마이크로 채널을 이용한 탄화수소 연료개질에 관한 연구 (Study on hydrocarbon reforming using microchannel catalysts)

  • Currently, many structured catalysts using microchannel are researched to apply to fuel reforming. In this paper, ceramic monolith and metal mesh as structured catalysts are investigated for catalytic autothermal reforming. When GHSV increases, each structured catalyst has better performances(hydrogen production, fuel conversion) than packed bed catalyst for autothermal reforming. The major causes seem to be the elevated heat and mass transfer, gas phase reaction and redistribution of packed bed due to high pressure drop.

석탄 합성가스로부터 효율적인 생물학적 수소 생산에 관한 연구

  • 본 연구에서는 R rubrum을 이용한 석탄합성 가스로부터 수소 생산공정에 있어서의 세포성장 및 일산화탄소 전환을 최적화하 는 여러 조건들을 조사하였다. 그 중 pH의 영향을 살펴보면 R. rubrum 세포성장에는 pH 6~7이 최적이었고 수소생산에는 pH 7 7-7.5이 최적이었으며 pH가 5.5에서는 세포성장이거의 이루어 지지 않았다. 또한 온도가 34 'C 이상 증가되었을 때 세포성장이 둔화되어 멈추고 안정적인 co 전환속도를 얻을 수 없으므로 $30^{\circ}C$가 R. rubrum 균주 성장과 co 전환에 최적온도라 생각된다. 또한 R. rubrum은 photosynthetic bacteria인데 이 세포의 성장에 는 벚의 세기가 1,700-2,400 Lux가 최적임을 알 수 있었고 co 전환에는 계속적인 빛의 공급이 꼭 필요하지는 않고 간헐적인 빛의 노출만으로도 충분하다고 생각된다. 또한 연속반응기를 이 용하여 600 rpm, $30^{\circ}C$, pH 7에서 합성가스 체류시간 110분시 co 전환율 약 53%정도를 얻을 수 있었다. 이 연구가 계속 진 행되어져서 photobioreactor의 개발, high pressure bioreactor의 이 용, 균주의 mutatIOn 및 전환능력 우수 균주 등의 selection을 수 행한다면 매우 높은 합성가스 전환율을 갖는 생물반응기 공정개 발도 가능하리라 생각된다.

  • Metal hydride based hydrogen storage under moderate temperature and pressure gives the safety advantage over the gas and liquid storage methods. Still solid-state hydrogen storage including metal hydride is below the DOE target level for automotive applications, but it can be adapted to stationary or miliary application reasonably. In order to develop a modular solid state hydrogen storage system that can be applied to a distributed power supply system composed of renewable energy - water electrolysis - fuel cell, the heat transfer and hydrogen storage characteristics of the metal hydride necessary for the module system design were investigated using AB5 type metal hydride, LCN2 ($La_{0.9}Ce_{0.1}Ni_5$). The planetary high energy mill (PHEM) treatment of LCN2 confirmed the initial hydrogen storage activation and hydrogen storage capacity through surface modification of LCN2 material. Expanded natural graphite (ENG) addition to LCN2, and compression molding at 500 atm improved the thermal conductivity of the solid hydrogen storage material.

Cu-Zn 황동에서 수소가 탈아연 부식에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Hydrogen on Dezincification of Cu-Zn Brass)

  • The aim of this study is to consider the effect hydrogen on dezincification behavior of Cu-Zn alloys. The investigations include microstructural observations with scanning electron microscope and chemical composition analysis with energy dispersive spectrometer. The dezincification layer was found to occur in high pressure hydrogen atmosphere, not in air atmosphere. In addition, the layers penetrated into the inner side along the grain boundaries in the case of hydrogen condition. The shape of the dezincification layers was porous because of Zn dissolution from the ${\alpha}$ or ${\beta}$ phase. In the case of stress corrosion cracks formed in the Cu-Zn microstructure, the dezincification phenomenon with porous voids was also accompanied by grain boundary cracking.

고정층 반응기에서 K-계열 흡수제의 압력에 따른 HCl 흡수 거동 연구 (Effect of Pressure on HCl Absorption Behaviors of a K-based Absorbent in the Fixed Bed Reactor)

  • 본 연구에서는 고정층 반응기(높이 15 cm, 내경 0.5 cm)에서 K-계열 건식 흡수제($K_2CO_3/Al_2O_3$, 한국전력공사 전력연구원)를 이용하여 반응압력 변화에 따른 염화수소 흡수 실험을 수행하였다. 반응온도는 가스화 직후, 필터를 거쳐서 주입되는 것을 가정하여 $400^{\circ}C$로 설정하였으며, 반응기체 농도는 750 ppm HCl ($N_2$ balance)으로 설정하였다. 반응압력은 1, 5, 10, 15, 20 bar로 증가시켰다. 압력이 증가할수록 K-계열 흡수제의 흡수 성능이 증가하였다. 흡수제를 구성하고 있는 주요 물질인 $K_2CO_3$가 HCl 가스와 반응하여 KCl 결정을 형성하였으며, 강한 결합에너지로 인하여 흡수제의 재생이 실질적으로 불가능하였다. 이에 대한 광학적, 물리적, 화학적 특성을 SEM, EDX, BET, TGA, XRD를 이용하여 분석하였다. $400^{\circ}C$, 20 bar 조건(가스화 이후 탈할로겐 공정의 온도 및 압력조건)에서 $K_2CO_3$ 흡수제는 Ca 계열 및 Mg 계열의 흡수제에 비해 높은 HCl 흡수능 및 HCl/$N_2$ 분리 거동을 보였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 국제적으로 개발 중인 초고온가스로와 연계하여 대량의 수소를 생산하기 위한 방안의 일환으로 국내에서 개발 중인 고온증기전기분해 시스템에 사용될 열교환기 재료의 고온증기 부식실험에 대해 소개하였다. 이를 위해 관련된 국내외 연구현황을 조사분석한 결과를 요약하여 소개하였으며 마지막으로 현재 수행중인 고온증기부식 연구의 실험조건 및 계획을 제시하였다. 실험 및 연구결과는 초고온가스로와 연계된 고온전기분해를 이용한 수소생산시스템의 개발에 활용될 예정이다.

직접분사식 바이오 에탄올-가솔린 혼합연료의 연료온도에 따른 분무 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Spray Characteristics of Directly Injected Bio-Ethanol-Gasoline Blended Fuel By Varying Fuel Temperature)

  • As environment problem became a worldwide issue, countries are tightening regulations regarding greenhouse gas reduction and improvement of air pollution problems. With these circumstances, one of the renewable energies produced from biomass is getting attention. Bio-ethanol, which is applicable to SI engine, showed a positive effect on the PFI (Port Fuel Injection) type. However, Ethanol has a problem in homogeneous mixture formation because it has high latent heat of vaporization characteristics and in the GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) type, mixture formation is required quickly after fuel injection. Particularly, South Korea is one of the countries with great temperature variation among seasons. With this reason, South Korea supply fuel additive for smooth engine operation during winter. Therefore, experimental study and investigation about application possibility of blending fuel is necessary. This paper demonstrates the spray characteristics by using the CVC direct injection and setting the bio-ethanol blending fuel temperature close to the temperature during each seasons: -7, 25, $35^{\circ}C$. The diameter and the width of the CVC are 86mm and 39mm. High-pressure fuel supply system was used for target injection pressure. High-speed camera was used for spray visualization. The experiment was conducted by setting the injection pressure and ambient pressure according to each temperature of bio-ethanol blending fuel as a parameter. The result of spray visualization experiment demonstrates that as the temperature of the fuel is lower, the atomization quality is lower, and this increase spray penetration and make mixture formation difficult. Injection strategy according to fuel temperature and bio-ethanol blending rate is needed for improving characteristics.

컴팩션된 Ti-Mn계 합금의 수소저장 및 방출 특성 (Hydrogen Storage and Release Properties for Compacted Ti-Mn Alloy)

  • Hydrogen forms metal hydrides with some metals and alloys leading to solid-state storage under moderate temperature and pressure that gives them the safety advantage over the gas and liquid storage methods. However, it has disadvantages of slow hydrogen adsorption-desorption time and low thermal conductivity. To improve characteristics of metal hydrides, it is important that activation and thermal conductivity of metal hydrides are improved. In this study, we have been investigated hydrogen storage properties of Hydralloy C among Ti-Mn alloys. Also, the characteristics of activation and thermal conductivity of Hydralloy C were enhanced to improve kinetics of hydrogen adsorption-desorption. As physical activation method, PHEM (planetary high energy mill) was performed in Ar or $H_2$ atmosphere. Hydralloy C was also activated by $TiCl_3$ catalyst. To improve thermal conductivity, various types of ENG (expanded natural graphite) were used. The prepared samples were compacted at pressure of 500 bar. As a result, the activation properties of $H_2$ PHEM treated Hydralloy C was better than the other activation methods. Also, the amounts of hydrogen storage showed up to 1.6 wt%. When flake type ENG was added to Hydralloy C, thermal conductivity and hydrogen storage properties were improved.

분사조건에 따른 가솔린 직접분사용 다공 분사기에서의 LPG 분무특성 (LPG Spray Characteristics in a Multi-hole Injector for Gasoline Direct Injection)

  • Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is regarded as an alternative fuel for spark ignition engine due to similar or even higher octane number. In addition, LPG has better fuel characteristics including high vaporization characteristic and low carbon/hydrogen ratio leading to a reduction in carbon dioxide emission. Recently, development of LPG direct injection system started to improve performance of vehicles fuelled with LPG. However, spray characteristics of LPG were not well understood, which is should be known to develop injector for LPG direct injection engines. In this study, effects of operation condition including ambient pressure, temperature, and injection pressure on spray properties of n-butane were evaluated and compared to gasoline in a multi-hole injector. As general characteristics of both fuels, spray penetration becomes smaller with an increase of ambient pressure as well as a reduction in the injection pressure. However, it is found that evaporation of n-butane was faster compared to gasoline under all experimental condition. As a result, spray penetration of n-butane was shorter than that of gasoline. This result was due to higher vapor pressure and lower boiling point of n-butane. On the other hand, spray angle of both fuels do not vary much except under high ambient temperature conditions. Furthermore, spray shape of n-butane spray becomes completely different from that of gasoline at high ambient temperature conditions due to flash boiling of n-butane.

HCNG 충전 시스템 공정모사 (Process Simulation of HCNG Refueling System)

  • 수소와 압축천연가스가 30 : 70비율로 혼합되는 HCNG 공급 시스템의 공정모사를 수행하였다. 수소 생산은 천연가스로부터 수증기 개질 공정을 이용하는 방법이며, 수증기 개질반응기 운전조건으로 SCR은 증가할수록 천연가스의 전환율은 증가하지만 SCR이 3이상부터는 큰 차이가 없었고, GHSV는 증가할수록 연료처리량이 증가하지만 전환율은 감소하여 $1700h^{-1}$일 때 전환율 및 연료처리량이 최적상태가 되었다. CNG는 저압 천연가스가로부터 압축되어 공급되는 시스템이다. 혼합용 수소와 천연가스는 고압상태에서 HCNG로 혼합된다. 수소와 천연가스는 각각 400 bar와 250 bar의 고압으로 압축된다. 고압압축을 위해 단일압축보다 압축소요동력이 적게 사용되는 다단 압축을 사용하였다. 수소와 천연가스압축에 각각 사용된 압축기들의 압축 총 소요 동력을 최소화하는 중간 설정압력으로 각각 61 bar, 65 bar의 중간압력을 도출하였다.
