The physiological and biochemical responses of healthy men and women to life stress were measured in order to temperature, blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR) and galvanic skin response (GSR) were selected as physiological stress indices and salivary cortisol level was used as a biochemical stres biomarker. Twenty six (male 14 and female 13) colege students were participated in the experiment. Female showed the significant higher value of salivary cortisol level (p<0.01), diastolic BP (p<0.01), and HR (p<0.01) than male. The difference of skin temperature between forehead and fingertip correlated significantly with salivary cortisol level (p<0.01). The LF(low frequency)/HF(high frequency) ratio of HRV also correlated significantly with salivary cortisol level (p<0.01). However, BP, HR and GSR corelated insignificantly with salivary cortisol level. We suggest that LF/HF ratio of HRV and skin temperature may be good indices for the assessment of life stress, and may apply to measure the stress level of individual in real time.
The refrigerating system are high efficiency and comfortable due to the automation of the system as well as enhance energy saving are contributing to driving system. Previous study the rotational frequency of the compressor was confined to the fixed condition have changed load of evaporator and condenser related about the refrigerator performance characteristic according to the evaporation load and condensation load change tries to be analyze through the experiment. The useful data for the economic driving of the freezing apparatus tries to be drawn. Consequently, it confirmed that refrigerant in the compressor overheated and as the evaporation load increased the specific volume was increased and the coolant circulation rate decreased. In confirmed that condensation load increased the compression ratio and discharge gas temperature increased. It reduced the low-temperature efficiency and condensation calorie and the quality factor was decreased.
This study focused on comparing macroscopic characteristics of DME and diesel fuel experimentally. DME fuel is one of the most promising alternative fuels because of its superiority in atomization characteristic and clearness in terms of exhaust gas compared with existing fossil fuels. In addition, DME fuel has high cetane number so it could be applied to compression ignition engine. However because DME fuel exists in gas phase at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, and it corrodes rubber parts of fuel line, DME fuel is hard to apply to commercial vehicles. To establish knowledge about DME fuel and furthermore, to develop commercial DME vehicles such as passenger cars, many research have been proceeded steadily. The present study, by comparing spray characteristics of DME fuel to those of diesel fuel, improved atomization characteristics in DME were revealed. Injection quantity measurement and spray visualization experiment were progressed and it was revealed that DME fuel shows small injection quantity than that of diesel fuel and axial development of spray in terms of spray tip penetration decreases when DME fuel was injected.
The objective of the present study is to visualize the pulsatile flow fields by using three-dimensional computer simulation and the PIV system. A closed flow loop system was built for the steady and unsteady experiments. The Harvard pulsatile pump was used to generate the pulsatile pressure and velocity waveforms. Conifer powder as the tracing particles was added to water to visualize the flow field. Two consecutive particle images were captured by a CCO camera for the image processing at several cross section. The range validation and the area interpolation methods were used to obtain the final velocity vectors with high accuracy. The finite volume predictions were used to analyze three-dimensional flow patterns in the bifurcation model. The results of the PIV experiment and the computer simulation are in good agreement and the results show the recirculation zones and formation of the paired secondary flow distal to the apex of the bifurcated model. The results also show that the branch flow is pushed strongly to the inner wall due to the inertial force effect and helical motions are generated as the flow proceeds toward the outer wall.

In this paper, authors propose the sensor fusion system that can recognize multiple 3D objects from 2D projection images and tactile information. The proposed system focuses on improving recognition performance of 3D object. Unlike the conventional object recognition system that uses image sensor alone, the proposed method uses tactual sensors in addition to visual sensor. Neural network is used to fuse these informations. Tactual signals are obtained from the reaction force by the pressure sensors at the fingertips when unknown objects are grasped by four-fingered robot hand. The experiment evaluates the recognition rate and the number of teaming iterations of various objects. The merits of the proposed systems are not only the high performance of the learning ability but also the reliability of the system with tactual information for recognizing various objects even though visual information has a defect. The experimental results show that the proposed system can improve recognition rate and reduce learning time. These results verify the effectiveness of the proposed sensor fusion system as recognition scheme of 3D object.
Polycrystalline silicon carbide (SiC) thick films were depostied by low pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD) using CH3SiCl3 (MTS) and H2 gaseous mixture onto isotropic graphite substrate. Effects of deposition variables on the SiC film were investigated. Deposition rate had been found to be surface-reaction controlled below reactor temperature of 120$0^{\circ}C$ and mass-transport controlled over 125$0^{\circ}C$. Apparent activation energy value decreased below 120$0^{\circ}C$ and deposition rate decreased above 125$0^{\circ}C$ by depletion effect of the reactant gas in the direction of flow in a horizontal hot wall reactor. Microstructure of the as-deposited SiC films was strongly influenced by deposition temperature and position. Microstructural change occurred greater in the mass transport controlled region than surface reaction controlled region. The as-deposited SiC layers in this experiment showed stoichiometric composition and there were no polytype except for $\beta$-SiC. The preferred orientation plane of the polycrystalline SiC layers was (220) plane at a high reactant gas concentration in the mass transfer controlled region. As depletion effect of reactant concentration was increased, SiC films preferentially grow as (111) plane.
[ $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ ] catalyst impregnated ceramic candle filters are in principle, capable of performing shallow-bed dust filtration plus a catalytic reaction, promoted by a catalytic deposited in their inner structure. Pilot-scale $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ catalyst impregnated ceramic candle filters were prepared, characterized and tested for their activity towards the SCR reaction. The effect on NO conversion of operating temperature, gas hourly space velocity, amount of deposited catalyst, pressure drops and long-term experiment (life of catalytic filter) was determined. The following effects of $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ catalyst impregnated ceramic candle filters in SCR reaction are observed: (1) It increases the activity and widens the temperature window for SCR. (2) When the content of $V_2O_5$ catalyst increases further from 3 to 9wt.%, activity of NO increases. (3) NO conversion at first increases with temperature and then decreases at high temperatures (above $400^{\circ} over), possibly due to the occurrence of the ammonia oxidation reaction.
According as the industry was developed, the pollution of the environment and atmosphere rose up to the surface. So, the focus is now concentrated on the engines of affinity for nature. And the investigators make more effort to the improvement in the performance of engines, depending to the prices of oil and the anxiety about the exhaustion of the fossil fuel go up. So the GDI engines head up for these necessities. In this experimental study, the spray flow characteristics for a commercial injector equipped in the present GDI engine were investigated, which had a strong influence on the engine performance and emissions. The experiment was performed at the injection pressures of 1, 3, 5 and 7MPa under the atmospheric condition. A PDPA system was used to specify the flow characteristics of the spray. Also, the global spray behavior classified into three regions as leading, main spray and vortex cloud region, was analyzed by using a visualization system. And the regions were compared with each other.
In this paper we present the numerical results of the behavior of the horizontal vortex generated by ejecting a liquid vertically upward from an orifice into the bulk fluid above the orifice. The numerical calculation has been performed for the axi-symmetric Navier-Stokes equation. A simple flow-visualization experiment was also conducted to qualitatively verify the numerical solutions. Three cases of the flow configurations studied in this paper are; firstly, the vortex was generated without any background rotation, secondly, the vortex was made under a full background rotation, and thirdly, the vortex was made during the spin-up process such that only the region adjacent to the side wall was set into motion viewed in the inertial frame of reference. It was shown that the swirl flow at the inlet boundary affects considerably the formation and development of the vortex for the second case. In the third case, it was remarkable to see that the vortex cannot penetrate into the region near to the side wall of the tank, because of the strong swirl flow and corresponding high pressure gradient in the region.
In this study, his technique was applied to a GDI spray in order to investigate the mixture distribution. In addition, the homogeneity degree and diffusion effect according to ambient temperature in the high pressure chamber were analyzed by using an entropy analysis method. From this experiment, we could find that entropy analysis is very effective method for the analysis of mixture formation, and the entropy values increase with the progress of uniformity in diffusion Process. we tried to provide the fundamental data for parameter which effects on the spray macroscopic characteristics with mixture ratio of diesel and gasoline. In addition, the mixture formation was analyzed by using entropy analysis. The entropy analysis is based on the concept of statistical entropy, and it identifies the degree of homogeneity in the fuel concentration. From the entropy analysis results we could find that the direct diffusion phenomena is a dominant factor in the formation of a homogeneous mixture at downstream of GDI spray especially in vaporizing conditions. As to increasing ambient temperature and increasing gasoline rate, the entropy intensity using the statistic thermodynamics method is increased because evaporation rate is higher gasoline than diesel.
