The elliptic relaxation model(ERM) with the inhomogeneous correction intermediate between near wall with and far from the wall. The source of the ERM usually was appled quasi-homogeneous pressure-strain correlation in homogeneous situations. This formulation was easily applied to the linear model or non-linear pressure-strain model. It is observed that the boundary conditions of the relaxation operator dominate the homogeneous pressure-strain model in the near wall region. While looking at high-Reynolds number flows, it was found necessary to modify the effect of the relaxation operator throughout the log region by accounting for gradients of the flatness variable and turbulent length scales. These effects are kinematic blocking of the wall normal velocity fluctuation and pressure reflections from the surface. This model is wall distances and unit vectors which make the model applicable to flows boundary by a complex geometry. Inhomogeneous correction model is computed inertial and non-inertial channel flow These are compared DNS(Kim et at., Kristofffrsen & Andersson) for channel flow. The present model could be predicted well for rotating flows.
The purpose of this study is to calculate the behavior of molecules for the generation of homogeneous thin-films in the process of spray deposition. The calculation system was composed of a suface molecular region and droplet molecular region. The thin-film was generated when droplet molecules fell to surface molecules. Lennard-Jones potential had been used as intermolecular potential, and only attraction 때 d repulsion had been used for the behavior of the droplet on the solid surface. As results, the behavior of the droplet was so much influenced by the surface temperature in the spray deposition process. High temperature of surface has higher porosity and larger spread area. It was found that simulation results generally agreed well with previous the experimental results. This simulation result will be the foundation for the deposition processes of industry.

In this study, flood records from 79 sites across Thailand were analyzed to estimate flood indices using the regional frequency analysis based on the L-moments method. Observation sites were grouped into homogeneous regions using k-means and Ward's clustering techniques. Among various distributions evaluated, the generalized extreme value distribution emerged as the most appropriate for certain regions. Regional growth curves were subsequently established for each delineated region. Furthermore, 20- and 100-year return values were derived to illustrate the recurrence intervals of maximum rainfall across Thailand. The predicted return values tend to increase at each site, which is associated with growth curves that could describe an increasing long-term predictive pattern. The findings of this study hold significant implications for water management strategies and the design of flood mitigation structures in the country.

Snowfall is an important natural hazard in Korea. In recent years, the socioeconomic importance of impact-based forecasts of meteorological phenomena have been highlighted. To further develop forecasts, we first need to analyze the climatic characteristics of each region. In this study, homogeneous regions for snowfall analysis were classified using a self-organizing map for impact-based forecast and warning services. Homogeneous regions of snowfall were analyzed into seven clusters and the characteristics of each group were investigated using snowfall, observation days, and maximum snowfall. Daegwallyeong, Gangneung-si, and Jeongeup-si were classified as areas with high snowfall and Gyeongsangdo was classified as an area with low snowfall. Comparison with previous studies showed that representative areas were well distinguished, but snowfall characteristics were found to be different. The results of this study are of relevance to future policy decisions that use impact-based forecasting in each region.
Multi-axial forging (MAF), a severe plastic deformation technique, is known to be difficult to obtain materials with homogeneous microstructures. Recently, multi-axial diagonal forging (MADF) process has been developed to solve this problem. In this study, in order to compare the microstructural and mechanical homogeneities of the MAFed and MADFed samples, oxygen-free copper (OFC) cubes measuring 25 mm in length were deformed through MAF and MADF processes and the average grain size and hardness were measured at the edge, face, and center regions of the samples. In the MAFed samples, ultrafine grains were formed at the center region, but a considerable amount of coarse grains remain at the face region. Therefore, the MAFed samples showed a high inhomogeneity in regards to grain size and hardness. On the contrary, in the case of the MADFed sample, the grain sizes at the edge, face, and center regions were similar and the hardness in all the regions are almost similar. This indicates that the MADFed sample has a homogeneous microstructure and uniform mechanical properties, which can be attributed to the homogeneous distribution of the effective strain throughout the material. The results of this study suggests that the MADF is a suitable process in the fabrication of high-strength copper materials with a homogeneous and ultrafine grain structure.

We study seismically induced, anti-plane strain wave motion in a non-homogeneous geological region containing tunnels. Two different scenarios are considered: (a) The first models two tunnels in a finite geological region embedded within a laterally inhomogeneous, layered geological profile containing a seismic source. For this case, labelled as the first boundary-value problem (BVP 1), an efficient hybrid technique comprising the finite difference method (FDM) and the boundary element method (BEM) is developed and applied. Since the later method is based on the frequency-dependent fundamental solution of elastodynamics, the hybrid technique is defined in the frequency domain. Then, an inverse fast Fourier transformation (FFT) is used to recover time histories; (b) The second models a finite region with two tunnels, is embedded in a homogeneous half-plane, and is subjected to incident, time-harmonic SH-waves. This case, labelled as the second boundary-value problem (BVP 2), considers complex soil properties such as anisotropy, continuous inhomogeneity and poroelasticity. The computational approach is now the BEM alone, since solution of the surrounding half plane by the FDM is unnecessary. In sum, the hybrid FDM-BEM technique is able to quantify dependence of the signals that develop at the free surface to the following key parameters: seismic source properties and heterogeneous structure of the wave path (the FDM component) and near-surface geological deposits containing discontinuities in the form of tunnels (the BEM component). Finally, the hybrid technique is used for evaluating the seismic wave field that develops within a key geological cross-section of the Metro construction project in Thessaloniki, Greece, which includes the important Roman-era historical monument of Rotunda dating from the 3rd century A.D.
In this work, we propose new method of sigma filtering for efficient filtering and preserving edge regions in DCT Domain. In block-based image compression technique, the image is first divided into non-overlapping $8{\times}8$ blocks. Then, the two-dimensional DCT is computed for each $8{\times}8$ block. Once the DCT coefficients are obtained, they are quantized using a specific quantization table. Quantization of the DCT coefficients is a lossy process, and in this step, noise is added. In this work, we combine IDCT matrix and filter matrix to a new matrix to simplify filtering process to remove noise after IDCT in spatial domain, for each $8{\times}8$ DCT coefficient block, we determine whether this block is edge or homogeneous region. If this block is edge region, we divide this $8{\times}8$ block into four $4{\times}4$ sub-blocks, and do filtering process for sub-blocks which is homogeneous region. By this process, we can remove blocking artifacts efficiently preserving edge regions at the same time.
Many building detection methods mainly rely on line segments extracted from aerial or satellite imagery. Building detection methods based on line segments, however, are difficult to succeed in high resolution satellite imagery such as IKONOS imagery, for most buildings in IKONOS imagery have small size of roofs with low contrast between roof and background. In this paper, we propose an efficient method to extract line segments and group them at the same time. First, edge preserving filtering is applied to the imagery to remove the noise. Second, we segment the imagery by watershed method, which collects the pixels with similar intensities to obtain homogeneous region. The boundaries of homogeneous region are not completely coincident with roof boundaries due to low contrast in the vicinity of the roof boundaries. Finally, to resolve this problem, we set up snake model with segmented region boundaries as initial snake's positions. We used a greedy algorithm to fit a snake to roof boundary. Experimental results show our method can obtain more .correct roof boundary with small size and low contrast from IKONOS imagery. We propose an efficient method of extracting targets within a region of interest in non-homogeneous infrared images by using a principal component analysis (PCA) plane and adaptive Gaussian kernel. Existing approaches for extracting targets have been limited to using only the intensity values of the pixels in a target region. However, it is difficult to extract the target regions effectively because the intensity values of the target region are mixed with the background intensity values. To overcome this problem, we propose a novel PCA based approach consisting of three steps. In the first step, we apply a PCA technique minimizing the total least-square errors of an IR image. In the second step, we generate a binary image that consists of pixels with higher values than the plane, and then calculate the second derivative of the sum of the square errors (SDSSE). In the final step, an iteration is performed until the convergence criteria is met, including the SDSSE, angle and labeling value. Therefore, a Gaussian kernel is weighted in addition to the PCA plane with the non-removed data from the previous step. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves better segmentation performance than the existing method.
