To investigate the causalities of the factors, we collected national wide samples of 144 hospitals, 721 healthcare staffs, 1456 patients, and 1455 guardians of the patients. Followed were contributions of this study. First, healthcare staffs and patients were commonly related by service quality, which meant the increase of healthcare staffs' perceived service quality led to increase of patients' perceived service quality. Second, healthcare staffs and guardians of patients were also related by perceived service quality. Third, patients' perceived service quality would lead to service satisfaction of patients, Fourth, guardians' perceived service quality would also lead to service satisfaction of guardians. The findings implied service managers of hospital settings should pay attention to healthcare staffs' perception of service quality as well as those of patients and guardians. With such strategy, hospitals could survive the drastically changing environments of current healthcare service area.

  • In this study, we examined the effects of high-performance work system(HPWS) on healthcare staffs' patient orientation and perceived service quality. To investigate the causalities of the factors such as HPWS, patient orientation, and perceived service quality, we collected national wide samples of 721 healthcare staffs from 144 hospitals. We deployed reliability analysis(Cronbach ${\alpha}$) and confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) for the factors. With 4 proposed hypotheses, we fabricated a structural equation model with AMOS 7.0 and examined the validity of the hypotheses. Followed were findings of this study. First, the healthcare staffs' perceptions of HPWS in hospital settings were positively linked to the perceived service quality. Second, the intensity of HPWS also influenced the healthcare staffs' patient orientation. Third, the perceptions of patient orientation were positively linked to the perceptions of service quality. • Background: The study describes the changes resulted from imposition on tertiary hospital outpatient coinsurance rate rise policy and in tertiary or general hospital drug coverage rise policy on healthcare service utilization. Methods: Accordingly, the hypothesis about outpatient healthcare utilization after rise policy in outpatient coinsurance rate and drug coverage was established, using interrupted time-series analysis and segmented regression analysis to test the hypothesis. 5-year analysis period (2007. 3-2012. 3) from the outset year was designated, the data about most common 10 high-ranking of the main diseases targeting visiting patient from age of 6 to 64 were collected. Results: The summary on the major research is followed. First, the medical expense and duration of treatment tends to be increased in case of imposition about rise policy in outpatient coinsurance rate in the tertiary hospital under the interrupted time-series analysis. It showed temporary increase and slow down on account of influenza A even after the policy enforcement. In segmented regression analysis, duration of visit and medical expense in the tertiary hospital increased temporally right after the policy implementation and the decreased rapidly depends on period. Both rise and fall is statistically significant. The second, In case of tertiary or general hospital outpatient drug coverage rise policy, all of the tertiary hospital healthcare service utilization variables by the interrupted time-series analysis, drug coverage policy in the general hospital deeply declined according to decreasing trend before policy implementation. The third, in case of segmented regression analysis, the visit duration and medical expense statistically declined right after the policy implementation in both the tertiary and general hospital. Meanwhile, administration day was statistically meaningful only for the decrease right after the policy implementation. Otherwise, general hospital changes are not statistically meaningful. And the medicine cost was statistically, meaningfully decreased after the increase in drug coverage. Conclusion: Finally, the result demonstrated according to the analysis is only 1 hypothesis is denied, the other 2 are partially supported. Then, tertiary hospital outpatient coinsurance rate increase policy comparatively makes decrease effect on long-term healthcare utilization, and tertiary or general hospital outpatient drug coverage policy showed partially short-term effect is assured.

  • Considering the increase in health insurance benefits and the elderly population of the baby boomer generation, the amount consumed by health care in 2020 is expected to account for 20% of US GDP. As the healthcare industry develops, competition among the medical services of hospitals intensifies, and the need of hospitals to manage the quality of medical services increases. In addition, interest in online reviews of hospitals has increased as online reviews have become a tool to predict hospital quality. Consumers tend to refer to online reviews even when choosing healthcare service providers and after evaluating service quality online. This study aims to analyze the effect of sentiment score of healthcare service quality on hospital rating with Yelp hospital reviews. This study classifies large amount of text data collected online primarily into five service quality measurement indexes of SERVQUAL theory. The sentiment scores of reviews are then derived by SERVQUAL dimensions, and an econometric analysis is conducted to determine the sentiment score effects of the five service quality dimensions on hospital reviews. Results shed light on the means of managing online hospital reputation to benefit managers in the healthcare and medical industry.
