The existence of solutions of a nonlinear wave equation

  • In this paper we investigate the existence of solutions of a nonlinear wave equation $u_{tt} - u_{xx} = p(x, t, u)$$ in $H_0$, where $H_0$ is the Hilbert space spanned by eigenfunctions. If p satisfy condition $(p_1) - (p_3)$, this nonlinear gave equation has at least one solution.

  • Let T be a bounded linear operator on a complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$. An operator T is called class A operator if ${\left|{T^2}\right|}{\geq}{\left|{T^2}\right|}$ and is called class A(k) operator if $({T^*\left|T\right|^{2k}T})^{\frac{1}{k+1}}{\geq}{\left|T\right|}^2$. In this paper, we show that ${\sigma}$ is continuous when restricted to the set of class A operators and consider the tensor products of class A(k) operators.

SMOOTHERS BASED ON NONOVERLAPPING DOMAIN DECOMPOSITION METHODS FOR H(curl) PROBLEMS: A NUMERICAL STUDY

  • This paper presents a numerical study on multigrid algorithms of V-cycle type for problems posed in the Hilbert space H(curl) in three dimensions. The multigrid methods are designed for discrete problems originated from the discretization using the hexahedral Nédélec edge element of the lowest-order. Our suggested methods are associated with smoothers constructed by substructuring based on domain decomposition methods of nonoverlapping type. Numerical experiments to demonstrate the robustness and the effectiveness of the suggested algorithms are also provided.

  • In this paper, we establish the boundedness and continuity for variation operators for θ-type Calderón-Zygmund singular integrals and their commutators on the Triebel-Lizorkin spaces. As applications, we obtain the corresponding results for the Hilbert transform, the Hermit Riesz transform, Riesz transforms and rough singular integrals as well as their commutators.

  • Let H be a real Hilbert space and S = {T(s) : $0\;{\leq}\;s\;<\;{\infty}$} be a nonexpansive semigroup on H such that $F(S)\;{\neq}\;{\emptyset}$ For a contraction f with coefficient 0 < $\alpha$ < 1, a strongly positive bounded linear operator A with coefficient $\bar{\gamma}$ > 0. Let 0 < $\gamma$ < $\frac{\bar{\gamma}}{\alpha}$.   • Recently, the research on database outsourcing has been actively done with the popularity of cloud computing. However, because users' data may contain sensitive personal information, such as health, financial and location information, the data encryption methods have attracted much interest. Existing data encryption schemes process a query without decrypting the encrypted databases in order to support user privacy protection. On the other hand, to efficiently handle the large amount of data in cloud computing, it is necessary to study the distributed index structure. However, existing index structure and query processing algorithms have a limitation that they only consider single-column query processing. In this paper, we propose a grid-based multi column indexing scheme and an encrypted query processing algorithm. In order to support multi-column query processing, the multi-dimensional index keys are generated by using a space decomposition method, i.e. grid index. To support encrypted query processing over encrypted data, we adopt the Hilbert curve when generating a index key. Finally, we prove that the proposed scheme is more efficient than existing scheme for processing the exact and range query.

A New Sound Reception System using a Symmetrical Microphone Array and its Numerical Simulation

  • Sound reception system is required to detect the sound and the quadrantal direction of the other ship's horn sound, to overcome the effects of enclosed wall for navigation space, functioning as a sound barrier. However, the realized systems can only provide quadrantal information of the other ship. This paper presents a new arrangement of microphones, having geometrically symmetric deployment with the same distances between sensors and the same angles between adjacent sensors with respect to the geometrical center. The sound pressures received at microphones are transformed into the related envelope signals by applying Hilbert transform. The time delays between microphones are estimated by the correlation functions between the derived envelope signals. This envelope base processing mitigates the noises related to the reflection by ship and sea surface. Then, the directional information is easily defined by using the estimated time delays. The suggested method is verified by the generated signals using boundary element method for a small ship model with sea surface wave. The estimated direction is quite similar to the true one and therefore the proposed approach can be used as an efficient sound reception system.
