In order to reduce deformation of roadway floor heave in deep underground soft rockmass, four support design patterns were analyzed using the Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua (FLAC)3D, including the traditional bolting (Design 1), the bolting with the backbreak in floor (Design 2), the full anchorage bolting with the backbreak in floor (Design 3) and the full anchorage bolting with the bolt-grouting backbreak in floor (Design 4). Results show that the design pattern 4, the full anchorage bolting with the bolt-grouting backbreak in floor, was the best one to reduce the deformation and failure of the roadway, the floor deformation was reduced at 88.38% than the design 1, and these parameters, maximum vertical stress, maximum horizontal displacement and maximum horizontal stress, were greater than 1.69%, 5.96% and 9.97%. However, it was perfectly acceptable with the floor heave results. The optimized design pattern 4 provided a meaningful and reliable support for the roadway in deep underground coal mine.
The safety evaluation of horizontal and vertical bolted connection between PHC piles is presented. The numerical analysis model is constructed using the commercial finite element program, ABAQUS, in which 3D solid element is used to model all the connection devices. The actual bolted connection is idealized by the contact and tie condition given in ABAQUS. Through the finite element analysis, the compression, tensile, bending and shear behaviors of PHC pile connection were analyzed. The safety factor based on Von-Mises and yield stress was calculated for the safety evaluation of each connection devices.
In piping systems, trapeze hangers are subjected to vertical and horizontal seismic loads and stiffeners are used. In this study, monotonic compression tests were conducted with the removable stiffeners using three variables: stiffener clamp fixing position, section length, and installation direction. The maximum load reinforced with stiffeners could withstand a compressive load of 11kN by applying a safety factor of 10%. It could be estimated that the fixing clamp spacing or the length of shape and load had a proportional relationship. And the stiffener must be fixed in the direction of the strong axis on hinge parts. Also the stiffener buckiling load design proposes to use a method of calculate the flexural buckling compressive strength of and unreinforced full threaded bolt.

Recently, in field of bridge construction, modular technology has been studied to reduce construction period. However, main stream of the study is limited to the pier, girder and deck of bridge, which are huge or main members. Studies on incidental facilities like concrete barrier is out of sight. Thus, in this study, connection system of concrete barrier was developed to apply to modular bridges and static experiment was performed in order to verify structural capability of proposed system. Variables of experiment are composed of bolt direction such as vertical and horizontal. The experimentation due to the designed variables was conducted by comparison with a standard concrete barrier, which is a traditional barrier. As a result, vertical joint way of the bolt showed nearly identical structural performance and healthy to standard specimen's. it can be applied to modular bridges.
This study is conducted to establish the structural standard of tube and coupler scaffold which is suitable for our present stuation through the comparison analysis for domestic and foreign standards as well as measurement of field survey. The results of this study are as follows : 1) The load is classified by three categories, light-duty(equal and lower than 150kg/m$^2$), medium-duty(150-250 kg/m$^2$), heavy-duty(250-350kg/m$^2$), and the equivalent horizontal length of side posts is each, 1.5-1.8m, 1.2-1.5m, equal and lower than 1.2m, and the equivalent horizontal length between front and rear posts is each 1.2-1.5m, 0.9-1.2m, equal and lower thatn 0.9m, in accordance with the load classification. 2) The height between upper and lower runner is equal and lower than 1.5m, and the brace across the width of scaffold should be installed within 15m in horizontal direction at 45 degree angle. 3) The entire scaffold should be securely tied to the wall of permanent structure with uslng anchor and bolt at intervals not to exceed 6m in case of non-connection and 4.5m in case of connection in both horizontal and vertical direction. 4) The post should be installed on the sound foundation tied to lumber footing with using base plate, and standard platform plank should be produced in the factory and widely used in the construction field.

Hybrid precast concrete panel is a wall element that is able to quickly construct the core wall structure for moderate-rise modular buildings. Hybrid precast concrete panel has unique characteristics which is a pair of C-shaped steel beams combined at the top and bottom of a concrete wall, In this study, an improved anchorage detail for vertical rebar is proposed to ensure the lateral force resistance performance of hybrid precast concrete panel emulating monolithic concrete wall. Also, the structural performance of horizontal connection is investigated experimentally with the bolt spacing parameter. And the behavior of hybrid precast concrete panel with the improved detail is compared with the monolithic concrete wall tested in a previous study. Finally, the required thickness of C-shaped steel beam to eliminate or minimize the deformation in horizontal connection is calculated by prying action equation.
This study compares two prominent design provisions, National Design Specification (NDS) and Eurocode 5, on load-carrying capacity calculations and failure analysis for mortise-tenon joints. Design procedures of double-shear connection from both provisions were used to calculate load-carrying capacity of mortise-tenon joints with eight different bolt sizes. From this calculation, the result was validated using finite element analysis and failure criteria models. Although both provisions share similar failure modes, their distinct calculation methods significantly influence the design load-carrying capacity values. Notably, Eurocode 5 predicts a 6% higher design load-carrying capacity for mortise-tenon joints with varying bolt diameters under horizontal loads and 14% higher under vertical loads compared to NDS. However, the results from failure criteria models indicate that NDS closely aligns with the actual load-carrying capacity. This indicates that Eurocode 5 presents a less conservative design and potentially requires fewer fasteners in the final timber connection design. This evaluation initiates the potential for the development of a wider range of timber connections, including mortise-tenon joints with wooden pegs.

Fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) structural shapes are readily available in civil engineering applications. Among many manufacturing techniques used for FRP structural shapes, pultrusion process is one of the most widely used techniques in civil engineering applications. Pultrusion is a manufacturing process for producing continuous lengths of reinforced polymeric plastic structural shapes with constant cross-section. Pultruded composites are attractive for structural applications because of their continuous mass production with excellent mechanical properties. This paper presents the results of investigations pertaining to the bolted connection with two bolts for the pultruded FRP (PFRP) structural members. PFRP bolted connection tests were conducted with end distance to bolt diameter ratio ($e_1/d_b$) and two types of bolt pattern such as horizontal (Pattern A) and vertical arrangement (Pattern B). As a result, it is found that the $e_1/d_b$ is recommended as the ratio of 4. In addition, it is also found that the bearing strengths at failure of the Pattern A and Pattern B have a similar value.

A type IP-2 transport package should prevent a loss or dispersal of the radioactive contents and a more than $20\%$ increase in the maximum radiation level at any external surface of the package when it were subjected to the drop test under the normal conditions of transport. If a shielding thickness of IP-2 transport package is thick, a bolted lid type may prevent a loss or dispersal of the radioactive contents than the door type of ISO containers which are generally used as a type IP-2 transport package. In this paper, to evaluate the effect of drop directions on the bolt tension and the coherence of a bolt, the drop tests of preliminary small model are tested and evaluated for seven directions before the drop test of a type IP-2 transport package with a bolted lid type under the normal conditions of transport. Seven drop directions which are a bottom-vertical drop, a lid-vortical drop. a horizontal drop and four corner drops have been carried out. Using a force sensor, the bolt tension during the drop impact is measured. The coherence of bolt is evaluated by the difference between the fastening torque of bolt before a drop test and the unfastening torque of bolt after a drop impact.
The load characteristics of engine main bearing are very important in the design of crankshaft and engine block. The stiffness of crankshaft and block, or the optimal dimension of the bearing can be determined according to the load level. This paper presents the load characteristics of engine main bearing. Two components of the main bearing load are measured during engine firing and motoring. The vertical and horizontal load components are measured by using the dynamic load cell mounted in each main bearing cap bolt. The measured main bearing loads are compared with calculated results by using the statically determinate method. The theoretical results, provided in this study, agreed well with the experimental results. The presented results are very useful for achieving optimal design of engine.
