It is often assumed that text regions in images are characterized by some distinctive or characteristic spatial frequencies. This feature is highly intuitive, and thus appealing as much. We propose a method of detecting horizontal texts in natural scene images. It is based on the use of two features that can be employed separately or in succession: the frequency of edge pixels across vertical and horizontal scan lines, and the fundamental frequency in the Fourier domain. We confirmed that the frequency features are language independent. Also addressed is the detection of quadrilaterals or approximate rectangles using Hough transform. Since texts that is meaningful to many viewers usually appear within rectangles with colors in high contrast to the background. Hence it is natural to assume the detection rectangles may be helpful for locating desired texts correctly in natural outdoor scene images.
Purpose: This study was a descriptive research to provide fundamental data in ensuring a high quality of nursing service needed by children's parent according to perception of uncertainty and care satisfaction of them between pediatric outpatient department and emergency room. Methods: For this study, 192 children's parents were questioned in a general hospital located in Busan from August 1 to 31. 2009. The collected data were scored by use of frequencies, $x^2$ test, t-test, AONVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient via SPSS/WIN 17.0. Results: With the compare of characteristics related to children's parents visiting emergency room and pediatric outpatient department, there were statistically significant difference in relation and age of parent, main caregiver, cause of arrival, and waiting time from arrival to procedure. The perception of uncertainty for parent in the emergency room showed significant difference to outpatient department. In nursing service, the highest score was category of professional skill and technic. In addition, overall parents' perceptions on providing information showed lower than any other nursing service. Last but not least, a significant correlation indicated between the perception of uncertainty and satisfaction of nursing service. Conclusion: Efforts to improve parent satisfaction for nursing service are needed to decrease their perception of uncertainty. Providing information and communication by nurses are necessary to improve quality of nursing service.

Design issues of multi-beam satellite transponders have been actively studied. Multi-beam satellite transponders can be used in the first SS/TDMA system for satellite interactive multi-media services in Korea. To be used in SS/TDMA systems, a satellite transponder must have either base-band OBP(On-board Processor) or MSM(Microwave Switching Matrix) on-board switch those are capable to provide inter-connections to many earth stations in different beam coverages or different frequencies, i.e., Ka and Ku band. The use of MSM is considered proper due to a substantial developing cost and the required high techniques in base-band OBP. In this paper, we present a designed scheme of transponder being optimally suitable to the targeted SS/TDMA satellite systems, also analysis the performance.

To protect digital communications and broadcasting that are expected to be increasingly used at frequencies above 1GHz, there is a need to determine permissible disturbance limits for frequency bands above 1GHz according to indicates that better correlates with interference level in digital systems. The quality of digital communications is expressed in terms of bit error rate(BER) or throughput. In this regard, it has been reported that degradation of BER or throughput can be estimated from the amplitude probability distribution (APD) of disturbance amplitude. Therefore, if the APD can simply be measured with a high accuracy, APD will be an optimal index for the assessment of interference in digital communications. In this paper, we show that a measurement method using statistic model of APD has compatibility about performance reduction estimation of WLAN. And through approach of this inspection, we propose numeral models about interference effects of peak value and time rate of spurious.
The purpose of this study is to provide a meaningful thought to professionals and administrators of Korea working for Consumer General Education development at their Universities. Also, tips for organizing and meaning Consumer General Education Curriculum effectively are provided. Finally, the study suggests essential elements to improve qualities of Consumer General Education in Korea Universities. This study's method are content analysis through web site and survey. The subjects of this survey were 257 students. The data were collected by questionnaire developed by researcher and analyzed by frequencies, correlation Analysis, One Way Anova, Duncan Test, Factor Analysis, Multiple Regression Analysis. The major findings were as follows: University students's satisfaction level about General Education was low and the needs level about Consumer General Education was high. And the education service quality showed factors to be administrative service element, professor service element, classroom environment element, communication element. And Multiple Regression Analysis on each of the education service quality factors had been significant effects for find out the differences in the degree of satisfaction.

This paper has proposed a multi-channel low pass filter (LPF) for LTE-Advanced systems. The proposed LPF is an active-RC 5th chebyshev topology with three cut-off frequencies of 5 MHz, 10 MHz, and 40 MHz. A 3-bit tuning circuit has been adopted to prevent variations of each cut-off frequency from process, voltage, and temperature (PVT). To achieve a high cut-off frequency of 40 MHz, an operational amplifier used in the proposed filter has employed a PMOS cross-connection load with a negative impedance. A proposed filter has been implemented in a 0.13-${\mu}m$ CMOS technology and consumes 20.2 mW with a 1.2 V supply voltage.
In this paper, design, simulation, fabrication method, and measured results of a digital frequency discriminator(DFD) operating in E, F, and G band are introduced. We describe the direct conversion scheme(DCS) with microwave integrated-circuit(MIC) developed for the small-area and high-speed system. When the input signal is the pulse with a pulse width of 100 ns, accuracy of frequencies measured by the DFD has 1.335 MHz RMS at no noise and 2.64 MHz RMS at signal-to-noise(S/N) ratio within 3 dB in E, F, and G band, which nearly satisfy the specification of 2.5 MHz RMS.
This study was conducted to examine housing preferences among single-person households and to propose guidelines for housing design choices for single people. One hundred and sixty responses to the questionnaire developed by this researcher were analyzed utilizing frequencies, percentages, and t-tests. There were significant differences between single households and non-single households in various aspects of housing preferences. Differences were found in the desired type and size of housing, needed amount of space, and the importance of space itself. Single persons wanted to live in a small apartment, about 83.45$m^2$ (25.29 pyung) size. They consider the bathroom and the master bedroom more important than the living room and kitchen. They prefer to have specifically function-oriented rooms such as shower, home office, computer room, exercise room, or leisure space. Single persons consider information-technological facilities within an apartment very important. They would like to adopt automatic and electronic technology in the house, such as optical communication network, automatic air-cleaning system, and internet TV. Housing preferences differ significantly according to socio-demographic variables such as gender and age. I propose in this study a small-sized, information-, high-tech- and leisure-oriented design that corresponds with the actual housing preferences of the single-person households.

SoC design integrates many IPs that operate at different frequencies and the use of the different clock for each IP makes the design the most effective one. An asynchronous FIFO is required as a kind of a buffer to connect IPs that are asynchronous. However, in many cases, asynchronous FIFO is designed improperly and the cost of the wrong design is high. In this paper, an asynchronous FIFO is designed to transfer data across asynchronous clock domains by using a valid bit scheme that eliminates the problem of the metastability and synchronization altogether. This FIFO architecture is described in HDL and synthesized to the Bate level to compare with other FIFO scheme. The subject mater of this paper is under patent pending.

In this paper we proposed a dual-frequency circular sector microstrip antenna with orthogonal polarized modes and high isolation between the two feeding ports. And then we designed a transceiver operating at 5.6 GHz for transmitting and at 5.5 GHz for receiving. The good isolation provided by the proposed antenna is used as the basis for the transmit-receive filtering of transceiver. The operating frequencies and polarization characteristics of the proposed antenna is calculated by using a cavity model. The 5-parameters and radiation patterns of the antenna are measured. A power amplifier and a low noise amplifier are designed and integrated with antenna to make a transceiver, which has about 13dB transmitting gain and about 8㏈ receiving gain.
