization. The K-SOS can be used to improve patient safety in Korean hospital settings.
Background: The efficient knowledge management in hospital organization is generally known as the important activities relevant to employees' knowledge sharing behavior and work performance. This research examined factors affecting employees' knowledge sharing behavior and work performance in top 4 university hospitals. This study is based on individual factors such as incentives, reciprocity, behavioral control, and subjective norms. Also, there are organizational factors such as CEO support, learning climate, IT system, rewards system, and trust. Methods: Data was collected from employees who are working at 3 hospitals university in Seoul and 1 university hospital in Gyeonggi-Do through the self-administered questionnaires. A total of 779 questionnaires were analyzed by PASW SPSS ver. 18.0. (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results: The significant variables affecting knowledge sharing behavior are behavioral control (in individual factor) and CEO, IT system, and trust (in organization factor). Also the significant variables affecting work performance are incentives, reciprocity, subjective norms, and behavioral control (in individual factor) and CEO support, IT system, reward system, and trust (in organization factor). Conclusion: The personality and organization characteristics factors is important to improve knowledge sharing behavior and work performance of hospital employees. Therefore, to make more efficient knowledge management is to build and system knowledge sharing culture, system, and leadership and to develop practical strategies.
This study is to find out the casual relationship among nursing organization culture, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment that affects customer orientation. The participants were 261 hospital nurses. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS and AMOS programs. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. First, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment showed a direct effect on customer orientation of hospital nurses. Second, nursing organization culture, Job satisfaction, showed an indirect effect on customer orientation of hospital nurses. This implies that, to achieve enhancing of hospital nurses' customer orientation, enhancing job satisfaction, organizational commitment while simultaneously nursing organization culture for an organization is more effective.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to look into the change of area and space organization percentage of wards in main general hospitals in Busan and Gyeongnam. Method : Patient area, nursing area, service area, training area, common area were classified for functional space organization. Patient area was reclassified to bedroom and comfort area, and common area was reclassified into vertical circulation, horizontal circulation and facility area. Also, method of area calculation was chosen standard to wall center-lines following building act 911 and functional space area of each hospital was estimated and comparatively analyzed. Result : For hospitals completed before 2000, area ratio by functional space for patient area, nursing area, service area and common area showed 53.6%, 10.2%, 0.8%, and 35.3% respectively. For hospitals completed after 2000, area ratio by functional space for patient area, nursing area, service space, and common area showed 49.2%, 12.6%, 1.1%, and 37.2% respectively. Implications : Through this study, change of percentage of space organization of main general hospitals in Busan Gyeongnam can be understood. Also because most studies on area organization of general hospital wards were focused on the capital area, this study provides basic material for future studies related to area of general hospital wards in Busan Gyeongnam.
The purpose of this study was to identify the factors which influence the effectiveness of nursing organization in the hospital. The data were collected by employing Delphi technique in a series of three rounds from June 15, 1985 to January 31, 1986. In each round the responses to questionnaires were analyzed and the results were communicated back to the subjects. Finally consensed among subjects in identification of the 45 items which influence the effectiveness of nursing organization in the hospital. The 48 items were reduced to 6 factors and named; planning, organization and problem-solving, staffing and staff developing, supporting, evaluating-controlling and leading, and the number of items included for each factor were 14,14,8,5,3,2 and respectively. Among the 48 items, 2 items were not loaded on forementioned 6 factors because factor loading was below 0.3.

These days our nation is standing on tiptoe of welfare nation. so hospital in authority have done reformation to provide quality medical services. This effective nursing work to provide quality nursing by keeping pace with the reformation of management of hospital for quality medical function might be well said to be depending on the degree of function of nursing management of nursing department. This essay has been aimed to prepare the data to build the position of nursing organization which can elevate the quality of nursing by clarifying the difference of the degree of the function of nursing management according to the position of nursing department in hospital organization. 135 nurses of 1 general hospital in Seoul which has independent nursing organization of the hospitals of over 600 beds and 155 nurses of 1 general hospital in Seoul which has the nursing organization under the management of medical department have been the objects of this study. The tool of Yoon. Young Ae(1988) has been used by having it amended and complemented and the degree of reliability of the tool was resulted in Cronbach's Alpha .9155. The collected data have been analysed by SPSS program as mean. frequency, chi-square. t-test. F-test(ANOVA) and the results are as the follows; 1. Compared result of general characteristics of the two groups by $x^2$-test showed statistically significant difference between religion ($x^2$=10.375, p=.015) and educational background($x^2$=51.222. p=.000) 2. The t-test aimed to compare the degree of function of nursing management according to the position of nursing department is as the below: Compared result of the degree of the function of nursing management according to the areas has shown higher point in independent type(M=3.22) than in the type under the management of medical department(M=2.85) in the personnel and administrative activities of nursing department. the standard and regulation of nursing duty also showed higher point in independent than in the type under the management of medical department (M=3.37) and the education of nursing showed higher point in independent type(M=3.53) than in the type under the management of medical department(M=3.19) and the evaluation of nursing quality has shown higher point in independent type(M=3.33) than in the type under the management of medical department(M=3.05), The area which showed the highest difference of the degree of the function of nursing management between the two organizations was in the activities of personnel and administration management of nursing department (independent type M=3.22. the type under the management of medical department(M=2.85). The degree of function of general nursing management showed higher in independent type nursing organization than in the type under the management of medical department by 3.41 in independent type and 3.11 in the type under the management of medical department. The items which showed the lowest degree of function of nursing management of both organizations have been suitable nursing man power and distribution and the reflection of the opinion of nursing department. In conclusion. the degree of function of nursing management to be able to provide quality nursing for the hospital goal of quality medical works showed visibly higher in independent nursing organization than in the nursing organization under the management of medical department. Therefore it is desirable for the hospital to operate the nursing department in hospital organization by independent type rather than the type under the management of medical department and the chief of nursing department of the nursing organization of the type under the management of medical department should make effort to reform its structure to be able to establish the position of performing independent nursing management. And also the chief of the nursing organization of independent type should endeavor to build substantial independent type organization more than ever under the viewpoint of securing suitable nursing man power and the low degree of management in the reflection of the opinion of nursing department.
The study purpose was to find which factors affect selection of hospital network types. This study used the 1998 American Hospital Association Annual Survey Database from Health Forum. Among these U.S. hospitals, the researcher selected hospitals located in Metropolitan Statistical Areas. Therefore the final observation cases for analysis are 1,971 Metropolitan Statistical Area hospitals in the United States. To identify significant variables influencing hospital network types, the study used proportional odds logistics regression model on population size, Health Maintenance Organization penetration rate, and market competition rate of area including a hospital, types of hospital ownership, hospital bed size, proportion of Medicare patients and Medicaid patients in total hospital patients, and occupancy rate. Contrary to conventional wisdom, selection of hospital network types was influenced by population size of area which a hospital located, types of ownership, hospital bed size, and proportion of medicare patients rather than Health Maintenance Organization penetration. Population size 1,000,000-2,499,999 had the highest probability of selecting type IV (clinical-vertical integration) from an independent hospital, and a religious group owned hospitals and for-profit owned hospitals had the highest probability of selecting Type IV (clinical-vertical integration) from an independent hospital. A bed size had positive relation on selecting Type IV (clinical-vertical integration) from an independent hospital. Unlikely general belief that the selecting types of hospital network was determined by the change of health insurance policy such as Health Maintenance Organizations and Preferred Provider Organizations, the types of hospital network were influenced by community characteristics such as population size, and hospital characteristics.
