The focus of this article is on the process of cultivating students' interests so that they come to view mathematics as an activity worthy of their engagement. We first define and operationalize the notion of interests, in the process developing a perspective in which they are seen to be generative, to evolve, and to be deeply cultural. We concretize this perspective by presenting an analysis of a classroom design experiment that documents both the process by which the students' interests evolved and the means by which these developments were supported. We then frame the analysis as a case in which to tease out the implications for a nascent design theory of mathematical interests and in doing so give particular attention to the issue of equity in students' access to significant mathematical ideas

In Donaldson-Thomas theory, moduli spaces are locally the critical locus of a holomorphic function defined on a complex manifold. In this paper, we develop a theory of critical virtual manifolds which are the gluing of critical loci of holomorphic functions. We show that a critical virtual manifold X admits a natural semi-perfect obstruction theory and a virtual fundamental class $[X]^{vir}$ whose degree $DT(X)=deg[X]^{vir}$ is the Euler characteristic ${\chi}_{\nu}$(X) weighted by the Behrend function ${\nu}$. We prove that when the critical virtual manifold is orientable, the local perverse sheaves of vanishing cycles glue to a perverse sheaf P whose hypercohomology has Euler characteristic equal to the Donaldson-Thomas type invariant DT(X). In the companion paper, we proved that a moduli space X of simple sheaves on a Calabi-Yau 3-fold Y is a critical virtual manifold whose perverse sheaf categorifies the Donaldson-Thomas invariant of Y and also gives us a mathematical theory of Gopakumar-Vafa invariants.

본 연구는 질적 연구를 시작하는 초보 연구자들을 위해 질적 연구의 기본적인 배경 학적 이론과 방법의 틀을 제시하고, 특수체육에서 질적 연구의 질을 평가하는 기준을 제시하는 데 있다. 첫째, 질적 연구의 기본이 되는 인식론의 이해를 설명하였다. 둘째, 질적 연구에서 가장 많이 활용되는 자료 수집 방법론을 제시하였다. 셋째, 질적 연구에서 자료 분석 방법과 타당성 확보의 근거를 제시하였다. 마지막으로, 특수체육 영역에서 활용되는 질적 연구 질의 평가 기준을 제시하였다. 국 내외 특수체육 분야에서 질적 연구의 숫자는 계속 늘어나고 있고 그 중요성 또한 계속 강조되고 있다. 질적 연구는 연구자들이 참여자들을 관찰, 이해, 분석 그리고 해석하는 과정을 요구하기 때문에 연구자의 역할은 대단히 중요하다. 따라서, 질적 연구를 처음 시작하는 연구자들은 질적 연구의 본질적인 이해와 연구 방법론의 습득이 요구된다. 또한, 지속적인 질적 연구의 질의 평가로 좀 더 깊이 있는 질적 연구의 결과물이 특수체육 분야에 적용돼야 할 것이다.
