  • This paper proposes a grid-tied power conditioning system for the fuel cell power generation, which consists of a 2-stage DC-DC converter and a 3-phase PWM inverter. The 2-stage DC-DC converter boosts the fuel cell stack voltage of 26-48V up to 400V, using a hard-switching boost converter and a high-frequency unregulated LLC resonant converter. The operation of the proposed power conditioning system was verified through simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software. Based on the simulation results, a laboratory experimental set-up was built with a 1.2kW PEM fuel-cell stack to verify the feasibility of hardware implementation. The developed power conditioning system shows a high efficiency of 91%, which is a very positive result for the commercialization.

  • This paper describes the speed control system of an induction type ac servomotor drive on the vector control basis of slip frequency and constant secondary flux control for a quick torque response. The system is composed of a digital controller using a SCB-V50 microprocessor and a PWM inverter with power MOSFETs for high speed switching. And, for the measurement of actual instantaneous currents, MDCS A070-051 hall sensors are employed. The rising time of step responce by this system through the test of a 600[W] ac servomotor is 30[ms]. Overall experimental result shows that the drive performance of the system is similar to that of a separately excited armature current control of a dc motior.

The high density plasma required for cleaning causes a possibility of high density plasma more than $1{\times}10^{11}[EA/cm^3]$. It apply a ferrite core of ferromagnetic body to a existing ICP form. In case of power transfer equipment on 400[kHz] high frequency to generation of plasma it makes certain a stable switching operation in condition of plasma through using a inverter form for general purpose HB. And it demonstrates the performance of power transfer equipment using methods of measurement which use a transformer of series combination the density of plasma and the rate of dissolution of $NF_3$ in condition of $A_r\;and\;NF_3$.

  • Due to the high efficiency and compact mechanical structure, direct drive variable speed generators are used for power conversion in wind turbines. The wind energy conversion system (WECS) considered in this paper consists of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG), uncontrolled rectifier, dc-dc boost converter controlled with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and adaptive hysteresis controlled voltage source inverter (VSI). For high utilization of the converter's power capability and stabilizing voltage and power flow, constant DC-link voltage is essential. Step and search MPPT algorithm which senses the rectified voltage ($V_{DC}$) alone and controls the same is used to effectively maximize the output power. The adaptive hysteresis band current control is characterized by fast dynamic response and constant switching frequency. With MPPT and adaptive hysteresis band current control in VSI, the DC link voltage is maintained constant under variable wind speeds and transient grid currents respectively.

  • Recently, a fuel cell with low voltage and high current of electronic output characteristics is remarkable for new generation system. It needs both a dc-dc boost converter and do-ac inverter to be used in domestic power. Therefore, this paper presents do-dc boost converter with ZVS for fuel cell generation system This topology has several advantages, which are ZVS characteristics of all of main and auxiliary switches, reduction of reactor component size because of high frequency switching, and low rated voltage stress of the switches. In this paper, theoretical analysis, operation principle, and design procedures are presented. And simulation results from Pspice are presented to validate the theoretical analysis.

  • The development of advanced Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor(IGBT)has enabled high-frequency switching operation and has improved the performance of PWM inverters for motor drive. However, the high rate of dv/dt of IGBT has adverse effects on motor insulation stress. In many motor drive applications, the inverter and motor are separated and it requires long motor feds. The long cable contributes high frequency ringing at the motor terminal and it results in hight surge voltage which stresses the motor insulation. The inverter output filter and RDC snubber are conventional method which can reduce the surge voltage. In this paper, we propose the new low loss snubber to reduce the motor terminal surge voltage. The snubber consists of the series connection of charging/discharging capacitor and the voltage-clamped capacitor. At IGBT turn-off, the snubber starts to operate when the IGBT voltage reaches the voltage-clamped level. Since dv/dt is decreased by snubber operating, the peak level of the surge voltage can be reduced. Also the snubber operates at the IGBT voltage above the voltage-clamped level, the snubber loss is largely reduced comparing with RDC snubber. The proposed snubber enables to reduce the motor terminal surge voltage with low loss.

  • Recently, a fuel cell with low voltage and high current output characteristics is remarkable for new generation system. It needs both a DC-DC step-up converter and DC-AC inverter to be used in fuel cell generation system. Therefor, this paper, consists of an isolated DC-DC converter to boost the fuel cell voltage $380[V_{DC}]$ and a PWM inverter with LC filter to convent the DC voltage to single-phase $220[V_{AC}]$. Expressly, a tapped inductor filter with freewheeling diode is newly implemented in the output filter of the proposed high frequency isolated ZVZCS PWM DC-DC converter to suppress circulating current under the wide output voltage regulation range, thus to eliminate the switching and transformer turn-on/off over-short voltage or transient phenomena. Besides the efficiency of 93-97[%]is obtained over the wide output voltage regulation ranges and load variations.

  • Direct torque control based on space vector modulation (SVM-DTC) protects the DTC transient merits. Furthermore, it creates better quality steady-state performance in a wide speed range. The modified method of DTC using SVM improves the electrical magnitudes of asynchronous machines, such as minimizing the stator current distortions, the stator flux with electromagnetic torque without ripple, the fast response of the rotor speed, and the constant switching frequency. In this paper, the proposed method is based on two new control strategies for direct torque control with space vector modulation. First, fuzzy logic control is used instead of the PI torque and a PI flux controller to minimizing the torque error and to achieve a constant switching frequency. The voltages in the direct and quadratic reference frame ($V_d$, $V_q$) are achieved by fuzzy logic control. In this scheme, the switching capability of the inverter is fully utilized, which improves the system performance. Second, the close loop of stator flux estimation based on the voltage model and a low pass filter is used to counteract the drawbacks in the open loop of the stator flux such as the problems saturation and dc drift. The response of this new control strategy is compared with DTC-SVM. The experimental and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control topology outperforms the conventional DTC-SVM in terms of system robustness and eliminating the bad outcome of dc-offset.

Generally, multilevel inverters are used in high power application and operates with low switching frequency, which, in turn, generates large output harmonics. Output filters we used to reduce output harmonics. The design approach to reduce output harmonics of the 31eve1 multilevel inverter is discussed and DSP(TMS320C31) is used for the digital control of the system. The design example is given. The designed system is verified by simulation and experiment.

  • A novel algorithm is proposed to regulate the neutral point potential in neutral point clamped three-level inverters. Oscillations of the neutral point potential and an unbalanced dc-link voltage cause distortions of the output voltage. Large capacitors, which make the application costly and bulky, are needed to eliminate oscillations. Thus, the algorithm proposed in this paper utilizes the finite-control-set model predictive control and the multistage medium vector to solve these issues. The proposed strategy consists of a two-step prediction and a cost function to evaluate the selected multistage medium vector. Unlike the virtual vector method, the multistage medium vector is a mixture of the virtual vector and the original vector. In addition, its amplitude is variable. The neutral point current generated by it can be used to adjust the neutral point potential. When compared with the virtual vector method, the multistage medium vector contributes to decreasing the regulation time when the modulation index is high. The vectors are rearranged to cope with the variable switching frequency of the model predictive control. Simulation and experimental results verify the validity of the proposed strategy.
