수반모형을 이용한 한반도 남동지역의 오존 전구물질의 오존 생성 민감도에 관한 수치연구 (Numerical Study on the Ozone Formation Sensitivity of Precursors Using Adjoint Model around the South-eastern Area of the Korean Peninsula)

  • 한반도 동남 지역에서 고농도 오존이 발생한 사례에 대해 $NO_x$에 대한 오존의 수반민감도를 살펴보았다. 사례일에 지배적이었던 국지 순환과 고농도 오존을 모의하기 위해 WRF-CMAQ 모델을 사용하였다. 수반민감도 분석을 위해 CMAQ의 수반 모델을 적용하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 고농도 오존에 주변지역이 미친 영향을 살펴본 수용지 중심의 민감도 분석이다. 또한, 행정 구역별 기여도를 정량적으로 산정하였는데, 대구를 수용지로 하는 민감도 분석 결과 영향지역은 대구에 인접하여 포항으로 이어지는 영역과 남동쪽으로 떨어진 넓은 지역으로 나타났다. 첫 번째 영역은 고농도 사례일 당일에 배출된 $NO_x$의 민감도가 주로 나타났고 두 번째 영역은 전 날 배출에 의한 영향이었다. 반면, 부산을 수용지로 한 경우 사례일 당일 주간의 해풍의 영향으로 같은 날의 $NO_x$ 배출 효과 보다는 전 날 배출되었던 농도에 대한 민감도가 더 중요하였다. 민감도 영향지역에 대한 단면도 분석 결과 지표부근의 $NO_x$ 수송과 함께 상층에서 이류되는 영향도 중요하였다.

지표 자외선 복사 변화에 미치는 오존 전량, 구름 및 적설 효과 (Effects of Ozone, Cloud and Snow on Surface UV Irradiance)

  • Total solar irradiance (750), total UV irradiunce (TUV) and erythemal UV irradiance (EUV) measured at King Sejong station $(62.22^{\circ}S,\;58.78^{\circ}W)$ in west Antarctica have been used together with total ozone, cloud amount and snow cover to examine the effects of ozone, cloud and snow surface on these surface solar inadiunce over the period of 1998-2003. The data of three solar components for each scan were grouped by cloud amount, n in oktas $(0{\leq}n<3,\;3{\leq}n<4,\;4{\leq}n<5,\;5{\leq}n<6,\;6{\leq}n<7\;and\;7{\leq}n<8)$ and plotted against solar zenith angle (SZA) over the range of $45^{\circ}\;to\;75^{\circ}$. The radiation amplification factor (RAE) is used to quantify ozone effect on EUV. RAF of EUV decreases from 1.51 to 0.94 under clear skies but increases from 0.94 to 1.85 under cloudy skies as SZA increases, and decreases from 1.51 to 1.01 as cloud amount increases. The effects of cloud amount and snow surface on EUV are estimated as a function of SZA and cloud amount after normalization of the data to the reference total ozone of 300 DU. In order to analyse the transmission of solar radiation by cloud, regression analyses have been performed for the maximum values of solar irradiance on clear sky conditions $(0{\leq}n<3)$ and the mean values on cloudy conditions, respectively. The maximum regression values for the clear sky cases were taken to represent minimum aerosol conditions fur the site and thus appropriate for use as a normalization (reference) factor for the other regressions. The overall features for the transmission of the three solar components show a relatively high values around SZAs of $55^{\circ}\;and\;60^{\circ}$ under all sky conditions and cloud amounts $4{\leq}n<5$ and $5{\leq}n<6$. The transmission is, in general, the largest in TUV and the smallest in EUV among the three components of the solar irradiance. If the ground is covered with snow on partly cloudy days $(6{\leq}n<7)$, EUV increases by 20 to 26% compared to snow-free surface around SZA $60^{\circ}-65^{\circ}$, due to multiple reflections and scattering between the surface and the clouds. The relative difference between snow surface and snow-free surface slowly increases from 9% to 20% as total ozone increases from 100 DU to 400 DU under partly cloud conditions $(3{\leq}n<6)$ at SZA $60^{\circ}$. The snow effects on TUV and TSO are relatively high with 32% and 34%, respectively, under clear sky conditions, while the effects changes to 36% and 20% for TUV and TSO, respectively, as cloud amount increases.

기후변화에 따른 보건 분야의 취약성 평가: O3을 중심으로 (Vulnerability Assessment of Human Health Sector due to Climate Change: Focus on Ozone)

  • Adaptation of climate change is necessary to avoid unexpected impacts of climate change caused by human activities. Vulnerability refers to the degree to which system cannot cope with impacts of climate change, encompassing physical, social and economic aspects. Therefore the quantification of climate change impacts and its vulnerability is needed to identify vulnerable regions and to setup the proper strategies for adaptation. In this study, climate change vulnerability is defined as a function of climate exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. Also, we identified regions vulnerable to ozone due to climate change in Korea using developed proxy variables of vulnerability of regional level. 18 proxy variables are selected through delphi survey to assess vulnerability over human health sector for ozone concentration change due to climate change. Also, we estimate the weighting score of proxy variables from delphi survey. The results showed that the local regions with higher vulnerability index in the sector of human health are Seoul and Daegu, whereas regions with lower one are Jeollanam-do, Gyeonggi-do, Gwangju, Busan, Daejeon, and Gangwon-do. The regions of high level vulnerability are mainly caused by their high ozone exposure. We also assessed future vulnerability according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (SRES) A2, A1FI, A1T, A1B, B2, and B1 scenarios in 2020s, 2050s and 2100s. The results showed that vulnerability increased in all scenarios due to increased ozone concentrations. Especially vulnerability index is increased by approximately 2 times in A1FI scenarios in the 2020s. This study could support regionally adjusted adaptation polices and the quantitative background of policy priority as providing the information on the regional vulnerability of ozone due to climate change in Korea.

혼합기 오존 첨가에 따른 SI기관의 배기배출물 특성 (Exhaust Emissions Characteristics on the SI Engine according to the Air-Fuel Mixture with Ozone)

  • In a conventional and lean operating engine, the state of mixture is very important in the combustion and emission characteristics. Lean operation is known to decrease the formation while maintaining a good fuel economy, but the unstable operation due to misfire and erratic combustion prevents engines from being operated at very lean mixtures, so both combustion rates and exhaust emission formation need to be satisfied comparably. In this study, it is designed and experimented the modified engine, and analyzed the combustion and exhaust emission according to the change of engine speed and with adding ozone. The conclusions were drawn out and enumerated as follows. 1. At the experimental result of automobile diesel engine, it has been verified that the formation of particulate matter(PM) gas is able to be lower with the addition of optimum quantities of ozone. 2. Carbon monoxide(CO) was formed by the lack of oxygen and the thermal dissociation in the combustion process. Therefore, with the change of swirl valve's position and addition of oxygen and ozone, CO formation was decreased by the increasing of excessive O2, but it was increased by the temperature of combustion gas growing higher. As a result of the two effects, CO formation was decreased in this study. 3. Hydrocarbon(HC) was formed by the lack of O2, and the flow of mixture in cylinder. According to opening of the swirl valve and adding the oxygen and ozone, hydrocarbon gas was decreased by 20%, 9%, and 27.5%, respectively. 4. Nitric oxides($NO_x$) was strongly affected by the combustion gas temperature. As a result of respectively experimental conditions, $NO_x$ formation was increased about 20% due to (be the) high(er) combustion gas temperature.

고농도 오존을 적용한 DOF와 PO2 시스템의 축산폐수처리 (Livestock Wastewater Treatment Using the DOF and PO2 System with High Concentration of Ozone)

  • 축산폐수는 고농도의 난분해성 유기물질을 많이 함유하고 있기 때문에 처리하기가 매우 어려운 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현장에 건설된 오존을 이용한 시스템인 DOF(Dissolved Ozone Flotation)와 PO2(Pressurized Ozone Oxidation)에 의한 축산폐수의 처리특성을 조사하였다. DOF-PO2의 유입수내에 존재하는 SS의 제거율은 94%를 상회하여 약 400 mg/L의 농도를 22 mg/L까지 낮출 수 있었다. $COD_{Mn}$의 제거율도 90%정도로 620 mg/L로 유입되어 63 mg/L로 유출되었다. $SCOD_{Cr}$은 890 mg/L 정도가 유입되었으며 82%가 제거되어 160 mg/L 정도로 유출되었다. UV-254흡광도는 96%제거 되었다. 특히 TP의 제거율은 98%가 넘었고 27 mg/L가 유입되어 0.35 mg/L만이 유출되었다. TN도 SS의 제거와 함께 68%정도 제거되었으나 오존에 의한 제거효과는 없었다. DOF-PO2시스템에 의한 고농도 오존산화공정을 미생물처리공정과 같이 적용할 경우 축산폐수처리공정의 방류수 수질기준을 맞출 수 있었다.

Characteristics of Ozone Precursor Emissions and POCP in the Biggest Port City in Korea

  • Emissions of ozone precursors ($NO_x$ and VOCs) and photochemical ozone creation potentials (POCPs) of VOC emission sources were investigated in the largest port city (i.e., Busan), Korea during the year 2011. This analysis was performed using the Clean Air Policy Support System (CAPSS) national emission inventory provided by the National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER), Korea. For $NO_x$, the emissions from off-road mobile sources in Busan were the most dominant (e.g., $31,202ton\;yr^{-1}$), accounting for about 60% of the total $NO_x$ emissions. The emission from shipping of off-road mobile sources (e.g., $24,922ton\;yr^{-1}$) was a major contributor to their total emissions, amounting to 47% of the total $NO_x$ emissions due to the port-related activities in Busan. For VOCs, the emission source category of solvent usage was predominant (e.g., $36,062ton\;yr^{-1}$), accounting for approximately 82% of the total VOC emissions. Out of solvent usages, the emission from painting was the most dominant ($22,733ton\;yr^{-1}$), comprising 52% of the total emissions from solvent usages. The most dominant VOC species emitted from their sources in Busan was toluene, followed by xylene, butane, ethylbenzene, n-butanol, isopropyl alcohol, and propane. The major emission sources of toluene and xylene were found to be painting of coil coating and ship building, respectively. The value of POCP for the off-road mobile source (61) was the highest in ten major activity sectors of VOC emissions. Since the POCP value of ship transport of off-road mobile source (72) was also high enough to affect ozone concentration, the ship emission can play a significant role in ozone production of the port city like Busan.

도마표면의 병원성미생물 제어를 위한 오존수 처리효과 (Effect of Ozone Water to Reduce Pathogenic Microorganisms on Chopping Board)

  • 식품 및 식품접촉 표면의 식중독균을 제어하기 위해 오존수를 사용하는 사례가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 HDPE 도마와 나무도마에 오염된 식중독균 제거를 위해 오존수 처리의 살균효과를 평가하였다. E. coli O157:H7, S. aureus, S. Typhimurium, B. cereus 모두 오염원 도마 표면을 오존수로 처리 시 농도 증가에 따른 1-5 log의 살균력이 관찰되었고, 세척보다는 침지 처리가 살균력이 높았다(p<0.05). E. coli O157:H7, S. Typhimurium 등 그람 음성균이 S. aureus, B. cereus 등 그람양성균보다 오존수에 대한 저항성이 낮았으며, 나무도마보다 HDPE 도마에서 더 높은 살균력을 보였다. 본 연구 결과는 식품가공공장의 식품접촉 표면 식중독 미생물 제어에 효과적으로 활용될 것이다.

Feeding influences the oxidative stability of poultry meat treated with ozone

  • Objective: Ozone is considered a strong antimicrobial agent with numerous potential applications in the food industry. However, its high oxidizing potential can induce alterations in foods by acting on the unsaturated fatty acids. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of ozonation on the oxidative stability of chicken breast meat obtained from animals subjected to different feeding strategies. Methods: Samples were obtained from commercial hybrid chickens (ROSS 508), some of which were nourished with a feed enriched with fats of animal origin, while the lipid source was vegetal for the remaining birds. Samples of meat belonging to both groups were treated with ozone and then analysis was performed to evaluate alterations in physical properties, lipid content, fatty acid profile, and oxidation stability. Results: Ozone induced a significant reduction in drip loss in meat samples obtained from animals nourished with vegetable fats; this nutritional strategy also produced meats leaner and richer in polyunsaturated fatty acids. Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, useful for the assessment of lipid oxidation, were higher in samples obtained from animals fed with vegetable fats with respect to diet based on the addition of animal fats. Conclusion: The ozone treatment improved the physical parameters of meat samples obtained from animals fed with vegetable fats, however the same samples showed a higher lipid oxidation compared to what observed in the case of the dietary intake of animal fats, probably as a consequence of the marked increase in polyunsaturated fatty acids which are more susceptible to peroxidation.

DOF 공정에 의한 정수처리 효과 (Effect of Drinking Water Treatment by DOF(Dissolved Ozone Flotation) System)

  • 본 연구에서는 용존오존부상법(Dissolved Ozone Flotation; DOF)을 이용한 정수처리 효과를 파악하기 위하여 적정 오존 주입 농도와 오존 주입 농도별 처리 특성에 대해서 연구하였으며, 또한 용존공기부상법(Dissolved Air Flotation; DAF) 및 중력식 침전법(Conventional Gravity Sedimentation; CGS)과 DOF의 처리 성능을 비교하였다. 최적 오존 주입 농도를 산정하기 위한 실험에서 최적 오존 주입농도는 2.7 mg/L로 나타났으며, 오존 주입 농도가 증가할수록 탁도 및 KMnO$_4$ 소모량, UV$_{254}$ 흡수도, TOC 등과 같은 제거효율이 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. DOF와 DAF, CGS의 처리성능을 비교한 결과 오존 주입 농도 2.7 mg/L로 운전한 DOF시스템의 탁도 제거효율은 88.9%, 유기물질 항목의 경우 KMnO$_4$ 소모량은 62.9%, TOC 47%, 그리고 UV$_{254}$ 흡수도 77.3% 그리고 THMFP 제거율의 경우 51.6%로 다른 두 공정보다 높거나 비슷하게 나타났다. 따라서 응집 부상 공정과 오존 산화 공정이 하나의 반응기에서 일어나는 DOF 시스템은 정수처리시설의 소유부지 감소와 기존 CGS 시스템에서 처리가 어려운 조류 및 용존성 유기물질의 제거를 통해 소독부산물의 생성을 감소시킴으로 향후 고도정수처리시스템으로 적용 가능성이 충분한 것으로 판단된다.

  • 급격한 도시화는 도시의 기후변조와 함께 오존오염 문제를 야기 시켰다. 즉 지표오존(ground-level ozone)의 고농도 현상이 도시대기환경의 주된 관심사가 되었고, 이를 해결하기 위해 여러 연구가 국내·외에서 지역특성에 맞게 활발히 이루어지고 있는 실정이다. 일반적으로 지표오존은 전구물질의 배출량 및 도시의 지형학적 위치와 기상학적 특성에 따라 생성·소멸·이류 메카니즘이 다르게 나타난다. 따라서 이러한 국지적 특성의 고려는 지표오존의 고농도분석에 있어 반드시 수반되어야 하며, 이를 바탕으로 최종적으로 농도예측이 이루어 져야 할 것이다.
