  • This study aimed to prepare the fundamental data and assess the status and trend of exposure level for 5 chemical substances such as sulfuric acid, hydrogen chloride, ammonia, formaldehyde and phenol in manufacturing industry by type of industry, working process, and size of factory, chronological change. Subjects related to this study consist of 146 factories, 12 industries and 17 working processes located in Busan area from Jan. 1997 to Dec. 2001. 1. All 5 kinds of chemical substances by type of industry, working process were generated in chemical manufacturing industry. There were founded in 8 types of industries and 13 types of working processes for ammonia, which is the highest number of in all 5 chemical substances. 2. In terms of the exposure level for 5 chemical substances by type of industry, working process, geometric mean concentration for sulfuric acid was $0.40mg/m^3$ in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, $0.30mg/m^3$ in compounding process, for hydrogen chloride was 0.57 ppm in manufacture of basic metal, 0.48 ppm in dyeing process, for ammonia was 1.11 ppm in manufacture of rubber and plastic products, 0.94 ppm in buffing process, for formaldehyde was 0.49 ppm in manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles straw and plating materials, 0.53 ppm in mixing process, and for phenol were 0.53 ppm in manufacture of chemical and chemical products, 0.55 ppm in compounding process, respectively. Results for 5 chemical substances by type of industry and working process were significantly higher than those of the others(p<0.05). 3. The exposure level for hydrogen chloride, formaldehyde were significantly increased by size of industry (p<0.01). ammonia was significantly decreased by size of industry (p<0.01). 4. In trend of the concentration difference of five chemical substances by chronology, geometric mean concentration for sulfuric acid was significantly increased (p<0.01), hydrogen chloride and ammonia were significantly decreased by year (p<0.05) and for formaldehyde and phenol were decreased in chronological change. According to the above results 5 chemical substances were founded together in a way mixed in the same places one another and concentrations of chemical substances by industry, working process, size of industry and year appeared markedly. The authors recommend more systemic and effective work environmental management should be conducted in workplaces generating five chemical substances.

  • This is a case study of Gangnam S University Hospital applying a par level transfer system for reagent materials. The purpose of this study is evaluated on the cutting down on inventory expenses and medical service revenue in the point of resource based view. The data was acquired through the financial statement of Gangnam S Hospital for the fiscal year 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, and compared with the Korea health industry statistics index for hospital accounts based on the materials in Korea Health Industry Development Institute. The results of the study are as follows. Medical reagent materials expenditure cut down as 305 million won through 2009 fiscal year. Medical profits for the Gangnam S University hospital's income statement in 2011 show well over acquired 3.37 billion won through the enlarged diagnostic test numbers. In conclusion, Gangnam S University Hospital health statistics's index shows very high profits. The results of this study have some limitations in terms of generalization as only one hospital in Seoul. Further studies with relationship inventory performance and enlarged reagent materials are expected in this area.

  • Purpose - Clarifying one of the biggest public Hospital Costs and incomes according to patients' case mix. It leads to prepare financial information about pubic medical tariffs and hospital operational costs. Research design, data, and methodology - This study calculates the costs both, with and without taking into account capital costs. This holds for comparison of hoteling based on case mix in all medical procedures. The checklists were reviewed and filled by reviewing accounting documents of the hospital, warehouse exclusion list, and daily books of laundry and CSR. Data was analyzed descriptively by using Excel. Results - In both cases, the hospital is losing in terms of hoteling. Because the buildings and equipment are new, this loss is not tangible. However, this will be revealed when costs of reconstruction and replacement of equipment. The loss rate per day of hospitalization was 569318 Rials for Coronary Care Unit (CCU), 528171 Rials for Post Intensive Care Unit (Post ICU), 474570 Rials for ICU, 233183 Rials for Post CCU and 204803 for Surgical ward. Conclusions - Income of hoteling was lower than its costs. ANOVA showed a strong relationship between case mix and hospital costs as well as case mix and its income. This suggests that optimal case mix can minimize the costs and maximize income.

  • Hospital costing has generally been using ABC costing method. However, based on increase of expensive equipment, the fixed cost is increased in the hospital industry. The most common equipment industry are using building block costing method for depreciation and equipment management costing elements. Additionally it presents three options that may be considered to be supported by the IT system to find the most appropriate alternative.

  • The purpose of this paper is to provide the comprehensive review of empirical investigations in strategy content in healthcare organizations. Given the absence of relevant reviews in assessing an external validity of strategy content research in the healthcare industry, the paper, by taking convergent view, discern two main streams of research in the school of content: (1) the strategy-structure-performance (SSP) contingent, and (2) competitive strategies which test the propositions that business strategy, industry structure (IO economics). Finally, the paper suggests some future direction for research in this area.
