선박 엔진용 밸브 스핀들 모재에 따른 마찰 용접 후 기계적 특성 변화 (Parent Materials Effect on the Mechanical Property of the Friction Welded Spindle Valve Parts for Marine Engines)

  • The importance of dual-fuel engines has increased for reducing CO2 emissions. However, the low operating temperature of this engine may induce low-temperature corrosion at combustion parts, which reduces the engine service life. To overcome this problem, NiCr38Al4 alloy was developed for valve spindle, but the cost of this alloy is expensive due to its high Cr content. For reducing the manufacturing cost of valve spindle, in the present work, NiCr38Al4 alloy was welded with Nimonic80A alloy by conducting friction welding. The tensile test results show that the strength of friction-welded specimens follows the properties of the lower-strength parent materials, without severe cracks at the interface. The large shear strain and frictional heat from friction welding not only reduce grain size but also induce solute element diffusion at the interfacial region. Because of the low Cr diffusivity compared with Ti, Cr carbides were not observed in the Nimonic80A matrix, while Ti carbides were distributed in both the Nimonic80A and SNCrW matrices.

  • Organo-montmorillonite (OMMT) has attracted much attention for fiber-reinforced polymer composites as a filler material due to high aspect ratio and low charge density. The present study focused on the fabrication of nanocomposites using Vinyl ester and Jute fabric as matrix and reinforcement respectively. The OMMT was uniformly dispersed in vinyl ester resin at 1, 2 and 3 wt%, loading through high speed mechanical stirrer at room temperature and further nanocomposites were manufactured through vacuum assisted resin infusion (VARI) technique. Effects of OMMT on the mechanical properties of vinyl ester/Jute composites were carefully investigated through tensile, bending and Izod impact tests, which revealed significant improvement in mechanical properties. The morphology of the nanocomposites after tensile test was investigated by SEM which affirmed that OMMT filled nanocomposites has improved interactions with the host matrix than the pure composites. Based on the nature and flame retardancy mechanism, the OMMT slightly improved the flammability property which was clearly explained by horizontal burning test.

SA508 class 3 서브머지드 아크용접부의 기계적 성질에 미치는 입열량의 영향 (Effect of Heat Input on the Mechanical Properties of SA508 class 3 Steel Weldments with Submerged Arc Welding)

  • The present study is to investigate the effect of heat input on the microstructure, tensile properties and toughness of single-pass submerged arc bead-in-groove welds produced on SA508 class 3 steels. The heat input was varied in the range of 1.6, 3.2 and 5.0 kJ/mm. The toughness of weld metals was evaluated by using subsize Charpy V-notch specimens in the temperature range of -19$0^{\circ}C$ to 2$0^{\circ}C$. The weld microstructure and fractography were observed by optical and scanning electron microscopies, respectively. With increasing heat inputs, tensile strength and hardness of weld metals were decreased while elongation was increased. The poor notch toughness at 1.6 kJ/mm was attributed to the formation of ferrite with aligned second phase and banitic microstructure with high yield strength while that at 5.0 kJ/mm was due to the presence of grain boundary and polygonal ferrites. The microstructure of the intermediate energy input welds consisted of a high proportion of acicular ferrite with limited polygonal ferrites, which provide improved notch toughness.

  • Magnesium alloys are becoming important material for light weight car body, due to their low specific density but high specific strength. However they have a poor weldability, caused high oxidization tendency and low vapor temperature. In this study, the welding performance of magnesium alloys was investigated for automobile application. The materials were rolled magnesium alloy sheet contains Al and Zn such as AZ3l , AZ6l and AZ9l. Three types of welding process were studied, that were GTAW, Laser beam welding and FSW. To evaluate the weldability, we examined the appearance of welding bead. Also we checked bead shape and internal defects such as crack and porosity on cross section of welding bead. The mechanical property was measured for welded specimen by tensile test. For determination of the strength change by welding process, the hardness profile across the welding center was measured. For the results, the tensile properties of welded specimen were decreased obviously on all welding process. For the fusion welding process such as GTAW and laser beam welding, the surface of the welding bead was covered with oxidized magnesium dust but it was removed by simple cleaning work as wipe-out with tissue. Also under cut, that caused vaporization of base metal was occurred. for the friction stir welding, there was no oxidation, under-cut or internal defects. However it had poor weld performance, the reason was cleavage fracture occurred at plastic deformation zone. For welding of magnesium alloy, the laser beam welding process was recommended.

고강도 열연강판의 기계적 성질과 석출거동에 미치는 권취온도와 합금원소의 영향 (Effect of Coiling Temperature and Alloying Elements on the Mechanical Properties and Precipitation Behavior in High Strength Hot Rolled Steel Sheets)

  • The high strength low alloy(HSLA) steels microalloyed with Nb, Ti and V have been widely used as the automobile parts to decrease weight of vehicles. The effects of process conditions are investigated in the aspects of the precipitation behavior and the mechanical properties of HSLA steel microalloyed with Nb and Ti using TEM, SANS and mechanical testing. When Ti was added to a 0.07C-1.7Mn steel which was coiled at $500^{\circ}C$, the specimen revealed the property of higher tensile strength of 853.1 MPa and the stretch-flangeability of 60%. The stretch-flangeability was increased up to 97.8% for coiling temperature above $700^{\circ}C$. The precipitation hardening cannot be achieved in the 0.045C-1.65Mn steel which was the lower density of fine precipitates. However, the 0.07C-1.7Mn steels containing Nb and/or Ti which was coiled at X$/^{\circ}C$ have a high precipitates density of $2${\times}$10^{ 5}$/$\mu$㎥. The high strength of these steels was attributed to the precipitation hardening caused by a large volume froction of (Ti, Nb)C precipitates with a size below 5 nm in ferrite matrix.

차량 경량화를 위한 사출성형 유리섬유강화플라스틱의 온도 및 수분 흡수에 따른 기계적 물성 변화 (Change of Mechanical Properties of Injection-Molded Glass-Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (GFRP) According to Temperature and Water Absorption for Vehicle Weight Reduction)

  • 최근 차량 경량화를 통한 에너지 절감을 위해서 무거운 철강재료를 경금속이나 복합재료로 대체하는 연구가 많이 진행되고 있다. 이중, 폴리머 기반의 복합재료는 사출성형을 통해서 복잡한 형상의 제작이 가능하고, 유리섬유나 탄소섬유를 함께 사용하여 철강재료 수준으로 기계적 물성을 높일 수 있는 장점이 있다. 하지만 엔진의 고온과 우기에서의 높은 습도 환경은 폴리머의 기계적 물성을 낮추기 때문에 재료선택 과정에서 반드시 고려해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 사출성형을 통해 만들어진 유리섬유강화플라스틱을 엔진룸 내부 온도와 유사한 $85^{\circ}C$ 환경과 우기시의 최대 수분흡수 환경하에서의 기계적 물성변화를 인장시험을 통해 알아보았다. 그 결과, 고온환경에서 최대인장강도가 약 23% 감소를 보였고, 수분에 의해서는 약 30% 감소하였으며, 고온과 수분 모두에 대해서는 약 70% 감소를 확인하였으며 이는 재료 선정시 반드시 고려해야 할 영향으로 판단되었다.

폴리카보실란 전구체로부터 고온 산화성분위기서 기계적물성이 우수한 파이롯-규모의 탄화규소섬유 제조공정 개발 (Development of Pilot-Scale Manufacturing Process of SiC Fiber from Polycarbosilane Precursor with Excellent Mechanical Property at Highly Oxidation Condition and High Temperature)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 고온 산화성 분위기하에서 기계적물성이 우수한 탄화규소섬유(SiC Fiber)를 파일롯-규모로의 생산 제조공정을 개발하는 것이다. 프리세라믹 전구체로서 폴리카보실란(PCS)을 사용하여 탄화규소섬유를 제조하였다. 연속성의 PCS 섬유는 $300{\sim}350^{\circ}C$에서 PCS를 용융한 후에 용융방사로부터 얻었다. 열처리 전에 섬유의 불융화를 위하여 공기 분위기하에서 경화를하였다. 경화 전, 후에 측정한 FT-IR 스펙트라 피크로 부터 경화도를 계산하였다. 탄화규소섬유의 물성은 경화도에 따라 크게 영향을 받았다. 본 개발에서 열처리 중 섬유의 장력 조절로 우수한 물성을 갖는 탄화규소섬유를 얻었다. 탄화규소섬유의 화학조성과 기계적물성은 안정화섬유의 열처리시의 이송속도에 영향을 받았다. 탄화규소섬유를 공기분위기하 $1000^{\circ}C$에서 1분부터 50시간까지 노출한 후에 인장시험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 인장강도는 약 60%까지 감소함을 보여주었다. 장시간 노출시험시 낮은 인장 강도값을 나타내는 섬유는 화학성분 분석시 섬유의 표면에 많은 탄소량을 함유하고 있었다.

In this study, the laser welding performance of magnesium alloys was investigated for automobile application. The materials were rolled magnesium alloy sheet contains 3%Al and 1%Zn. To evaluate the weldability, we examined the appearance of welding bead. The mechanical property was measured for welded specimen by tensile test. And formability was checked with the Erichsen tester. For the results, the performance of weld in laser welding was enough for press forming such as car body. But it was recommended to use filler wire for reduce the under fill.

EMNC_60과 EMNC_65에 대한 열적, 기계적, 전기적 특성 연구 (Thermal, Mechanical, and Electrical Properties for EMNC_60 and EMNC_65)

  • In order to application for high voltage heavy electric equipments, epoxy/microsilica 60 wt%/nano layered silicate composites (EMNC_60) and epoxy/microsilica 65 wt%/nano layered silicate composites (EMNC_65) respectively was synthesized by our electric field dispersion method and the result was obtained completely dispersion state. Thermal properties such as glass transition temperature (Tg) and thermal expansion coefficient, and DMA characteristics were studied, and mechanical properties such as tensile and flexural tests were performed. AC electrical insulation strength was also tested. The study on thermal property, EMNC_65 was better than EMNC_60 and mechanical, electrical properties much improved EMNC_60 compared with EMNC_65.

사출성형 열가소성 폴리우레탄의 물리적 성질에 미치는 금형 온도 영향 (Effects of Mold Temperatures on Physical Properites of Injection Molded Thermoplastic Polyurethanes)

  • 경도를 달리하는 에스테르계 및 에테르계 열가소성 폴리우레탄(thermoplastic polyurethane: TPU)의 사출에서 금형 온도가 물리적 성질에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. TPU의 연질부 유리전이온도는 금형 온도 변화에 따라 거의 변화하지 않았으며, 연질부와 경질부의 상분리는 금형온도의 영향을 별로 받지 않는 것으로 판단되었다. 그러나 에스테르계와 에테르계 TPU는 종류에 관계없이 공통적으로 경도가 높은 TPU들은 금형온도를 높이는 경우 결정성, 고무상 평탄 온도영역, 인장강도가 감소하였으나, 경도가 낮은 TPU들은 오히려 결정성, 고무상 평탄 온도영역, 인장강도의 증가를 보였다. TPU의 사출 성형 금형 온도에 따른 물리적 성질의 차이를 결정성 경질부의 결정화와 물리적 가교효과 차이로 해석하였다.
