I presented three vector crustal magnetic anomaly components and six gradients by using spherical Slepian functions over the cap area of $20^{\circ}$ of radius centered on the South Pole. The Swarm mission, launched by European Space Agency(ESA) in November of 2013, was planned to put three satellites into the low-Earth orbits, two in parallel in East-West direction and one in cross-over of the higher altitude. This orbit configuration will make the gradient measurements possible in North-South direction, vertical direction, as well as E-W direction. The gravity satellites, such as GRACE and GOCE, have already implemented their gradient measurements for recovering the accurate gravity of the Earth and its temporal variation due to mass changes on the subsurface. However, the magnetic gradients have little been applied since Swarm launched. A localized magnetic modeling method is useful in taking an account for a region where data availability was limited or of interest was special. In particular, computation to get the localized solutions is much more efficient and it has an advantage of presenting high frequency anomaly features with numbers of solutions fewer than the global ones. Besides, these localized basis functions that were done by a linear transformation of the spherical harmonic functions, are orthogonal so that they can be used for power spectrum analysis by transforming the global spherical harmonic coefficients. I anticipate in scientific and technical progress in the localized modeling with the gradient measurements from Swarm and here will do discussion on the results of the localized solution to represent the three vector and six gradient anomalies over the Antarctic area from the synthetic data derived from a global solution of the spherical harmonics for the crustal magnetic anomalies of Swarm measurements.
NOAA/AVHRR data were used to analyze sea surface temperatures (SSTs) and thermal fronts (TFs) in the Korean seas. Temporal and spatial analyses were based on data from 1993 to 2000. Harmonic analysis revealed mean SST distributions of $10{\sim}25^{\circ}C$. Annual amplitudes and phases were $4{\sim}11^{\circ}C$ and $210{\sim}240^{\circ}$, respectively. Inverse distributions of annual amplitudes and phases were found for the study seas, with the exception of the East China Sea, which is affected by the Kuroshio Current. Areas with high amplitudes (large variations in SSTs) showed 'low phases' (early maximum SST); areas with low amplitudes (small variations in SSTs) had 'high phases' (late maximum SST). Empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analyses of SSTs revealed a first-mode variance of 97.6%. Annually, greater SST variations occurred closer to the continent. Temporal components of the second mode showed higher values in 1993, 1994, and 1995. These phenomena seemed to the effect of El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$. The Sobel edge detection method (SEDM) delineated four fronts: the Subpolar Front (SPF) separating the northern and southern parts of the East Sea; the Kuroshio Front (KF) in the East China Sea, the South Sea Coastal Front (SSCF) in the South Sea, and a tidal front (TDF) in the West Sea. Thermal fronts generally occurred over steep bathymetric slopes. Annual amplitudes and phases were bounded within these frontal areas. EOF analysis of SST gradient values revealed the temporal and spatial variations in the TFs. The SPF and SSCF were most intense in March and October; the KF was most significant in March and May.

In this study, squeal noise test was conducted by using the lab-scaled brake dynamometer. Squeal conditions with respect to the angle of the brake pads ($34^{\circ}30^{\circ}26^{\circ}$) and negative slope, were studied. Squeal frequency of the In-plane-like mode was confirmed by hammering test and finite element analysis. This Squeal mode was difficult to control by the pad angle variation. Also the squeal sound was found to be periodic signal which has higher harmonic components. Squeal noise is independent of the negative slope. It implies that squeal noise can reach the stick-slip oscillation.
This paper proposes a systematic approach to the modeling of the small-signal characteristics of three-phase bridge boost rectifiers under non-sinusoidal conditions. The main obstacle to the conventional synchronous d-q frame modeling approach is that it is unable to identify a steady-state under non-sinusoidal conditions. However, for most applications under non-sinusoidal conditions, the current loops of boost rectifiers are designed to have a bandwidth that is much higher than typical harmonics frequencies in order to achieve good current control for these harmonic components. Therefore a quasi-static method is applied to the proposed modeling approach. The converter small-signal characteristics developed from conventional synchronous frame modeling under different operating points are investigated and a worst case point is then located for the current loop design. Both qualitative and quantitative analyses are presented. It is observed that operating points influence the converter low frequency characteristics but hardly affect the dominant poles. The relationship between power stage parameters, system poles and zeroes is also presented which offers good support for the system design. Both the simulation and experimental results verified the analysis and proposed modeling approach. Finally, the practical case of a parallel active power filter is studied to present the modeling approach and the resultant regulator design procedure. The system performance further verifies the whole analysis.
In the past, the PWM converter had a large switching loss by hard switching and difficult to high frequency operation. The resonance converter to decrease the switching loss and EMI is required the frequency control and needed to reduce the voltage or current stress at each parts. So, this paper propose the 3-phase boost converter and the method to compensated input power factor by control the amplitude - an instantaneous value of the DC inductor current -and control the switching frequency that a modulation error by the ripple of the DC inductor current. The proposed 3-phase PWM boost converter of single phase control type can takes higher capacity and compensate the power factor by using Feed back controller at each phase for the existing 3-phase bridge rectifier type. Moreover the 3-phase full bridge type using the rectifier at each 3-phase circuit will be small size reactor and compensate input power factor by minimize harmonic components of each phase.

Bending fatigue of aluminium alloy was characterized by acoustic nonlinearity of narrow band laser-generated surface wave. The higher harmonic components generated intrinsically by arrayed line laser beam were analyzed theoretically and acoustic nonlinearity was measured successfully on the surface of fatigue damaged aluminium 6061 alloy. The acoustic nonlinearity increased as a function of fatigue cycles and has close relation with damage level. Consequently, the nonlinear acoustic technique of laser-generated surface wave could be potential to characterize surface damages subjected to fatigue.

The plasma surface modification of natural rubber vulcanizate was carried out using chlorodifluoromethane in a radio-frequency (13.56 MHz) electrodeless bell type plasma reactor. The modification was qualitatively assessed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The frictional force of the plasma-treated surface was found to decrease with the time of plasma treatment. An increase in the surface polarity, as evidenced by the decrease in contact angle of a sessile drop of water and ethylene glycol on the natural rubber vulcanizate surface, was noted with the plasma modification. In the case of similar plasma treatment of glass surface, only a reduction in the polarity was observed. The use of geometric and harmonic mean methods was found to be useful to evaluate the London dispersive and specific components of surface free energy. Irrespective of the method used for evaluation, an increasing trend in the surface free energy was noted with increasing plasma treatment time. However, the harmonic mean method yielded comparatively higher values of surface free energy than the geometric mean method. The plasma surface modification was found to vary the frictional coefficient by influencing the interfacial, hysteresis and viscous components of friction in opposing dual manners.

In this study, low noise designs for a Savonius wind turbine were numerically investigated. As was reported in our previous study, the harmonic components with a fundamental frequency higher than the BPF were identified as being dominant in the noise spectrum of a Savonius wind turbine, and these components were a result of vortex shedding. On a basis of this observation, an S-shaped blade tip is proposed as a means of reducing the noise generated by small vertical(Savonius) wind turbines. This blade induces phase differences in the shedding vortices from the blades, and thus reduces the noise from the wind turbine. The aerodynamic noise characteristics of the conventional and "S-shaped" Savonius turbines were investigated by using the Hybrid CAA method where the flow field around the turbine is computed using the CFD techniques and the radiated noise are predicted by applying acoustic analogy to the computed flow field data. The degree of noise reduction resulting from the proposed design and its reduction mechanism were confirmed by comparing the predicted noise spectrum of these turbines and the flow characteristics around them.

Brushless doubly-fed machine (BDFM) doesn't use brush and slip ring, and has advantages such as high system reliability, small capacity of its frequency converter, low system cost, adjustable power factor and speed, etc. At the same time, it has good applicable potentials on the variable frequency motors and the variable speed constant frequency generators. However, due to the complicacy and particularity of BDFM in the structure and operating mechanism, the effect of magnetic field modulation directly influences the operating efficiency of BDFM. To study the effect of different cage rotor structures on the magnetic field modulation of BDFM, the rotor magnetomotive force (MMF) of BDFM with cage rotor is studied by the analytical method. The components and features of rotor harmonic MMFs are discussed. At the same time, the method to weaken the higher harmonics is analyzed by the theoretic formulae. Furthermore, the magnetic field modulation mechanism is expounded on in detail and the relationship between the magnetic field modulation effect and the operating efficiency of BDFM is established. And then, a new method for estimating the magnetic field modulation effect is proposed. At last, the magnetic field modulation effects of four BDFM prototypes with different cage rotor structures are compared by the MMF analysis and the efficiency data of electromagnetic design. The results verify the effectiveness of the new method for estimating the magnetic field modulation effect of BDFM with cage rotor.

This study analyzed the long-term linear trends of the sea surface height around the Korea marginal seas for the period of 1993~2016 by using quantile regression. We found significant difference about 2~3 mm/year for the linear trend between OLS (ordinary least square) and median (50%) quantile regression especially in the Yellow Sea, which is affected by extreme events. Each area shows different trend for each quantile (lower (1%), median (50%) and upper (99%)). Most areas of the Yellow Sea show increasing trend in both low and upper quantile, but significant "upward divergence tendency". This implies that significant increasing trend of upper quantile is higher than that of lower quantile in this area. Meanwhile, South Sea of Korea generally shows "upward convergence tendency" representing that increasing trend of upper quantile is lower than that of lower quantile. This study also confirmed that these tendencies can be eliminated by removing major tidal components from the harmonic analysis. Therefore, it is assumed that the regional characteristics are related to the long term change of tide amplitude.
