  • This paper proposes and analyzes a scalable and an efficient cluster based group key management protocol by introducing identity based infrastructure for secure communication in mobile wireless sensor networks. To ensure scalability and dynamic re-configurability, the system employs a cluster based approach by which group members are separated into clusters and the leaders of clusters securely communicate with each other to agree on a group key in response to changes in membership and member movements. Through analysis we have demonstrated that our protocol has a high probability of being resilient for secure communication among mobile nodes. Finally, it is established that the proposed scheme is efficient for secure positioning in wireless sensor networks.

  • High-volume web sites often use clusters of servers with load balancing as a way to increase the performance, scalability, and availability of the sites. Load balancing, usually performed by load balancer in front of such clusters, is a technique to spread workload between several computers or resources, in order to get optimal resource utilization or response time. In this paper we examine the performance for several configurations of cluster-based web servers using a simulation approach. We investigate two types of buffering scheme (common and local) for web clusters and three load balancing policies (uniformly random, round robin, and least queue first), using response time as a performance measure. We also examine two basic approaches of scaling web clusters: adding more servers of same type or upgrading the capacity of the servers in the clusters.

  • Location information of individual nodes is useful for routing and some other functions in wireless sensor networks. Each node can use GPS to know its position. However, the GPS service can not be practical to use due to cost efficiency, power, and computing capability. This paper proposes the localization method to make nodes know their location in case of a few nodes knows their position information. The proposed method is named as VALT (Virtual Anchor based Localization using Triangulation method). It uses the virtual anchor concept and calculates the location of individual nodes by means of the triangulation method. This method helps all nodes to determine their position with low cost and high scalability.

  • The performance of a computer system depends on the system architecture and workload, and the high performance required in many applications can be achieved by the scalability of the system architecture and workload. This paper presents scalable workload, a performance metric of scalable speedup and hierarchical modeling for the scalable computer system as well as the development of the object-oriented simulator spmplC++ Which is an advanced C++ version of the discrete event-driven simulation environment smplE. In addition, this paper presents two examples of applying scalable speedup, hierarchical modeling and simulator smplC++ to analyze the performance effect of the sclcbility in a multiprocessor system and a network-based client/server system.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust music audio fingerprinting system for automatic music retrieval. The fingerprint feature is extracted from the long-term dynamic modulation spectrum (LDMS) estimation in the perceptual compressed domain. The major advantage of this feature is its significant robustness against severe background noise from the street and cars. Further the fast searching is performed by looking up hash table with 32-bit hash values. The hash value bits are quantized from the logarithmic scale modulation frequency coefficients. Experiments illustrate that the LDMS fingerprint has advantages of high scalability, robustness and small fingerprint size. Moreover, the performance is improved remarkably under the severe recording-noise conditions compared with other power spectrum-based robust fingerprints.

  • This paper proposes a fast enhancement layer coding method to reduce computational complexity for Scalable HEVC (SHVC) which is based on High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). The proposed method decreases encoding time by simplifying Rate Distortion Optimization (RDO)for enhancement layers (EL). The simplification is achieved by restricting CU depths based on the correlation of coding unit (CU) depths between adjacent layers and scalability (spatial or quality) of EL. Comparing with the performance of SHM 1.0 software encoder, the proposed method reduces the encoding time by up to 31.5%.

  • Storage services integration can be done for achieving high availability, improving data access performance and scalability while preventing vendor lock-in. However, multiple services environment management and interoperability have become a critical issue as a result of service architectures and communication interfaces heterogeneity. Storage federation model provides the integration of multiple heterogeneous and self-sufficient storage systems with a single control point and automated decision making about data distribution. In order to integrate diverse heterogeneous storage services into a single storage pool, we are proposing a storage service federation framework named BoxBroker. Moreover, an automated decision model based on a policy-driven data distribution algorithm and a service evaluation method is proposed enabling BoxBroker to make optimal decisions. Finally, a demonstration of our proposal capabilities is presented and discussed.

  • When replacing hardware due to obsolescence, discontinuation, and expansion of software-equipped electronic equipment, software changes are required in the past, but if virtualization technology is applied, it can be applied without software changes. In this regard, we studied in order to apply virtualization technology in the development of naval multi-function radar signal processing, we studied hardware and OS independency for Docker and performance comparison between Docker and virtual machine. As a result, it was confirmed that hardware and OS independence exist when using Docker and that high-speed processing is possible compared to the virtual machine.

  • The inkjet printing technology has undergone remarkable development since the concept of printed electronics was first introduced. The large interest which it has sparkled is due to its many enticing features such as processing simplicity, low cost and scalability as well as its compatibility with flexible electronics. Thanks to constant improvements, inkjet printing has nowadays become a mature technology which is an effective replacement for a number of intricate and expensive conventional laboratory tools and is also on the verge of gaining industrial significance. Technological challenges which still remain open include low temperature processing, high density integration and reproducibility. This paper reviews some recent advances in the inkjet printing technology, addressing those issues. And we also discuss a number of novel approaches to performing inkjet printing.
