This paper reports on the study of P2P traffic behaviors in a high-speed campus network under a simple firewall which drops packets with default port numbers for the well-blown P2P applications. Among several ways of detecting P2P traffic, the easiest method is to filter out packets with the default port number of each P2P application. After deploying the port-based firewall against P2P-traffic, it is expected that the amount of P2P traffic will be decreased. However, during the eight-month measurement period, three new commercial P2P applications have been identified and their traffic usages have reached up to $30/5.6\%$ of the total outbound/inbound traffic volumes at the end of the measurement period. In addition, the most famous P2P application, eDonkey, has adapted and has escaped detection through port hopping. The measurement result shows that the amount of eDonkey traffic is around $6.7/4.0\%$ of the total outbound/inbound traffic volume. From the measurement results, it is observed that the port-based firewall is not effective to limit the usage of P2P applications and that the P2P traffic is steadily growing due to not only the evolution of existing P2P applications such as port hopping but also appearances of new P2P applications.

Recently, WBAN(Wireless Body Area Network) which has progressed standardization based on IEEE 802.15.6 standardization is a network for the purpose of the short-range wireless communications within around 3 meters from the inner or outer human body. Effective QoS control technique and data efficient management in limited bandwidth such as audio and video are important elements in terms of users and loads in short-range wireless networks. In this paper, for high-speed WBAN IEEE 802.15.6 standard, the dynamic allocation to give an efficient bandwidth management and weighted fair queueing algorithm have been proposed through the adjustment of the super-frame about limited data and Quality of Service (QoS) based on the queuing algorithm. Weighted Fair Queueing(WFQ) Algorithm represents the robust performance about elements to qualitative aspects as well as maintaining fairness and maximization of system performance. The performance results show that the dynamic allocation expanded transmission bandwidth five times and the weighted fair queueing increased maximum 24.3 % throughput and also resolved delay bound problem.

As accelerates the technical evolution of high-speed network and progresses the digitalization of broadcasting network, TV channel service through satellite/cable/terrestrial networks becomes more stable and mature. However, TV channel service using IP network such as IPTV is recently emerging. Especially, when it comes to current mosaic EPG(Electronic Program Guide) as a channel guide, the implementation of EPG via IP network is under developing. Furthermore, the personal target mosaic EPG is not provided at all in the IPTV. This paper proposes a construction method of mosaic system which can support fixed and personalized mosaic EPG using IP network for viewers. The fixed mosaic EPG is made several steps as follows ; First, H/E generates several mosaic A/V streams. Then, which are transmitted to the STB in terms of multicasting via IP network. Finally, mosaic EPG is displayed on TV through STB. In addition, this paper describes a construction model of the personalized A/V mosaic EPG that represents each person's favorite channels according to their tastes and interests. As for the contributions. The TV channel guide using IP network enable viewer to select channel more easily with practical adaptation of multi-channel expansibility and sufficient usability. In addition, through personal mosaic EPG, a number of viewers can compose their own mosaic EPG and enjoy a variety of channel easily in accordance with their preferences. Finally, the personal mosaic EPG can prohibit non-adult users from connecting adult-only contents more efficiently.

Handover is the technology to minimize data lose of mobile devices and make continuous communication possible even if the device could be moved from one digital cell site to another one. That is, it is a function that enables the mobile user to avoid the disconnection of phone conversations when moving from a specific mobile communication area to another. Today, there are a lot of ongoing researches for fast and efficient hand-over, in order to address phone call's delay and disconnection which are believed to be the mobile network's biggest problems, and these should essentially be resolved in all mobile networks. Thanks to recent technology development in mobile network, the LTE network has been commercialized today and it has finally opened a new era that makes it possible for mobile phones to process data at high speed. In LTE network environment, however, a new authentication key must be generated for the hand-over. In this case, there can be a problem that the authentication process conducted by the hand-over incurs its authentication cost and delay time. This essay suggests an efficient key caching hand-over method which simplifies the authentication process: when UE makes hand-over from oMME to nMME, the oMME keeps the authentication key for a period of time, and if it returns to the previous MME within the key's lifetime, the saved key can be re-used.

In the knowledge-based economy highlighting the importance of human capital, there has been a growing interest in human capital externalities as a fundamental engine of growth and development of a region. The purpose of this study is to analyze human capital externalities using 3-level hierarchical linear model(3-HLM), decomposing determinants of wages into three levels involving workers(level-1) nested within firms(level-2) nested within regions(level-3). This study separately estimates the effect of the average education level on the wages by three different schooling groups on the assumption that the intensity of knowledge spillovers varies with each group's schooling level. The main results are as follows; First, the coefficient of the average education level of a region shows 0.044, indicating that one-year increase in the average level of schooling could increase average individual earnings by 4.4%. Secondly, the external effects of human capital on three different schooling groups are considerably different, raising less than high school graduates' wages by 3.0%, college graduates' wages by 4.7%, and graduate schools' wages by 11.8%, respectively. Thirdly, well educated workers are much more sensitive to the variation of the regional education level than less educated ones when we apply the shares of each schooling group as alternative measures for the average level of education. Such findings of this study draw an implication that local governments could speed up regional economic growth in the knowledge-based economy by not only raising total human capital stock in a region but building the close networks that promote productivity-enhancing human capital external effects.
Recently, the distance education has been rapidly proliferated with the rapid growth of the Internet and high speed networks. There has been relatively much research with regard to online lecture (teaching and studying) tools for the distance education, compared to the virtual laboratory tools (for self-study and experiments). In this paper, we design and implement a web-based simulation tool, named as SimDraw, for the virtual laboratory in the distance education. To apply the web-based simulation technology into the distance education, some requirements should be met; firstly, the user interface of the simulation should be very easy for students. Secondly, the simulation should be very portable to be run on various computer systems of remote students. Finally, the simulation program on remote computers should be very thin so that students can easily install the program onto their computers. To meet these requirements, SimDraw adopts the client/server architecture; the client program contains only model development and animation functions so that no installation of a client program onto student's system is required, and it can be implemented by a Java applet in Web browsers. The server program supports client programs by offering the functions such as remote compiling, model storing, library management, and user management. For the evaluation of SimDraw, we show the simulation process using the example experimentation of the RIP(Routing Information Protocol) Internet routing protocol.

A performance index of singalized intersections is a standard to optimize signal control variables and to manage traffic flow. Traffic delays is generally used to minimize the average delay time on intersections or networks, progression efficiency is used to improve travel speed of main cooridors or to provide transit signal priority. We manage traffic flows with only selecting one index between delays and progression according to the objective of traffic management and field characteristics. In real field, the driver's satisfaction is high in any performance criteria when the waiting time is shorter and the unnecessary stop in front of traffic is smaller. This paper aims to develop simulation model to represent real progression with concurrently considering delays and progression. In order to reflect an effect of level of traffic volumes and residual queues which don't be considered in prior progression model, we apply shockwave model with flow-density diagram. We derive Cell Transmission Model of Daganzo in order to develop the delay index and the progression index for the macroscopic simulation model. In order to validate the effect, we analysis traffic delays and progression efficiency with comparing this model to Transyt-7F and PASSER V.

In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the future battlefield will carry out multi-area operations with hyper-connected, high-speed and mobile systems. In order to prepare for changes in the future, the Korean military intends to develop various weapons systems and form a multi-layer tactical network to support On The Move communication. However, current tactical networks are limited in support of On The Move communications. In other words, the operation of multi-beam antennas is necessary to efficiently construct a multi-layer tactical network in future warfare. Therefore, in this paper, we look at the need for multi-beam antennas through the operational scenario of a multi-layer tactical network. In addition, based on development consideration factors, features of rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft, we present the location and operation of airborne relay drone installations of multi-beam antennas.

Often a network becomes complex, and multiple entities would get in charge of managing part of the whole network. An example is a utility grid. While the entire grid would go under a single utility company's responsibility, the network is often split into multiple subsections. Subsequently, each subsection would be given as the responsibility area to the corresponding sub-organization in the utility company. The issue of how to make subsystems of adequate size and minimum number of interconnections between subsystems becomes more critical, especially in real-time simulations. Because the computation capability limit of a single computation unit, regardless of whether it is a high-speed conventional CPU core or an FPGA computational engine, it comes with a maximum limit that can be completed within a given amount of execution time. The issue becomes worsened in real time simulation, in which the computation needs to be in precise synchronization with the real-world clock. When the subject of the computation allows for a longer execution time, i.e., a larger time step size, a larger portion of the network can be put on a computation unit. This translates into a larger margin of the difference between the worst and the best. In other words, even though the worst (or the largest) computational burden is orders of magnitude larger than the best (or the smallest) computational burden, all the necessary computation can still be completed within the given amount of time. However, the requirement of real-time makes the margin much smaller. In other words, the difference between the worst and the best should be as small as possible in order to ensure the even distribution of the computational load. Besides, data exchange/communication is essential in parallel computation, affecting the overall performance. However, the exchange of data takes time. Therefore, the corresponding consideration needs to be with the computational load distribution among multiple calculation units. If it turns out in a satisfactory way, such distribution will raise the possibility of completing the necessary computation in a given amount of time, which might come down in the level of microsecond order. This paper presents an effective way to split a given electrical network, according to multiple criteria, for the purpose of distributing the entire computational load into a set of even (or close to even) sized computational loads. Based on the proposed system splitting method, heavy computation burdens of large-scale electrical networks can be distributed to multiple calculation units, such as an RTDS real time simulator, achieving either more efficient usage of the calculation units, a reduction of the necessary size of the simulation time step, or both.
Currently, thanks to the major stride made in developing wired and wireless communication technology, a variety of IT services are available on land. This trend is leading to an increasing demand for IT services to vessels on the water as well. And it is expected that the request for various IT services such as two-way digital data transmission, Web, APP, etc. is on the rise to the extent that they are available on land. However, while a high-speed information communication network is easily accessible on land because it is based upon a fixed infrastructure like an AP and a base station, it is not the case on the water. As a result, a radio communication network-based voice communication service is usually used at sea. To solve this problem, an additional frequency for digital data exchange was allocated, and a ship ad-hoc network (SANET) was proposed that can be utilized by using this frequency. Instead of satellite communication that costs a lot in installation and usage, SANET was developed to provide various IT services to ships based on IP in the sea. Connectivity between land base stations and ships is important in the SANET. To have this connection, a ship must be a member of the network with its IP address assigned. This paper proposes a SANET-CC protocol that allows ships to be assigned their own IP address. SANET-CC propagates several non-overlapping IP addresses through the entire network from land base stations to ships in the form of the tree. Ships allocate their own IP addresses through the exchange of simple requests and response messages with land base stations or M-ships that can allocate IP addresses. Therefore, SANET-CC can eliminate the IP collision prevention (Duplicate Address Detection) process and the process of network separation or integration caused by the movement of the ship. Various simulations were performed to verify the applicability of this protocol to SANET. The outcome of such simulations shows us the following. First, using SANET-CC, about 91% of the ships in the network were able to receive IP addresses under any circumstances. It is 6% higher than the existing studies. And it suggests that if variables are adjusted to each port's environment, it may show further improved results. Second, this work shows us that it takes all vessels an average of 10 seconds to receive IP addresses regardless of conditions. It represents a 50% decrease in time compared to the average of 20 seconds in the previous study. Also Besides, taking it into account that when existing studies were on 50 to 200 vessels, this study on 100 to 400 vessels, the efficiency can be much higher. Third, existing studies have not been able to derive optimal values according to variables. This is because it does not have a consistent pattern depending on the variable. This means that optimal variables values cannot be set for each port under diverse environments. This paper, however, shows us that the result values from the variables exhibit a consistent pattern. This is significant in that it can be applied to each port by adjusting the variable values. It was also confirmed that regardless of the number of ships, the IP allocation ratio was the most efficient at about 96 percent if the waiting time after the IP request was 75ms, and that the tree structure could maintain a stable network configuration when the number of IPs was over 30000. Fourth, this study can be used to design a network for supporting intelligent maritime control systems and services offshore, instead of satellite communication. And if LTE-M is set up, it is possible to use it for various intelligent services.
