In the present work, a simple first-order shear deformation theory is developed and validated for a variety of numerical examples of the thermal buckling response of functionally graded sandwich plates with various boundary conditions. Contrary to the conventional first-order shear deformation theory, the present first-order shear deformation theory involves only four unknowns and has strong similarities with the classical plate theory in many aspects such as governing equations of motion, and stress resultant expressions. Material properties and thermal expansion coefficient of the sandwich plate faces are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The core layer is still homogeneous and made of an isotropic material. The thermal loads are considered as uniform, linear and non-linear temperature rises within the thickness direction. The results reveal that the volume fraction index, loading type and functionally graded layers thickness have significant influence on the thermal buckling of functionally graded sandwich plates. Moreover, numerical results prove that the present simple first-order shear deformation theory can achieve the same accuracy of the existing conventional first-order shear deformation theory which has more number of unknowns.

In this paper the propagation problems of waves nomally incident upon an anisotropic medium with arbitrary permittivity tensors are analyzed through the variational finite element method. First, a variational equation is derived from the new approach basd on the induction theorm, reactions, and reciprocity. Next, by using the finite element method, the propagation problems are solved from the obtained functional. Specially, the reflection and transmission coefficient and axis ratio are obtained on the case of normally incident upon a homogeneous and inhomogeneous anisotropic medium such as cold mgnetoplasma slab and showed agreement with those of the previous method.

Finite failure NHPP software reliability models presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this paper, proposes the Gompertz distribution reliability model, which made out efficiency application for software reliability. Algorithm to estimate the parameters used to maximum likelihood estimator and bisection method, model selection based on mean square error (MSE) and coefficient of determination$(R^2)$, for the sake of efficient model, was employed. Analysis of failure using real data set for the sake of proposing fixed shape parameter of the Gompertz distribution was employed. This analysis of failure data compared with the Gompertz distribution model of shape parameter. In order to insurance for the reliability of data, Laplace trend test was employed. In this study, the proposed Gompertz model is more efficient in terms of reliability in this area. Thus, Gompertz model can also be used as an alternative model. From this paper, software developers have to consider the growth model by prior knowledge of the software to identify failure modes which can was helped.

Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization-Time-of-Flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) is the most widely used MS technique for glycan analysis. However, the poor point-to-point and sample-to-sample reproducibility becomes a limit in glycan biomarker research. A prespotted MALDI plate which overcomes the large crystal formation of 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB) has been developed and applied for glycan analysis. A homogeneous matrix coated surface without a crystal structure was formed on a hydrophilic/ hydrophobic patterned surface using a piezoelectric device. The reproducible MALDI-TOF-MS data have been presented using MALDI imaging of beer glycan as well as serum glycan eluted from 10% and 20% ACN elution fractions. The glycan profile from the serum glycan by MALDI-TOF-MS with a DHB prespotted plate was highly conserved for 10 different spectra and the coefficient of variations of significant ion peaks of MALDI data varies from 3.59 to 19.95.

In the present study, the thermal buckling behavior of functionally graded sandwich plates is studied using a new hyperbolic displacement model. Unlike any other theory, the theory is variationally consistent and gives four governing equations. Number of unknown functions involved in displacement field is only four, as against five in case of other shear deformation theories. This present model takes into account the parabolic distribution of transverse shear stresses and satisfies the condition of zero shear stresses on the top and bottom surfaces without using shear correction factor. Material properties and thermal expansion coefficient of the sandwich plate faces are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The core layer is still homogeneous and made of an isotropic material. The thermal loads are assumed as uniform, linear and non-linear temperature rises across the thickness direction. The results reveal that the volume fraction index, loading type and functionally graded layers thickness have significant influence on the thermal buckling of functionally graded sandwich plates.

This study was performed to provide the design method for soil structure which guarantees proper safety with uncertainty of soil parameters. For this purpose, the effect of uncertainty of soil parameters for slope stability was analyzed by Bishop's simplified method and Monte Carlo simulation(MC). And reliability analysis program, RESFEM, was developed by combining elastic theory, MC, FEM, SFEM, and reliability, which can consider uncertainty of soil parameters. For factor of safety(FS) 1.0 and 1.2 by Bishop's simplified method, the probability of failure(Pf) was analyzed with varying coefficient of variation(c.o.v.) of soil parameters. The Pf increased as c.o.v. of soil parameters increased. This implies that FS is not the absolute index of slope safety, and even if FS is same, it has different Pf according to c.o.v. of soil parameters. The RESFEM was able to express the Pf at each element in slope quantitatively according to uncertainty of soil parameters. The variation of Pf with uncertainty of soil parameters was analyzed by RESFEM, and it was shown that the Pf increased as the c.o.v. of soil parameters increased.
The main purpose of this study is to derive a regression equation that predicts the individual differences in activity energy expenditure (AEE) using accelerometer during different types of activity. Two subject groups were recruited separately in time: One is a homogeneous group of 94 healthy young adults with age ranged from $20\sim35$ yrs. The other subject group has a broad spectrum of physical characteristics in terms of age and fat ratio. 226 adolescents and adults of age ranged from $12\sim57$ yrs and fat ratio from $4.1\sim39.7%$ were in the second group. The wireless 3-axis accelerometers were developed and carefully fixed at the waist belt level. Simultaneously the total calorie expenditure was measured by gas analyzer. Each subject performed walking and running at speeds of 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.5, and 8.5 km/hr. A generalized sensor-independent regression equation for AEE was derived. The regression equation was developed fur walking and running. The regression coefficients were predicted as functions of physical factors-age, gender, height, and weight with multivariable regression analysis. The generalized calorie estimation equation predicts AEE with correlation coefficient of 0.96 and the average accuracy of the accumulated calorie was $89.6{\pm}7.9%$.

The simulation of refrigeration cycle is important since the experimental approach is costly and time-consuming. The present paper focuses on the simulation of a refrigeration cycle equipped with a capillary tube-suction line heat exchanger(SLHX), which is widely used in small vapor compression refrigeration systems. The present simulation is based on fundamental conservation equations of mass, momentum, and energy. These equations are solved through an iterative process. The non-adiabatic capillary tube model is based on homogeneous two-phase flow model. This model is used to understand the refrigerant flow behavior inside the non-adiabatic capillary tube. The simulation results show that both of the location and length of heat exchange section influence the coefficient of performance (COP).
A homogeneous and stable, amorphous-type, anorthite (CaO $Al_2$$O_3$$2SiO_2$)powder was synthesized by an organic-inorganic steric entrapment route. Polyvinyl alcohol ( PVA) was used as an organic carrier for the precursor ceramic gel. The PVA content, its degree of polymerization and type of silica sol had a significant influence on the calcination and crystallization behavior of the precursors. For densifiction and crystallization at low temperature, porous and soft, amorphous-type anorthite powder was planetary milled for 20h. The milled powder crystallized to stable anorthite phase and densified to a relative density of 94% below $1000^{\circ}C$. In the development of crystalline phases of the planetary milled powder, omisteinbergite phase was unusually observed at $900^{\circ}C$, and then anorthite was observed at $950^{\circ}C$. The sintered anorthite had a thermal expansion coefficient of $4.6$\times$10^{-6}$ /$^{\circ}C$ and a dielectric constant of 7.5 at 1 MHz. Finally, the anorthite synthesized by the new process is expected to be an useful material for low-firing ceramic substrate.
The cordierite powders were prepared from Mg(NO3)2.6H2O, Al(NO3)3.9H2O and colloidal silica by the coprecippitation method, and the sintering behavior of the powders were investigated. Two different methods were applied for producing the precursor powders. The one was to added the aqueous solution of Mg(NO3)2.6H2O and Al(NO3)3.9H2O to NH4OH to adjust pH at 10 where the colloidal silica of pH 10 was added. The other wa to add the aqueous solution of Mg(NO3)2.6H2O and Al(NO3)3.9H2O to the colloidal silica with NH4OH to control the final mixture to be at pH 10. It was confirmed that more homogeneous powders were obtained from the latter method. The firing linear shrinkage of the powder compacts fabricated from the calcined powder between 90$0^{\circ}C$ and 110$0^{\circ}C$ was found to be larger as the calcination temperature was low. But all of them stopped shrinking around 120$0^{\circ}C$. The powder compacts, fabricated using the calcined powders at 90$0^{\circ}C$ and 95$0^{\circ}C$ for 2hours and sintered at 142$0^{\circ}C$ for 2hours, showed relative density of 93-96%, 3-point bending strength of 81-83MPa, KIC of 1.9-2.4 MPam1/2 and thermal expansion coefficient of 0.213-0.732$\times$10-6$^{\circ}C$.
