Background: This study was aimed at reducing depression and improving the quality of life and oral health of the elderly Koreans by elucidating the effect of depression on their life quality and oral health. Methods: Original data from the 8th National Health and Nutrition Survey (2019) were analyzed and implemented. The elderly (age≥65years) Koreans were enrolled. The oral health status was determined using the Decayed, Missing, Filled Teeth (DMFT) index and subjective self-report. The quality of life was quantified as the sum of score of each item in the Euro Qol-5 dimension (EQ-5D) and Health-related Quality of Life Instrument with 8 Items (HINT-8). The t-test, one-way analysis of variance, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed to statistically compare the quality of life, oral health status, and oral health status according to the depression status. Results: EQ-5D and HINT-8 scores differed significantly with the history of depression, current depression, stress perception, depression for 2 weeks, and annual suicidal intention (p≤0.05). The DMFT index score differed significantly with the depression diagnosis and depression for 2 weeks (p≤0.05). EQ-5D, HINT-8, and DMFT index differed significantly with all oral health behavior variables (p≤ 0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study could serve as a basis to formulate oral health programs for the elderly to reduce depression and improve the quality of life.

It has long been known that high-frequency sensorineural hearing loss (HFHL) can contribute to difficulty in speech understanding by elderly listeners. This study evaluated the relative contribution of HFHL and age to speech understanding. Subjects included adult middle-aged and old groups with normal hearing or with limited HFHL. The Hearing-in-Noise-Test (HINT) was used to measure speech perception performance in quiet and in noise. The middle-aged groups showed significant effects of HFHL for speech intelligibility in quiet and in noise, but the old groups showed the difference in quiet only due to high frequency hearing. The results suggest that HFHL may affect speech intelligibility differently with age and therefore hearing aid selection needs to take into account the influence of age.

Objectives: Few attempts have been made to develop a generic health-related quality of life (HRQoL) instrument and to examine its validity and reliability in Korea. We aimed to do this in our present study. Methods: After a literature review of existing generic HRQoL instruments, a focus group discussion, in-depth interviews, and expert consultations, we selected 30 tentative items for a new HRQoL measure. These items were evaluated by assessing their ceiling effects, difficulty, and redundancy in the first survey. To validate the HRQoL instrument that was developed, known-groups validity and convergent/discriminant validity were evaluated and its test-retest reliability was examined in the second survey. Results: Of the 30 items originally assessed for the HRQoL instrument, four were excluded due to high ceiling effects and six were removed due to redundancy. We ultimately developed a HRQoL instrument with a reduced number of 20 items, known as the Health-related Quality of Life Instrument with 20 items (HINT-20), incorporating physical, mental, social, and positive health dimensions. The results of the HINT-20 for known-groups validity were poorer in women, the elderly, and those with a low income. For convergent/discriminant validity, the correlation coefficients of items (except vitality) in the physical health dimension with the physical component summary of the Short Form 36 version 2 (SF-36v2) were generally higher than the correlations of those items with the mental component summary of the SF-36v2, and vice versa. Regarding test-retest reliability, the intraclass correlation coefficient of the total HINT-20 score was 0.813 (p<0.001). Conclusions: A novel generic HRQoL instrument, the HINT-20, was developed for the Korean general population and showed acceptable validity and reliability.

서론: 본 연구 우리나라 성인 청년, 중년, 장년층의 구강건강 관련 활동 제한이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 규명하고 성인의 구강건강관리의 중요성과 생활습관의 개선으로 삶의 질을 높이기 위한 중재전략을 마련하는데 기여하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 제8기 1차년도(2019) 국민건강영양조사 원시자료를 사용였으며, 우리나라 성인 청년 만19~29세, 중년 만30~49세, 장년 만50~64세를 대상으로 하였다. 인구사회학적 특성, EQ-5D, HINT-8과 구강 관련 활동 제한 변수로는 치통 경험 여부, 저작 불편 호소 여부, 씹기 문제, 말하기 문제를 사용하여 분석하였다. 성인의 구강 관련 활동 제한에 따른 삶의 질에 대한 차이와 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 요인을 조사하기 위해 분산분석, 다중 회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과:청년, 중년, 장년의 구강건강 관련 활동제한에 따른 EQ-5D와 HINT-8 차이는 구강 관련 활동 제한 변수에서 모두 통계적으로 유의하였다(p≦0.05). 전체 성인의 EQ-5D에 영향을 미치는 요인은 지역(읍,면,동), 성별, 가구 월 소득, 교육수준, 기초생활수급 여부, 경제활동 여부, 주관적 구강건강 상태, 치통 경험 여부, 씹기 문제, 말하기 문제, 저작 시 불편 호소 여부의 변수에서 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다(p≦0.05). 전체 성인의 HINT-8 에 영향을 미치는 요인은 성별, 가구 월 소득, 교육수준, 기초생활수급 여부, 경제활동 여부, 치통 경험 여부, 씹기 문제, 말하기 문제, 저작 시 불편 호소 여부의 변수에서 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다(p≦0.05). 결론: 성인의 신체적, 정신적, 사회적으로 준비된 노년기를 맞이할 수 있도록 하여 노년의 삶의 질을 높이기 위한 다각적 방안이 필요하다. 본 연구 결과를 기초로 성인의 구강건강증진과 삶의 질 개선을 위한 성인구강보건사업 프로그램이 개발되어야 할 것이다.

A novel inverse kinematics solution based on the back propagation neural network (NN) for redundant manipulators is developed for online obstacles avoidance. A laser transducer at the end-effctor is used for online planning the trajectory. Since the inverse kinematics in the present problem has infinite number of joint angle vectors, a fuzzy reasoning system is designed to generate an approximate value for that vector. This vector is fed into the NN as a hint input vector rather than as a training vector to guide the output of the NN. Simulations are implemented on both three- and four-link redundant planar manipulators to show the effectiveness of the proposed position control system.

This case report describe the effectiveness of combination treatment with Korean medicine for chronic functional constipation after lumbar interbody fusion. A female patient was treated for constipation lasting more than 6 months after surgery for lumbar disc herniation. For assessment, we used a NRS and Health-related Quality of Life Instrument with 8-Item Questionnaire (HINT-8). To assess changes in stool appearance, we used the Bristol Stool Scale. After 2 months of treatment, the NRS decreased from 8 to 1, the HINT-8 total score increased from 25 to 13, and the Bristol stool scale also improved. This case suggests that combined treatment with herbal medicine can improve symptoms of chronic constipation.

Even weak van der Waals (vdW) adhesion between two-dimensional solids may perturbtheir various materials properties owing to their low dimensionality. Although the electronic structure of graphene has been predicted to be modified by the vdW interaction with other materials, its optical characterization has not been successful. In this report, we demonstrate that Raman spectroscopy can be utilized to detect a few % decrease in the Fermi velocity ($v_F$) of graphene caused by the vdW interaction with underlying hexagonal boron nitride (hBN). Our study also establishes Raman spectroscopic analysis which enables separation of the effects by the vdW interaction from those by mechanical strain or extra charge carriers. The analysis reveals that spectral features of graphene on hBN are mainly affected by change in vF and mechanical strain, but not by charge doping unlike graphene supported on $SiO_2$ substrates. Graphene on hBN was also found to be less susceptible to thermally induced hole doping.

대규모 분산 공유메모리 다중처리기는 공유메모리 접근 지연시간이 크다는 약점을 지니고 있다. 이러한 다중처리기에서 모든 메모리 요청이 홈노드를 통해 이루어지는 디렉토리 기반의 캐쉬 일관성 유지 기법의 사용은 메모리 접근 지연시간을 더욱 크게 하는 요인으로 작용한다. 뿐만 아니라 메모리 접근 지연시간은 시스템의 규모가 커질수록 전체 성능에 중요한 요소로 작용하므로, 대규모 시스템에서 이를 줄이기 위해서 많은 연구들이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 메모리 읽기 지연시간을 줄이는 새로운 캐쉬 일관성 유지 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 무효화힌트를 이용하여 구현되었다. 무효화힌트는 어떤 노드가 전에 캐쉬블록을 무효화 시켰는가에 관한 정보이며, 메모리블록이 필요한 노드는 이 정보를 이용하여 홈노드의 도움 없이 직접 메모리 요청을 할 수 있다. 제안된 프로토콜의 성능을 측정하기 위하여 모의실험을 하였다. 모의실험 결과는 제안된 프로토콜에서 읽기 지연시간이 감소하는 것을 나타낸다.

본 논문에서는 고효율의 비디오 부호화를 위한 적응적인 인-루프 필터 방법을 제안한다. 최근 비디오 부호화 표준화 단체에서는 영상의 부호화 후 복원된 영상과 원본 영상과의 평균 제곱 오차(mean square error) 관점에서 오차를 최소화하는 Wiener 필터기반의 post-filter hint SEI 메시지 방법과 블록 기반의 필터 제어 방법 (block-based adaptive filter control, BAFC)에 대한 연구가 있었다. Post-filter hint SEI 메시지 방법은 후처리 필터로서 프레임간의 예측 오차를 줄이지 못하는 문제점이 있으며, BAFC 방법은 기존 H.264/AVC의 디블록킹 필터와 독립적으로 동작하기 때문에 인코더 및 디코더 영역에서 높은 연산 복잡도를 차지하는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 H.264/AVC의 디블록킹 필터와 문맥 기반으로 설계한 인-루프 필터를 적응적으로 사용함으로써 복잡도를 낮추고 부호화 효율을 높이는 인-루프 필터 방법(Low-complexity adaptive in-loop filter, LCALF)을 제안한다. 실험결과에서 제안하는 방법은 기존 방법보다 평균적으로 약 1% 정도의 비트 감소를 보이고, 동시에 디코더 영역에서 약 22% 정도의 낮은 연산 복잡도를 보인다.
