As you known well, Ulsan port is very famous for handling chemical products which occupies about 80% of quantities of all Korean ports. Many ship's operators prefer to handle liquid cargo es at proper anchorages instead of the berth for saving port expenses. Ulsan M-10 anchorage was assigned for handling liquid cargoes, however this anchorage's space is restricted by the oil pipeline which lays under seabed about 400m off from the center of M-10 anchorage, for which we have to consider of the external force and counter force for keeping the safety of anchoring. Where, external force is induced by wind, tidal currents and wave while counter force is induced by holding power of anchor/chain. In this study, author evaluated a method to analyze theoretically the limit of external force condition up to which an anchoring ship can keep her position without dragging, and for which applied to many kinds of combined Ships as mother ship of 50,000 DWT Tanker and 4 sizes of Tanker as alongsided ship.
Pyrotechnic devices are widely used for space appendages. However, a cube satellite requirements do not permit the use of explosive pyrotechnic device. A nichrome burn wire release has typically been used for holding and release of deployable appendages of the cube satellite due to its simplicity and low cost. However, relatively low mechanical constraint force and system complexity for application of multi-deployable systems are disadvantages of the conventional mechanism. To overcome these drawbacks, we have developed a segmented nut type holding and release mechanism based on the nichrome burn wire release. The great advantages of the mechanism are much lower shock level and larger constraint force than the conventional mechanism using pyro. Flight model for on-orbit verification was developed and verified through release function test, vibration test and thermal vacuum test.
As a basic experiment for robot hand for transplanting plug seedling, the experimental robot hand system which moves up and downward vertically, and allows hand blade to open and close was made. The system was constructed with the robot hand mechanism, the tray, the plug seedling, and the measuring equipments. The penetrating force and holding efficiency were analyzed according to the soil moisture and the variation of hand blade angle. The highest holding efficiency could be obtained at the penetrating angle of approximately from 0 to 0.36 degree and at the moisture content of soil from 71% to 75%. The external force acted on the robot hand should maximum force when the robot hand was penetrated to soil, minimum of approximately 30.4 N when the penetrating angle was 0$^{\circ}$ and moisture content was 66-70%. It was increased with increasing or decreasing the Penetrating angle from 0 degree and also with increasing or decreasing the moisture content of soil from 66-70%. For optimal design of the robot hand and manipulator, the external force acted on robot hand had to be based on the returning force of soil, when the robot hand was penetrated to the soil. In consideration of safety ratio, the appropriate external force seemed to be 39-49 N.
In general, a high tension on the anchor and chain is placed when a ship at anchor is subjected to heavy weather. Mariners have to pay attention to whether dragging anchor occurs to keep the safety of the ship at anchorage since it is difficult to maintain the stable motion of ship and it causes collisions with other ships nearby. In this paper, the ship motion against the external forces was shown to obtain the fundamental data about characteristic of holding power due to nature of seabed at anchor, so practical trials were carried out in rocky area and muddy area using a trial ship around coastal area of South Korea. In muddy seabed, holding power showed reasonable tension values depending on the distance from anchor position of continuing swing motions of a ship corresponding to wind force. Meanwhile in rocky seabed, tension values on the chain appeared very high occasionally regardless of the distance from the anchor position and seemed to exceed its holding power to be the breaking strain of the chain although weather was not in a severe condition. Therefore, some of the cables laid on the seabed were presumed to be caught in a crack on the rock. It is assumed that even a small amount of external force may cause the chain to break in a moment in rocky seabed. Additionally, wind and current forces had a somewhat contradictory effect on holding power of the ship between them.
In this study, the differences of holding power according to the shape and weight distribution of concrete weight used in shellfish shell fishery were investigated through the experiments. To investigate the differences in shape, five bar-shaped concrete weights with the same length and different cross-sectional shapes were produced. The sectional shape of each weight was square, triangle, circle, small cross, and large cross (SQ, TR, CI, CR-S, CR-L). Ten rectangular parallelepiped weights with different bottom area and cross-sectional area were produced. To investigate the differences by the weight distribution, the holding power on the square model (SQ) with six 50 g weights at different positions was investigated. All the holding power was obtained by measuring the tensile force generated when the concrete weight was pulled at a constant speed on the sand. As a result, there were no differences in holding power between the ten rectangular weights. However, the experiment on weights with different cross-sectional shapes showed differences in holding power. The holding power was higher in the order of CR-L > CR-S > CI > TR > SQ. In the weight distribution test, the holding power was higher as the front side of the weight was heavier. Generally, the frictional force is the same even if the shape is different, when two objects have the same value in the weight and the roughness. On the other hand, it seems to have a large impact when the shape of the bottom is deformed in the course of pulling the object. Particularly, the larger the degree of protrusion like cruciform weights, the more the holding power increased while deeply digging the bottom. It is also likely that the holding power increases as the front weight increases.

This paper describes the design of a force applying system for a smart phone curved glass molding system and its characteristic test. The force applying system is composed of a motor and gear, a rectilinear movement structure, a force sensor, an LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) sensor, an up and down moving block, and so on. The system precisely controls the applying force and time to the plane glass because the glass can be easily destroyed under applied force, and can be bent imperfectly. As a result of the characteristic test, the curved glass can be manufactured using this system, and the holding time under 0N force, the applying force to the plane glass, the time for applying from 0N to maximum force, and the holding time under maximum force at the manufacture feasible temperature $620^{\circ}C$ were found.
This paper describes the evaluation of a force-reflecting interface with ultrasonic motors(USMs). The force-reflecting interface allows a human to feel object within virtual environment. To effectively display the mechanical impedance of the human hand we need a haptic device with specific characteristics, such as low inertia, almost zero friction and very high stiffness. USMs have attracted considerable attention as the actuator satisfied these conditions. USMs combine features such as high driving torque at low rotational speed, high holding torque and fast response therefore we studied two degree of freedom force-reflecting haptic system.
Variation of contact pressure causes change of friction coefficient, which in turn changes stress distribution in the sheet being formed and final springback. In the present study, U-draw bending experiments were carried out under constant blank holding force(BHF) and different blank sizes, and finite element analysis was conducted with and without considering contact pressure effect on friction. When the BHF was sufficiently high, the degree of springback was different between constant blank holding pressure condition and that with varying blank holding pressure. Finite element analysis considering the influence of contact pressure effect on friction could explain the occurrence of springback.

As larger ships and floating offshore structures are, and rougher the marine environment becomes nowadays, a drag embedment type anchor of more stable performance and higher holding power is requested. This paper describes an experimental study of the drag embedding motion and the resultant holding force of three types of drag embedment type anchor model (HALL, AC-14, SEC POOL-N, scale 1/10).
