This paper is focused on the analysis of the noise and vibration measured near the wheelset of the high-speed trains using a time-varying frequency transform as a preliminary research of running monitoring. Due to the non-stationary characteristics, it is necessary to examine noise and vibration of the train with time-varying frequency transforms. In this paper, the short-time Fourier transform method is utilized - the stored data is localized by modulating with a window function, and Fourier transform is taken to each localized data. For the examination, the non-stationary noise and vibration of the high-speed train's wheelset are measured by using some microphones and accelerometers, and those signals are stored in a on-board data acquisition system. The non-stationary random signal analyses with the short-time Fourier transform are performed, and the result are classified as follows; auto-spectral density, cross-spectral density, frequency response, and coherence functions. From those functions, it is possible to observe the frequency characteristics of sleepers, switchers, tunnels, and steel bridges. Also, some distinct peaks, which are not dependent upon the train's speed, are identified from the results.
This study is about predicting the interior pressure level of the korean high speed train using ray acoustic method. The motor car and the motor and passenger cabin are investigated under the environment of passing open countryside and inside tunnel of 350 km/hr. Calculated sound levels are compared with the proposed sound levels and suggestions about the transmission Joss values of isolating panels inside motor car and the guide lines of allowed sound power limit of motor equipments are provided. Results of TPI car show calculated interior sound level is below the proposed values for both cases of open countryside running and inside tunnel. Since ray acoustic method calculated only air borne noise component, real sound level of the motor car may be higher than prediction. Passenger cabins of TMI, TM5 show higher sound level than the proposed values, so window method was carried out to find the contribution of each panel components and point out the remedy of transmission path. Reduction of sound power of motor equipments should be condisered at the same time.
This study was carried out about the design and FEM analysis of articulated Trailer car with aluminum bodyshell for Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350㎞/h. The integral design by extra-long extruded sections made possible through the use of aluminium alloys and continuous window shape with skin were adopted in the design of aluminium bodyshell. Articulated structures in each trailer's end were bolted laterally on end structure. FEM analysis showed that the design satisfied the specified load criteria. This study describes process and result of development of aluminum trailer bodyshell for KHST.

The weight reduction of carbody stl1lctures is of great concern in developing high speed tilting train for the normal operation of tilting system. The use of composite materials for the carbody structures has many advantages due to their excellent material propel1ies. In this paper, finite element analysis was conducted to verify the safety of the composite structures of Tilting Train eXpress(TTX). A train prototype with carbon/epoxy composite carbody was manufactured to perform static loading tests according to JIS E 7105. The loading tests were simulated by FE analysis to compare with the test results. To obtain more accurate and detailed result of stress distribution in local region of carbody, the submodeling approach was used. The submodeling analysis results showed the high levels of stress concentration occured on window frame part of TTX as the loading test results did.
Crack and its damage of structure concrete in both FBS and TBS ballastless track are presented. The cause of concrete crack is analyzed. According to corresponding quantitative equation, effective technical measures to depression crack of concrete are put forward, at the same time the rationality of elastic ratio for HGT has been proved. At last, by the analysis of the characteristic of high-speed train, which are serving in the open air, bearing fatigue load, the short time for maintenance window and high speed of service, technical requirement for concrete repair material, repair technology and repair tools of ballastless track structure are presented.

The primary cause of air pollution by vehicles is imperfect combustion of fuel. One of the most usual causes of this imperfect combustion is the misfire in IC(Intenal Combustion) engine. Recently it is obligated for an ECU to monitor the emission level and warn the driver in case of exceeding specified emission standards. Therefore, in order to comply with this OBD-II regulations, car makers are investing a considerable amount into technology which would enable the detection of misfire and the particular cylinder in which misfire is taking place. So far, it has been able to detect misfire using engine speed, which can be obtained crank angle. However, such a method posed a problem in analyzing at high speed and in recognizing the misfire from the load impact at bumpy road. In this paper, misfire detection is made possible by simple arithmetic using WDFT, especially at high engine speed. In addition, the moving window method of a Walsh function is applied to determine the cylinders under misfire in case of multiple misfires. An actual experiment was conducted to prove that WDFT is applicable to effective in computation speed and to same result in misfire detection and cylinder determination at idle, part load and bumpy road conditions.
This study was carried about the basic design and FEM analysis of aluminium carbody for articulated trailer of Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350㎞/h. The integral design by extra-long extruded sections made possible through the use of aluminium alleys and continuous window shape with skin were adopted in the basic design of aluminium carbody. Articulated structures in each trailer's end were welded laterally on both sides of gangway. FEM analysis showed that the design satisfied the specified load criteria. Futher study should be carried out for optimal design which enables the weight of carbody structure to reduce adequately.

KITECH and ODS performed a study of internal and external noise prediction of the Korean high speed prototype test train(HSR 350X). The object of this study was 3 kinds of cars, trailer car(TT2), motorized car(TMI ) and power car(TPI) and the predicted noise was for the two different driving speeds in free field and tunnel conditions. Data of carbody design and noise sources were delivered from manufactures. Some of noise sources which were not available in the project team, were chosen by experiences of ODS. Internal noise level of each car was predicted for two cases i.e, at 300 km/h and 350 km/h. In addition sound transmission path and dominant noise sources were also investigated for each section of the car, which is circular shell typed part of whole carbody. In case of TT2, the dominating sound transmission path is the (floor in terms of structure-borne noise and air-borne noise. The main noise sources are structure-borne noise from the yaw-damper and air-borne noise from the wheel/rail contact, whereas the dominating sound transmission path of TMI are floor and sidewall below the window in terms of structure-borne noise. The main noise sources of TMI are structure-borne noise from motor/gear unit and the yaw-damper in the free field, and air-borne noise from the wheel/rail contact and structure-borne noise from motor/gear unit in the tunnel. Through the external noise prediction for the KHST test train formation, the noise form the wheel/rail contact is estimated as one of the major sources. In addition, the noise specification of sub-component was proposed for managing each sub-surpplier to reach the KHST noise requirement. The specification provide the sound power of machinery part and transmission loss of component of carbody structure. The predicted noise level in each case exceeded the required limit. Through this study, the noise characteristics of the test train were investigated by simulation, and then the actual test will be performed in near future. Both measured and calculated data will be compared and further work for noise reduction will be continued.

Recently, the spread of smart TV based Android iOS Set Top box has become common. This paper propose a new approach to control the TV using gestures away from the era of controlling the TV using remote control. In this paper, the AdaBoost algorithm is applied to gesture recognition by using a mono camera. First, we use Camshift-based Body tracking and estimation algorithm based on Gaussian background removal for body coordinate extraction. Using global and local feature vectors, we recognized gestures with speed change. By tracking the time interval trajectories of hand and wrist, the AdaBoost algorithm with CART algorithm is used to train and classify gestures. The principal component feature vector with high classification success rate is searched using CART algorithm. As a result, 24 optimal feature vectors were found, which showed lower error rate (3.73%) and higher accuracy rate (95.17%) than the existing algorithm.
