The cost of repairing the deterioration of concrete structures due to corrosion of the reinforcement steel has been the prominent figure in the maintenacne of the reinforced-concrete infrastructures. As an alternative material to steel reinforcement, the use of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) bar in concrete is being actively studied for the high resistance of chemical environment and high strength to weight ratio properties of FRP. However, there remain various aspects of FRP properties that still need to be studied before the standard design criteria can be established. One of the imminent issues is the bond between FRP and concrete. In this study, the bond-behavior of FRP bars in concrete is investigated via the pullout test with three varying parameters: surface condition of FRP bars, concrete compression strength, and cyclic loading patterns. As a result of experiment, the bond strength of GFRP increased with the concrete compression strength increasing and decreased with applying cyclic load.

An objective of this study is to experimentally investigate the strength and ductility of reinforced concrete columns under uniaxial load and several test variables. To do this, we have conducted tests on twelve 20$\times$20$\times$60cm specimens with 8 and 12 longitudinal steel bars subjected to monotonic uniaxial compression. The main variables considered in this test are the configuration of ties, the strength of concrete, The results indicate that the strength and the ductility of reinforced concrete columns have been influenced on the configuration of ties, the strength of concrete.
In this study, high strength concrete corbels reinforced with steel fibers and polypropylene fibers, and subjected to the vertical and horizontal loads were constructed and tested. The results showed that performance in terms of load carrying capacities, stiffness, ductility, crack width, and number of cracks was improved, as the steel fibers and polypropylene fibers were added. The polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete corbels resulted in higher ductility in presence of horizontal loads, but showed larger crack width than the steel fiber reinforced concrete corbels. And, the heads of the headed bars provided excellent end anchorage of the main tension tie reinforcement. Experimental results presented in this paper are also compared with various prediction models proposed by codes and researchers. The refined strut-and-tie model showed more accurate and conservative predictions in presence of horizontal loads, and the truss model proposed by Fattuhi provides fairly good predictions for fiber reinforced concrete corbels.

If the mechanical development is applied to the Nuclear Power Plant Structures instead of the standard hook development, the problem of overcrowding re-bars in the anchorage zone can be solved and the construction quality of the concrete work will be improved. But there are some problems in applying it to the NPP structures because of the restriction on the yield strength and diameter of the re-bar. After the performance evaluation test for the mechanical development, we can develop the new design equation of the mechanical development length in order to solve the limitation and apply it to NPP structures.
The weld quality has always been an important factor affecting the development of exposed CFT column-base joint. In this paper, a new type of exposed RCFST column-base joint is proposed, in which the high strength steel bars (USD 685) are set through the column and reinforced concrete foundation without any base plate and anchor bolts. Three specimens, the varying axial force ratio (0, 0.25 and 0.5), were tested under cyclic loadings. In addition, the bending moment capacity, energy dissipation capacity and deformation capacity of column-base joints were clarified. The experimental results indicated that the axial force ratio increases the stiffness and the bending moment and improves the energy dissipation capacity of column-base joints. This is because a large axial force can limit the slip between steel tubular and infilled concrete effectively. The specimens show stable hysteresis behavior.

The main objective of this research is to examine the behavior of high-strength concrete(HSC) columns. Eight test columns in one-third scale were tested under the conditions of cyclic lateral force and a constant axial load equal to 30% of the column axial load capacity. The $200{\times}200mm$ square columns were reinforced with eight DB bars constituting a longitudinal steel ratio of 2.54% of the column cross-sectional area. The main experimental parameters were volumetric ratio of transverse reinforcement(${\rho}_s$=1.58, 2.25 percent), tie configuration(Type H, Type C, Type D) and tie yield strength($f_{yh}$=548.8 and 779.1 MPa). It was found that the hysteretic behaviour and ultimate deformability of HSC columns were influenced by the amount and details of transverse reinforcement in the potential plastic hinge regions. Columns of transverse reinforcement in the amount 42 percent higher than that required by seismic provisions of ACI 318-02 showed ductile behavior. At 30% of the axial load capacity, it is recommended that the yield strength of transverse reinforcement be held equal to or below 548.8 MPa. Correlations between the calculated damage index and the damage progress are proposed.

This paper presents the structural characteristics of slab-column connections by using nonlinear finite element analysis. FEA considering material non-linearity was performed to investigate average column strain, failure mode, principal stress distribution, and steel yielding conditions for various slab-column members. In addition, to investigate alternative methods for improving the strength of interior column-slab joints, some specimens were provided with different reinforcing types of high-strength concrete puddling, high-strength column longitudinal steels, dowel bars, and high-strength concrete core. To make certain of the reliability of the analytical program, analysis results for concrete material model developed and two specimens with and without puddling were compared with experimental results. It was found that providing the alternative reinforcing methods in the slab-column joint results in a significant improvement in performance. This includes an increase in the axial compressive strength, greater loading stiffness, and ductility.
The flexural behavior test of UHPC segmental box girder which has 160 MPa compressive strength and 15.4 m length was carried out. The effect of steel fibers in combination with reinforcing bars on improving the ductile performance of UHPC box girder was evaluated by comparing the flexural behavior of the UHPC segmental box girders made by the two kinds of mixing portion. The test variables are volume fraction of steel fibers and the arrangement of reinforcing bars. The behavior of UHPC box girder BF2 composed of 1% volume fraction of steel fibers and longitudinal reinforcing bars in web and upper flange with stirrup showed the similar ductile behavior with the girder BF1 composed of 2% volume fraction without stirrup in elastic stress region. But BF1 had the better stiffness and showed the more ductile behavior in inelastic stress region. Segmental interfaces of UHPC box girder have not any crack and slide until the final flexural collapse load.

The demand for lightweight and high-strength materials is increasing. However, studies on the bond of concrete and reinforcing bars for high-strength lightweight concrete with a compressive strength of 120 MPa and a unit weight of 20 kN/m3 to structural members are lacking. Therefore, in this paper, 108 specimens of high-strength lightweight concrete with a compressive strength of 120 MPa and a unit weight of about 20 kN/m3 were fabricated, a direct pull-out test was performed, and the bond characteristics were evaluated by comparing the test results with design code. Compared to the decrease in unit weight, the solid bubble shows relatively little reduction in compressive strength and modulus of elasticity. It was f ound to have larger slip and parameter values than concrete with low compressive strength and unit weight.

This paper presents the pull-out failure mode on Headed Bars and prediction of tensile capacity, as governed by concrete cone failure. 17 different plate types, three different concrete strengths and three different welding types of specimens were simulated. Test variables are the reinforcing bar diameters connected to headed plate (e.g., 16mm, 19mm and 22mm), the head plate shapes (e.g., circular, square, rectangular), the dimensions of head plates (e.g., area and thickness), the types of welding scheme for connection of reinforcing bars and head plates (e.g., general welding and friction welding). Headed Bars were manufactured in different areas, which shape and thickness are based on ASTM 970-98. Calculation of Embedment length in concrete is based on CSA 23.3-94, and static tensile load was applied. Pullout capacities tested were compared to the values determined using current design methods such as ACI-349 and CCD method. If compare experiment results and existings, Headed bar expressed high strength and bigger breakdown radious than standard by wide plate area and anomaly reinforcing rod unlike anchor.
