Recently, the market of Electric Vehicle(EV) is increasing more and more than before. Thus a new heater for the EV is required. The PTC devices may be used the heater for the EV. In this paper, a simple DC-DC Converter is proposed as the PTC Heater for the EV. The proposed circuit was optimally desired to decrease the stress of the power devices and reduce the current ripples. To apply the result of the test in the laboratory to the actual EV system with the high DC voltage, ripple current, average current and output peak current are predicted by using the least-squares method. Finally, the proposed circuit is validated by various experiments.
Fuel cell power system is one of the most promising energy source for the alternative energy because it has unique advantages such as high energy density, no power drop during operation, and feasible to make compact size. However, due to very low response time, fuel cell is difficult to correspond to drastic load changes and start-up operation. For solving these problem, fuel cell power system must include energy storage device such as Li-Poly battery or super capacitor. Therefore, bi-directional DC-DC converter must be required for this storage device and fuel cell-PCS control. This paper presents a design and modeling of the bi-directional DC/DC converter. Firstly, we present modeling the boost and buck mode of the bi-directional converter through both PWM switch model and state space averaging technique. Secondly, in order to minimize output ripple and transient response overshoot, we have two identical DC-DC converters interleaved and adopt two-loop voltage-current controller. The proposed bi-directional DC-DC converter's modeling method and control design have been verified with computer simulation and experimentation.
In this paper, using interleaved power factor correction how to improve the inverter efficiency studied. Interleaved method can reduce the conduction losses and the inductor energy. Generally, critical conduction mode (CRM) boost PFC converter used low power level because of the high peak currents. if you use the interleaved mode, CRM PFC can be used medium or high power application. interleaved CRM PFC can reduce current ripple for higher system reliability and size of buck capacitor and EMI filter size. Interleaved CRM PFC that is installed in front of inverter can maintain the constant voltage regardless of the input voltage.
This research paper describes the development of battery charger with a variable output voltage capacity for charging the batteries used in electrical vehicles. The voltage and current accordingly is control via the buck converter that receives three phase current at primary side and fed to bridge rectifier which is comprised of full bridge converter and HFTR(High Frequency Transformer) for isolation and a square wave AC output. The transformer primary side is in series to divide certain charging current and the secondary side is comprised of six fix transformers so that they can generate certain amount of power and various output voltage through relay connection using 6 DC outputs. Moreover, all parallel connected full bridge serial resonant converter communicate together with upper(main) controller. The constructed structure is verified by conducting the test on PSIM as well as experimentally.
This paper presents a current-source-inverter based on a buck-boost configuration and its application for residential photovoltaic system. The proposed circuit has five switches. Among them, only one switch acts as chopping, and the other determine the polarity of output; therefore, it can reduce the switching loss. Because the input inductor current is operated on the discontinuous conduction mode, high power factor can be achieved without additional input current controller. So the overall system shows a simple structure. The operational modes are analysed in depth, and then it was verified through the experimental results using a 150 [W] prototype equipped with digital signal processor TMS320F241.

Generally, the conventional battery charging system using an analog method has the large, heavy hardware and low efficiency. Also, it has the disadvantage that it is necessary to replace the control circuit on the basis of the characteristic curve of the specific battery cell. The proposed programmable digital LLC resonant charging system use high efficiency control system(CC-CV), and has characteristic a small hardware and advantage that a digital programming of the voltage, current, and battery capacity characteristics can be flexible. The system proposed the use of Half-bridge LLC resonant converter is possible to improve efficiency and reduce switching losses by using ZVS topology. Further, a constant voltage - constant current(CC-CV) control algorithm apply to the charger which using a buck converter. The performance of the proposed system is demonstrated through experiments.
In this study, we propose a low voltage stress and cost-effective light emitting diode (LED) driver capable of multi-channel current balancing. Conventional LED drivers require as many boost converters as the number of LED channels, whereas the proposed LED driver requires only one buck converter and several balancing capacitors instead of several expensive boost converters. Additionally, while the components of the boost converter have high voltage stress and depend on the LED driving voltage, components of the proposed driver have about one-half of the voltage stress across all components. The proposed driver exhibits high reliability and cost effectiveness because it only uses few DC blocking capacitors with no additional active devices to balance the current of multi-channel LEDs. The proposed driver exhibits high reliability and cost effectiveness. The validity of the proposed driver is confirmed through a theoretical analysis. An explanation of the design considerations and experimental results were obtained using a prototype applicable to a 46" LED-TV.
