  • Digital aerial images have been commonly used in a large scale map production owing to their excellent geometry, and high spatial and radiometric resolution in recent years. However, a quality verification process for acquired images should be preceded in order to secure the high precision and reliability of produced results. Several experimental studies to verify digital imaging systems have been vigorously researched by constructing permanent test field in abroad. On the other hand, it is urgently necessary to suggest a practical scheme for an image quality verification, because this related study and experiment are still in its early stage at home. Hence, this study aims to present an easy method to measure the spatial resolution of the image in a visual way using a portable Siemens star. The images used in the study were obtained with three different cameras, two frame array sensors of DMC, UltraCamXp and a linear array sensor of ADS80. The Siemens star target appeared in every image is extracted and then the spatial resolution of image is compared with theoretical GSD(Ground Sample Distance) by a visual method. In addition, the change of spatial resolution depending on the location of the Siemens star from image center and flight direction and cross-flight direction is also compared and analyzed. As study results, while the theoretical GSDs of images taken with each camera are about 6~9cm, the visual resolutions are 1.2~1.3 times as great as the theoretical ones.

  • The purpose of the study was to present basic data to evaluation of the spatial resolution for exposure class(EC) in computed radiography(CR) by using the modulation transfer function(MTF). In this study, MTF was measured the edge method by using image plate(IP) of $100{\mu}mm$ pixels. A standard beam quality RQA5 based on an international electro-technical commission(IEC) standard was used to perform the X-ray imaging studies. Digital imaging began to set the sensitivity to EC 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1200 in X-ray irradiated to IP. The MTF 50% and 10% in the final images was analysis by using an authorized image analysis program the Origin 8.0 and the image J. As a results, the EC 200 was the best spatial resolution at MTF 50% ($1.979{\pm}0.114lp/mm$) and MTF 10% ($3.932{\pm}0.041$). Therefore, the EC 200 could be useful for the diagnosis of diseases that require high spatial resolution such as fractures.

  • In the active SONAR system, various studies have been carried out to enhance the resolution of a received signal. In order to obtain higher resolution for detecting a bottoming cylindrical object, the design of a planar array for SONAR is investigated in this paper. It is necessary to employ planar structures for SONAR array to obtain narrower beam pattern which gives high resolution. In this study, the transmit frequency of each acoustic transducer, which consists of an array is 13 kHz. For efficient detection of a target of an asymmetric size, the concept of areal angle is applied, which considers resolution according to both azimuth and elevation angles in array design. In the design, the areal angle is first investigated to satisfy the resolution requirements, and then based on the value of areal angles, the azimuth angle and the elevation angle are calculated respectively to design an array.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the variables which had effects on the organizational communication satisfaction(OCS) based on the relationship between organizational members' personality types and conflict resolution styles. A questionnaire survey including social style profile and OCS scale was carried out with the various organizational members. The results showed that there were significant differences on the ways to resolve the conflicts according to personality types. The members who tended to assert their opinions with confidence had a high level of OCS. The results of path analysis on the variables influencing the OCS revealed that among the conflict resolution styles, the problem solving style and compromise style were associated with the OCS-social relationship. In contrast, the blaming style and imposing style were related with the degree of OCS-task. The members' individualistic variables such as organizational status and sex were important factors in explaining the differences of conflict resolution styles and the OCS. In conclusion, this study showed that the matching of conflict resolution styles with the members' task characteristics is a crucial factor in the production of effective organizational outcomes. The limitations of this study were reported along with the suggestions for the future studies.

  • The use of acoustics to measure the concentration profile of suspended sediment become increasing common. Field studies have shown the usefulness of remotely measuring the suspended sediment concentration with high spatial and temporal resolution. Techniques that allow for the conversion of the backscattered acoustic intensity into suspended sediment concentration have been developed concurrent with instrumentation. (omitted)

  • Stable isotope enrichment in proteins is necessary for high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments. Although methods for 13C, 15N and 2H-enrichment in prokaryotic cells are well established, full processing and correct folding of complex protein systems require higher organisms as the expression host. In the present study, we review recent efforts to enrich stable isotopes in mammalian cells for protein NMR studies.

  • Electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction have together played a key role in our understanding of the molecular structure and mechanism of contraction of muscle. This review highlights the role of electron microscopy, from early insights into thick and thin filament structure by negative staining, to studies of single myosin molecule structure, and finally to recent high-resolution structures by cryo-electron microscopy. Muscle filaments are designed for movement. Their labile structures thus present challenges to obtaining near-atomic detail, which are also discussed.

  • High-resolution imaging of electrical conductivity has been the subject of many studies in crosshole tomography using electromagnetic (EM) fields (Zhou et al., 1993; Wilt et al., 1995; Alumbaugh and Morrison, 1995; Newman, 1995; Alumbaugh and Newman, 1997). Although the theoretical understanding and associated field practices for crosshole EM methods are relatively mature, fast and stable imaging of crosshole EM data is still a challenging problem.
