  • In the present study, solution algorithms for the connotation of unsteady flows on an unstructured mesh me presented Dual time stepping is incorporated to achieve the 2-nd order temporal accuracy while reducing the linearization and the factorization errors associated with a linear solver. Hence, any time step can be used by only considering physical phenomena. Gauss-Seidel scheme is used to solve linear system of equations. Rigid motion and suing analogy method for moving mesh are all considered and compared. Special treatments of suing analogy for high aspect ratio cells are presented. Finally, numerical results for oscillating ing are compared with experimental data.

  • The complex three-dimensional miniature components are needed for a wide range of applications from the aerospace to the biomedical industries. To manufacture these products, micro machining that can make a high aspect ratio part and has good accuracy is widely researched. In this paper, cutting characteristics were analyzed in micro machining using cutting force coefficients, which are the specific cutting force for normal and frictional direction of rake surface. From measured cutting force in micro end milling, cutting condition independent cutting force coefficients were determined and used for analysing the characteristics of micro cutting. The effects of particle shape on the effective thermal conductivity enhancement of nanofluids (나노유체 입자상 모양의 유효 열전도도에의 영향)

  • Nanofluids have been studied as possible alternatives for heat transfer fluids to improve the efficiency of heat exchangers. There are deviations of measured effective thermal conductivities between research-groups, and the mechanisms of the effective thermal conductivity enhancement of nanofluids are not confirmed yet. In this study, the effects of particle shape on the effective thermal conductivity enhancement are discussed and presented as a possible explanation of the deviations. The particle motion effect is found to be negligible for nanofluids of high aspect ratio cylindrical particles, which is believed to be important for nanofluids of spherical particles, while the percolation network formation and contact resistance play dominant roles in determining the effective thermal conductivity.

  • Laser ablation with femtosecond lasers is highly promising for microfabrication of materials. Also, the high peak power of femtosecond lasers could induce a multiphoton absorption to ablate transparent materials. Similar results have also been were obtained in the case of optical fibers. In this paper, we present our experimental results of femtosecond laser microstructuring of optical fiber and its applications to microelectronic components and fiber optic devices. Finally, we directly produced micro holes with femtosecond laser pulses in a single step by moving an optical fiber in a preprogrammed structure. When water was introduced into a hole drilled from the bottom surface of the optical fiber, the effects of blocking and redeposition of ablated material were greatly reduced and the aspect ratio of the depth of the hole was increased. We have presented circular and rectangular-shaped holes in optical fiber.

Effect of Graphite Nanofibers on Poly(methyl methacrylate) Nanocomposites for Bipolar Plates

  • In this work, high-aspect-ratio graphite nanofibers (GNFs) were used to improve the electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties of the poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) polymer, as well as those of PMMA composites suitable for use in bipolar plates. In the result, an electrical percolation threshold for the composites was formed between 1 and 2 wt% GNF content. This threshold was found to be influenced strongly by the three separate stages of the meltblending process. The composites exhibited higher thermal and mechanical properties and lower thermal shrinkage compared with the neat PMMA. Thus, GNFs were demonstrated to have positive impacts on the thermo-mechanical properties of PMMA composites and showed, thereby, reasonable potential for use in composites employed in the fabrication of bipolar plates.

Study on the Diameter-Controlled Synthesis of Silver Nanofibers and Their Application to Transparent Conductive Electrodes (은 나노섬유의 직경제어 합성 및 투명전극 응용 연구)

  • One-dimensional (1D) silver nanostructures, which possess the highest conductivity among all room-temperature materials, moderate flexibility and high transmittance, are one of the most promising candidate materials to replace conventional indium tin oxide transparent electrodes. However, the short length and large diameter of 1D silver nanostructures cause a substantial decrease in the optical transparency or an increase in the sheet resistance. In this work, ultra-long silver nanofiber networks were synthesized with a low-cost and scalable electrospinning process, and the diameter of the nanofibers were finetuned to achieve a higher aspect ratio. The decrease in the diameter of the nanofibers resulted in a higher optical transparency at a lower sheet resistance: 87 % at $300{\Omega}/sq$, respectively. It is expected that an electrospun silver nanofiber based transparent electrode can be used as a key component in various optoelectronic applications.

Preparation and Properties of 15R-Sialon by SHS (SHS법에 의한 15R-Sialon의 제조 및 특성)

  • Compacts were prepared using the SHS(Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis) method and nitrided at temperatures range from 145$0^{\circ}C$ to 175$0^{\circ}C$, and pressed at 180$0^{\circ}C$ under N2 atmosphere. The samples were characterized for bulk density, porosity, pore size and distribution, phase composition, microstructure and fracture toughness. Compacts were composed of whiskers, which showed a good candidate for the composite materials. The major phases of the compacts nitrided at 175$0^{\circ}C$ and pressed at 180$0^{\circ}C$ were 15R-sialon with a large aspect ratio.

  • A number of new DTV technologies have been introduced to provide crystal clear picture and enhanced sound. HDTV, in particular has four times resolution of conventional TV along with 16:9 aspect ratio. Also the introduction of the new technologies offered a valuable basis for character graphics which was only an assistant method to deliver visual images effectively. Various sizes of displays for different applications such as high definition TV and mobile multimedia services have created demands for additional features of character graphics including proper letter fonts, colors, moving effects as much. This article analyzes in what way the visual elements above can affect uses' visual perception. New CG formats designed for OSMU, one source multi use, are also suggested available to each media. For the research three groups of CG designers, art directors and productions/distribution groups are established according to production process by two Delphi surveys of TV production staff.

  • 기계적 장치의 도움 없이 오직 사람의 힘으로만 비행을 해야 하는 인간 동력 항공기는 높은 동력 효율 및 최소한의 무게를 지니며 고세장비(High Aspect Ratio)날개 특성을 가지고 있다. 따라서 공력 및 구조적 최적화가 필요하며 고세장비 날개 특성에 따른 대변위 해석이 필요하다. 비행가능한 특정 순항속도에서 3차원 날개에 작용하는 양력에 대해, Edison Solver(Educational program for finite element analysis (CASADSolver))를 이용하여 2차원 spar에 분포하중으로 적용하였을 때의 응력 분포 및 끝단 변위 분석하고자 한다. 또한, 2차원 spar에 일정한 간격으로 집중하중을 작용하였을 때 생기는 변위와 3차원 spar를 이용한 하중해석 결과의 변위를 비교하고자 한다. 위의 두 분석 결과로 비교적 계산자원이 많은 3차원 해석이 아닌 2차원 해석으로 인간 동력 항공기 날개 설계 초기단계에 적용가능한 지에 대해 비교한다.

  • VTR 자기헤드의 핵심소재로 사용되는 ferrite는 VTR 의 주기능인 영상의 기록 및 재생역할에 가장 중요한 소재이다. 이러한 종류의 head는 지금까지 mask wet chemical etching과 mechanical Process 에 의해 제작 되어왔다. 그러나 기록용량의 중가로 자기장치의 recording density를 높일것이 요구됨에 따라 자기헤드의 gap width를 줄일 필요가 있게 되었다. 본 연구는 mask와 photoresist를 사용하지 않고 ferrite를 직접 미세가공 하는 laser-induced wet etching을 이용하여 자기헤드의 기록용량을 높이고자 하였다. $Ar^+$ laser ( 파장 514 nm )를 빔 확장기와 렌즈를 사용 하여 직경 $1.8{\mu}m$ 로 집속하고, $100{\sim}500\;mW$의 출력 변화를 주어 실험을 하였다. 인산 수용액 (45, 65, 85 %)을 etchant로 사용하여 $5{\sim}30{\mu}m/sec$의 주사속도로 etching 하여, 미세선폭과 high aspect ratio를 갖는 groove를 얻을 수 있었다.
