A Mini Review of Recent Advances in Optical Pressure Sensor

  • Innovative and advanced technologies, including robots, augmented reality, virtual reality, the Internet of Things, and wearable medical equipment, have largely emerged as a result of the rapid evolution of modern society. For these applications, pressure monitoring is essential and pressure sensors have attracted considerable interest. To improve the sensor performance, several new designs of pressure sensors have been researched based on resistive, capacitive, piezoelectric, optical, and triboelectric types. In particular, optical pressure sensors have been actively studied owing to their advantages, such as robustness to noise and remote sensing capability. Herein, a review of recent research on optical pressure sensors with self-powered sensing, remote sensing, high spatial resolution, and multimodal sensing capabilities is presented from the viewpoints of design, fabrication, and signal processing.

분사 조건이 다공형 GDI 인젝터의 분무 거동에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Injection Conditions on the Spray Behaviors of the Multi-hole GDI Injector)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the overall spray behavior characteristics for various injection conditions in a gasoline direct injection(GDI) injector with multi-hole. The spray characteristics, such as the spray penetration, the spray angle, and the injection quantity, were studied through the change of the injection pressure, the ambient pressure, and the energizing duration in a high-pressure chamber with a constant volume. The n-heptane with 99.5% purity was used as the test fuel. In a constant volume chamber, the injected spray was visualized by the spray visualization system, which consisted of the high-speed camera, the metal-halide lamp, the injector control device, and the image analysis system with the image processing program. It was revealed that the injection quantity was mainly affected by the difference between the injection pressure and the ambient pressure. For low injection pressure conditions, the injection quantity was decreased by the increase of the ambient pressure, while it nearly maintained regardless of the ambient pressure at high injection pressure. According to the increase of the ambient pressure in the constant volume chamber, the spray development became slow, consequently, the spray tip penetration decreased, and the spray area increased. In additions, the circular cone area decreased, and the vortex area increased.

Experimental Investigations on Upper Part Load Vortex Rope Pressure Fluctuations in Francis Turbine Draft Tube

  • The swirling flow developing in Francis turbine draft tube under part load operation leads to pressure fluctuations usually in the range of 0.2 to 0.4 times the runner rotational frequency resulting from the so-called vortex breakdown. For low cavitation number, the flow features a cavitation vortex rope animated with precession motion. Under given conditions, these pressure fluctuations may lead to undesirable pressure fluctuations in the entire hydraulic system and also produce active power oscillations. For the upper part load range, between 0.7 and 0.85 times the best efficiency discharge, pressure fluctuations may appear in a higher frequency range of 2 to 4 times the runner rotational speed and feature modulations with vortex rope precession. It has been pointed out that for this particular operating point, the vortex rope features elliptical cross section and is animated of a self-rotation. This paper presents an experimental investigation focusing on this peculiar phenomenon, defined as the upper part load vortex rope. The experimental investigation is carried out on a high specific speed Francis turbine scale model installed on a test rig of the EPFL Laboratory for Hydraulic Machines. The selected operating point corresponds to a discharge of 0.83 times the best efficiency discharge. Observations of the cavitation vortex carried out with high speed camera have been recorded and synchronized with pressure fluctuations measurements at the draft tube cone. First, the vortex rope self rotation frequency is evidenced and the related frequency is deduced. Then, the influence of the sigma cavitation number on vortex rope shape and pressure fluctuations is presented. The waterfall diagram of the pressure fluctuations evidences resonance effects with the hydraulic circuit. The influence of outlet bubble cavitation and air injection is also investigated for low cavitation number. The time evolution of the vortex rope volume is compared with pressure fluctuations time evolution using image processing. Finally, the influence of the Froude number on the vortex rope shape and the associated pressure fluctuations is analyzed by varying the rotational speed.

UV 레이저 응용 반도체 기판용 임베디드 회로 패턴 가공 (Fabrication of embedded circuit patterns for Ie substrates using UV laser)

  • Semiconductor industry demands decrease in line/space dimensions of IC substrates. Particularly for IC substrates for CPU, line/space dimensions below $10{\mu}m/10{\mu}m$ are expected to be used in production since 2014. Conventional production technologies (SAP, etc.) based on photolithography are widely agreed to be reaching capability limits. To address this limitation, the embedded circuit fabrication technology using laser ablation has been recently developed. In this paper, we used a nanosecond UV laser and a picosecond UV laser to fabricate embedded circuit patterns into a buildup film with $SiO_2$ powders for IC substrate. We conducted SEM and EDS analysis to investigate surface quality of the embedded circuit patterns. Experimental results showed that due to higher recoil pressure, picosecond UV laser ablation of the buildup film generated a better surface roughness.

구멍갈파래의 고압 균질 전처리 공정을 통한 바이오에탄올 생산용 당화수율 증진 (Enhancement of Saccharification Yield of Ulva pertusa Kjellman by High Pressure Homogenization Process for Bioethanol Production)

  • This study was investigated to improve the saccharification yield of Ulva pertusa Kjellman by the high pressure homogenization process. It was found that the high pressure homogenization pretreatment effectively destructed the cell wall structures only by using water. The high pressure homogenization process was operated under various conditions such as 10000, 20000 or 30000 psi with different recycling numbers. The optimal condition was determined as 30000 psi and 2 pass of recycling numbers and the sugar conversion yields were 16.02 (%, w/w) of glucose and 14.70 (%,w/w) of xylose, respectively. In the case of enzymatic treating the hydrolyzates with 5 FPU/glucan of celullase and 100 units/mL of amyloglucosidase, 65.8% of carbohydrates was converted into glucose. Using the hydrolysates of Ulva pertusa Kjellman, 48.7% of ethanol was obtained in the culture S.cerevisiae. These results showed that the high pressure homogenization process could efficiently hydrolyze the marine resource by using only water for bioethanol production.

균질 처리가 막걸리 고형분의 현탁 안정성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Homogenization on Suspension Stability of Makgeolli)

  • The effect of homogenization treatment on the suspension stability of makgeolli was evaluated. The non-soluble solids of makgeolli that were not homogenized were precipitated at 1.0-68 mm after 10 minutes of standing and 2.0-70.5 mm after 30 minutes of standing. On the other hand, in the makgeolli homogenized with a blender for more than 20 seconds, no precipitated non-soluble solids were observed during the initial 10 minutes, and when it was left still for 30 minutes, it showed precipitation of 2.0 mm (control 58.0 mm). The makgeolli treated with a high-pressure homogenizer did not show any sedimentation until 30 minutes of standing. In the sensory evaluation, the high-pressure homogenized makgeolli had a score of 3.93, whereas non-treated had a score of 2.80, which was improved by 40% by homogenization.

고압처리 원유로 제조한 발효유의 저장 중 유산균 수 변화와 이화학적 특성 (Changes in Lactic Acid Bacteria and Physicochemical Properties of Yogurt Made with High Pressure Processing Treated Milk)

  • 본 연구에서는 고압처리(high pressure processing) 한 원유를 이용하여 발효유를 제조하고, 발효특성 및 저장 기간 물리 화학적 특성의 변화를 살펴보았다. 고압처리 한 원유를 이용하여 발효유 제조 시 발효 초반에 유산균이 급격히 증식 됨을 확인하였으나, 발효 완료 후 총 유산균 수는 대조군과 크게 차이가 나지 않았다. 저장 기간 중 실험군과 대조군 모두 유산균 수가 서서히 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 또한 산도 및 pH는 각 군 모두 정상적인 발효유의 범위를 나타내었다. 각 군의 점도를 대조해 본 결과 대조군이 실험군보다 점도가 높게 나타났으나, syneresis는 450 MPa 처리군이 대조군보다 유의적으로 적게 발생한 것으로 나타났다(P<0.05). 따라서 적절한 압력을 이용한 원유의 고압처리는 발효유의 물성을 개선하는 데 효과가 있다고 할 수 있으며, 이 분야에 관한 연구가 좀 더 이루어져야 할 필요가 있다.

초고압처리가 생막걸리의 저장기간 연장에 미치는 영향 (Effect of High Hydrostatic Pressure Treatment on Extension of Shelf Life of Draft Makgeolli)

  • 생막걸리의 유통기간은 연장하고자 UV조사와 초고압처리를 하였다. UV조사는 막걸리내 미생물을 감소시키지 못하였으나 초고압처리는 급격하게 감소시켰다. 막걸리의 생균수는 2.2-5.8 × 107 CFU/mL이었으나 300MPa로 1분간 처리하였을 때 1.4-10 × 103 CFU/mL로 감소하였고 400MPa 처리에 의해서는 4-68 CFU/mL, 500MPa 처리에 의해서는 40CFU/mL이하로 감소하였다. 효모는 400MPa 압력에서 사멸하였고 Bacillus amyloliquefaciens와 Rummeliibacillus stabekisii 500MPa 압력에서도 생존하였다. 400과 500MPa의 압력으로 처리한 막걸리는 상온(25℃)에서 30일간 저장하여도 균체수가 증가하지 않았고 알코올, 산도, 아미노산도의 변화도 억제되었다. 그러나 30일 이상 상온에서 저장하면 막걸리의 산도와 아미노산도가 증가하면서 음용이 어려웠다. 저온(4℃)저장에서는 저장 70일까지 막걸리의 품질변화를 억제시켜 신선한 막걸리와 유사한 맛을 가지고 있었다.

Physiological Responses of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Spores to High Pressure

  • Pressure inactivation behavior of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens spores was investigated in deionized water. The spores of B. amyloliquefaciens were subjected to $105^{\circ}C$ and 700 MPa. The magnitude of the decrease in viability after pressure treatment was similar to that after pressure treatment followed by heat shock. The increase of dipicolinic acid (DPA) release was correlated with the spore inactivation, and the hydrophobicity did not significantly change during the pressure-assisted thermal processing (PATP). Lag phase duration increased with increasing pressure process time. The mechanisms of spore germination and inactivation during the PATP were related to a complex physiological process.

로켓 산화제 과잉 예연소기용 분사기의 고압 분무특성 연구 (Spray Characteristics of the Oxidizer-rich Preburner Injector in High Pressure Environments)

  • 액체로켓 예연소기의 산화제 과잉 연소는 매우 어려운 과업이다. 이를 위해서는 작동 조건에서 좋은 혼합특성을 갖는 분사기를 설계하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다. 따라서 고압환경에서 로켓 산화제 과잉 예연소기용 분사기의 분무특성을 실험을 통해 알아보았다. 분사기는 연료 및 산화제 오리피스, 산화제 스커트로 구성되어있다. 분사기의 분무특성을 알아보기 위해 주위기체압력을 0에서 30kgg/cm2[g]까지 가압하여 분무 가시화, Sauter 평균 입경을 측정하였으며, 액적 크기는 이미지 처리 기법을 이용하였다. 실험결과로부터 로켓 산화제 과잉 예연소기용 분사기의 분무특성을 이해할 수 있었으며, 로켓 산화제 과잉 예연소기 개발에 중요한 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
