  • Background Nipple-areolar complex (NAC) reconstruction is the final stage of breast reconstruction. Ideal reconstruction of the NAC requires symmetry in position, size, shape, texture, pigmentation, and permanent projection, and although many technical descriptions of NAC reconstruction exist in the medical literature, there is no gold standard technique. The technique devised by the authors is very versatile, with excellent results, and it enables 1-step reconstruction with optimal results in terms of shape and nipple projection. Methods Our technique consists of a combination of modified local flaps and a full-thickness skin graft. Patients were observed for 18 months to estimate the amount of retraction. This procedure was performed in 40 patients, four of them bilaterally. The duration of the follow-up was 30 months. Complications occurred in 10% of patients, and included infections (5%), ischemia (2.5%), and hematoma (2.5%). Results No cases of total nipple necrosis were reported. The NAC shape remained optimal in all cases, with a very small reduction of the vertical and horizontal diameters of the areola, which maintained its designed round shape well, and negligible retraction in the diameter and projection of the nipple. Conclusions The oval technique represents a major step forward, involving a combination of existing techniques, such as the C-V flap and the cutaneous graft, to achieve excellent results regarding areola shape and nipple projection, significantly reducing the cases of nipple ischemia. These results were substantially obtained through subcutaneous equatorial sutures, skin grafting, and flattening of the apexes of the flap.

  • The vergence controls of the parallel stereoscopic camera need only the disparity information of left and right images in horizontal direction. This paper proposed past and precise disparity value for stereoscopicimage pair in horizontal direction and the algorithm which can abstract disparity information through the HCF(Hybrid Cepstral Filter) for sign information. The proposed disparity information- extracting algorithm can obtain accurate disparity value of horizontal direction and signinformation by using both the one dimension cepstral filter which uses vertical projection data of left and right Image and the two dimension cepstral filter which uses down sampled image.

  • Type classification is a very needed step in recognizing huge character set language such as korean characters. Since most previous researches are based on the composition rule of Korean characters, it has been difficult to correctly classify composite vowel characters and problem space was not divided equally for the lack of classification of last consonant which is relatively bigger than other graphemes. In this paper, I Propose a new type classification method in which horizontal vowel is extracted before vortical vowel and last consonants are further classified into one of five small groups based on horizontal projection profile. The new method uses 19 character types which is more stable than previous 6 types or 15 types. Through experiments on 1.000 frequently used character sets and 30.614 characters scanned from several magazines, I showed that the proposed method is more useful classifying Korean characters of huge set.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide high school male shot putters training methods of gliding and delivery motion through comparative analysis of kinematic characteristics. To accomplish this purpose, three dimensional motion analysis was performed for the subjects(PKC, KKH, YDL) who participated in high school male shot putter competition on 92nd (2011), 93rd (2013) National Sports Festival. The subjects were filmed by four Sony HXR-MC2000 video cameras with 60 fields/s. The three-dimensional kinematic data of the glide, conversion and delivery phase were obtained by Kwon3d 3.1 version. The data of the shoulder rotational angles and projection angles were calculated with Matlab R2009a. The following conclusions had been made. With the analysis of the gliding and stance length ratio, the gliding length was shorter at the TG than the SG with short-long technique but the gliding and stance length ratio was 46.8:53.2% respectively. The deviation of the shots trajectory from APSS(Athlete-plus-shot-system) revealed that the PKC showed similar to "n-a-b-c-I" of skilled S-shape type, KKH and YDL showed "n-a-d-f-I'" of unskilled type. Furthermore, they showed smaller radial distance from the central axis of the APSS and the shots were away from the linear trajectory. From this characteristics, The PKC who performed more TG than SG had shorter glide with S-shape of APSS(skilled type) showed the better record than others with technical skill. But KKH and YDL had bigger glide ratio with "n-a-d-f-I'" of unskilled type and improved their records with technical factor. The projection factor had an effect on the record directly. Because PKC maintained more lower glide and transition posture with momentum transfer through COG's rapid horizontal velocity respectively the subject possessed the characteristics of high horizontal and vertical velocity with large turning radius from shot putter to APSS.

  • While diversification of the use of video in the prevalence of cheap video equipment, augmented reality can print additional real-world images and video image. Although many recent advent augmented reality techniques, currently attempting to correct the character recognition is performed. In this paper characters marked with a visual marker recognition, and the color to match the marker color of the characters finds. And, it was shown on the screen by the character recognition. In this paper, by applying the phoneme pattern segmentation algorithm by the horizontal projection, we propose to segment the phoneme to match the six types of Hangul representation. Throughout the experiment sample of phoneme segmentation using augmented reality showed proceeding result at each step, and the experimental results was found to be that detection rate was above 90%.

  • Quality assessment ai s to evaluate if a distorted image or video has a good quality by measuring the difference between the original and distorted images or videos. In this paper, to assess the visual qualify of a distorted image or video, visual features of the distorted image are compared with those of the original image instead of the direct comparison of the distorted image with the original image. We use edge projections from two images as features, where the edge projection can be easily obtained by projecting edge pixels in an edge map along vertical/horizontal direction. In this paper, edge projections are obtained by using vertical/horizontal directions of gradients as well as the magnitude of each gradient. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed quality assessment through the comparison with conventional quality assessment algorithms such as structural similarity(SSIM), edge peak signal-to-noise ratio(EPSNR), and edge histogram descriptor(EHD) methods.

  • This study was performed to find out the effect of projection errors on cephalometric linear and angular measurements according to head rotation during taking lateral cephalometric radiographs. Seventeen skulls with permanent dentition and no gross asymmetry were obtained from the Department of Anatomy, Medical School, Chosun University. Total 527 x-ray films were taken with $1^{\circ}$ interval from the reference position($0^{\circ}$) to ${\pm}15^{\circ}$ around the vertical axis (Z axis) which is perpendicular to the midpoint of the line connecting the center of two ear rods in submento-vertex direction. Statistical analysis was performed by paired t-test if there were statistically significant differences between the mean of the reference position($0^{\circ}$) and that of each rotation angle. The following results were obtained. 1. The projection errors of angular measurements were smaller than those of linear measurements. 2. The projection errors of angular measurements including midline landmarks were smaller than those including bilateral landmarks. 3. The horizontal linear measurements were gradually decreased when the stroll was rotated toward the film, but slightly increased and then decreased when the skull was rotated toward the focal spot. However, the changes were smaller in focal direction. 4. The projection errors of horizontal linear measurements were larger than those of vertical linear measurements. 5. The projection errors of vertical linear measurements were increased with increased distance from the rotation axis to vertical measurements. It is concluded that the use of angular measurements rather than linear measurements is recommended to minimize the projection errors.

  • Differential Global Positioning System-Correction Projection (DGPS-CP) algorithm, which has been suggested as a method of correcting pre-calculated position error by projecting range-domain correction to positional domain, is a method to improve the accuracy performance of a low price GPS receiver to 1 to 3 m, which is equivalent to that of DGPS, just by using a software program without changing the hardware. However, when DGPS-CP algorithm is actually realized, the error is not completely eliminated in a case where a reference station does not provide correction of some satellites among the visible satellites used in user positioning. In this study, the problem of decreased performance due to the difference in visible satellites between a user and a reference station was solved by applying the Multifunctional Transport Satellites (MTSAT) based Augmentation System (MASA) correction to DGPS-CP, instead of local DGPS correction, by using the Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) operated in Japan. The experimental results showed that the accuracy was improved by 25 cm in the horizontal root mean square (RMS) and by 20 cm in the vertical RMS in comparison to that of the conventional DGPS-CP.

  • In this paper, we report a method for the primitive segments extraction from printed Korean characters without thinning as a preliminary stage to design an efficient recognition system. The primitive segments are defined by fundamental subpatterns which are vertical(I), right sloping(/), left. sloping(\). horizontal(-), and circular segment(o). The circular segment among the five kinds of segment is different from the others in geometrical properties. Therefore, at first, the circular segment is extracted by using the closed circle of the inner boundary and the geometrical characteristics of its outer. Next, linear segments are separated from the character pattern by means of a directional coding method. Finally, primitive segments are extracted from each set of linear segments by using a projection profile which involves the fact whether the segment has branches or not. The experimental results show that this method reduces computation time and storage space in comparision with the existing methods.

  • The aim of this study was to analyze the slope stability relating to the failure of cut slopes and the characteristics of stress-strain relations obtained by limit equilibrium method, finite element method, and stereographic projection method for the reinforced cut slopes. The following conclusions were made : 1.To use stereographic projection method led to little possibility to take the toppling and wedge failure while to use the other methods led to the failure. It was recommended to reduce the slope inclination from 1:1 to 1: 1.5~1 :1.8 and adopt coir mesh method to protect the slope surface. position with the horizontal displacement after final excavation moved to the excavation base. The maximum shear strain values concentrated at the excavation base indicated the possibility to induce the local failure. 3. It was recommended that the slope inclination for blast rock with the slope height larger than l0m was 1: 0.5, 1:1, and 1: 1~1 :1.5 for hard rocks, soft and ordinary rocks, and ripping and soils, respectively. 4. Berm width criteria for blast rock with the slope height larger than l0m were recommended as follow : 2~3m per 20m slope height for hard rocks, 1 ~2m per l0m slope height for soft and ordinary rocks, 1 ~ l.5m per 5m slope height for ripping and soils.
