The boiler tubes and steam Pipes operating both at high temperature and pressure for a long period of time in a power plant are degraded by creep because of internal pressure. So, the remaining life of a component is evaluated by the creep rupture strength. Although the conventional method to evaluate the creep damage is widely used, it has some disadvantages such as requires large size specimen and long employed to evaluate the correlation between fracture toughness and evaluation time. Recently, new method so called "small lunch test' is used to evaluate degradation of creep. In this study, a conventional creep test and a small punch test are conducted using 2.25Cr-1Mo steel which is mainly used for the boiler tubes and steam pipes in power plant. The creep life, approximately 1,500 hrs, is determined by conventional method under a severe condition then specimens for a small Punch test are obtained after certain time intervals such as 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 of final rupture time, respectively.

In recent years, according to the development of construction technique, the constructions of longer span bridges, taller buildings, deeper offshore structures, and other megastructures are calling for construction materials with increasingly improve properties. So, the demand for high-strength concrete(HSC) have been increased and many new structures have been built using HSC with the compressive strength about 100MPa. However, it is well-known that as the strength of concrete increases, concrete becomes more brittle. Recent studies, however, shown that the brittleness of HSC can be improved by adding some fibers to the concrete. Especially steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC) can be used in this case. Many research works have shown that SFRC results in better crack and deflection control, higher shear strength, improved fatigue performance, increased impact strength, reformed flexural strength, advanced fracture toughness and enhanced postcracking resistance. So, this is a study on the long-term response of SFRC applied to HPC about 40MPa. Therefore, in this study, the test results of twenty-six high-strength concrete specimens and steel fiber-reinforced concrete specimens, with steel fiber content of 1 $\%$ by volume were presented. And the results are analyzed by using of the factors of time, mix properties, humidity/temperature, and loading conditions.
Fe and Fe-Mo binder were used to produce TiB2 based cermet by a pressureless sintering. The densification behaviour of TiB2-Fe-Mo cermet during liquid-phase sintering in argon was studied in relation to binder phase charactertics. The effects of Mo addition and sintering condition on the sintering behaviour and mechanical properties were also investigated. TiB2-based cermets with Fe-Mo binder composition showed a better sinterability than the cermets with only Fe binder. In TiB2-Fe-Mo cermet higher densities in the wide temperature range were obtained and also fully densified sintered cermet were obtained at 1873K The enhancement in the densification phenomenon of TiB2-Fe-Mo system can be explained by improved liquid phase wettability associated with the roles of Mo components as solute atoms. When Fe-Mo binders were used cermets with a finer grain size and enhanced mechanical properties wereproduced and new phases such as Fe2B and Mo2FeB2 were observed in the sintered cermet. The highest bending strength was obtained from the 20vol% Fe-Mo cermet and these hardness-fracture toughness combination in the wide binder compositions is better than that of TiB2-Fe cermet. In order to improve mechanical properties microstructure control with high purity powders is desirable because high purity powders prevent the formation of Fe2B and Mo2FeB2 phase which comsume the ductile binder phase.
Dense $5Cu_{0.6}Fe_{0.4}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ composite was consolidated from mechanically synthesized powders by high frequency induction heating method within 2 min. Consolidation was accomplished under the combined effects of a induced current and mechanical pressure. Dense $5Cu_{0.6}Fe_{0.4}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ with relative density of up to 95% was produced under simultaneous application of a 80 MPa pressure and the pulsed current. Fracture toughness and hardness of the composite are $7.6MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$ and $844kg/mm^{2}$ respectively.

Process conditions for the impregnation of polycarbosilane preceramic polymer into SiC-based composites were investigated. Two kinds of preceramic polymer (PCP) was impregnated into SiC-fiber fabrics with different solvents of n-hexane and divinylbenzene (DVB). Both microstructural observations and mechanical tests were conducted to evaluate the impregnation. The matrix phases were particulated in the case of hexane solvents. Apparent relative density of the matrix was about 78.8%. The density of matrix was increased to about 96.1-98.8% when the DVB was used; however, brittle fracture was observed during a bending test. The modulus of toughness was less than $0.74J/m^3$. The fabric impregnated with a mixed PCP-dissolved solution showed intermediate characteristics with relative high density of filling (apparent density of ~96.1%) as well as proper bending behavior. The modulus of toughness was increased to about $5.31J/m^3$. The composites developed by changing the precursor and solvent suggested the possibility of fabricating SiCf/SiC composites without a fiber to matrix interphase coating.
An issue of major concern in the utilization of laminated composites based epoxy resin is associated with the occurrence of delaminations or interlaminar cracks, which may be related to manufacturing defects or are induced in service by low-velocity impacts. A strong interfacial filament/brittle epoxy resin bonding can, however, be combined with the high fracture toughness of weak interfacial bonding, when the filaments are arranged to have alternate sections of shear stress. To improve this drawback of the epoxy resin, UV-thermal dual curable resin were developed. This paper presents UV-thermal dual curable resin which were prepared using epoxy acrylate oligomer, photoinitiators, a thermal-curing agent and thermoset epoxy resin. The UV curing behaviors and characteristics of UV-thermal dual curable epoxy resin were investigated using Photo-DSC, DMA and FTIR-ATR spectroscopy. The mechanical properties of UV-thermal dual curable epoxy resin impregnated CF prepreg by UV curable resin content were measured with Tensile, Flextural, ILSS and Sharpy impact test. The obtained results showed that UV curable resin content improves the epoxy toughness.

In this study, microstructural investigation was conducted on the separation phenomenon occurring during Charpy impact tests of API X80 linepipe steels. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of microstructural phases present in the API X80 steels such as acicular ferrite, bainite, and hard secondary phases. Detailed microstructural analysis of fractured impact specimens showed that highly elongated bainite worked as prior initiation sites for separations, and that the number and length of separations increased with increasing volume fraction of bainite. In the steels having high work hardenability, tearing-shaped separations were found because the hammer-impacted region was seriously hardened during the impact test, which led to the reduction in the impact toughness. As the test temperature decreased, the tendency of separations increased, but separations were not observed when the cleavage fracture prevailed at very low temperatures. Thus, the minimization of the formation of bainite and secondary phases in the steels would be beneficial for preventing or minimizing separations because separations deteriorated low-temperature impact toughness.

Ball shear test was performed by test variables such as loading speed and annealing time in order to investigate the effect of surface finishes on the bonding strength of Sn-1.2Ag-0.7Cu-0.4In Pb-free solder. The shear strength increased and the ductility decreased with increasing shear speed. With increasing shear speed, the electroless nickel immersion gold (ENIG) finish showed dominant brittle fracture mode, while organic solderability preservative (OSP) finish showed pad open fracture mode. The shear strength and toughness for both surface finishes decreased with increasing annealing time under the high-speed shear test of 500 mm/s. Typically, the thickness of intermetallic compound increased with increasing annealing time, which means that exposure of brittle fracture became much easier. With increasing annealing time, the both ENIG and OSP finishes exhibited the pad open fracture mode. Overall, ENIG finish showed higher shear strength rather than OSP finish due to its superior barrier stability.
Recent advances of technology in materials science have made it easy to respond to user's needs on high performance steel in civil and building structures. The high-performance and high-strength steel are required for large scale structure and high-rise building to have high-strength, high fracture toughness and better weldability etc. Therefore development of 600MPa class steel for mega structure is necessary. high strength steels, however, may have mechanical properties that are significantly different from those of the conventional steels. The application of high-strength steels to building structures should be reviewed as to whether inelastic behavior equivalent to that of conventional steels can be attained or not. This study researched the structural behavior of high strength circular tubes compression and under flexure. Three column tests and three flexural tests were carried out. The suitability of existing design formulae(KBC 2009) and the structural behavior were investigated through these columns and beams with various types.
Recently, high-entropy carbides have attracted considerable attention owing to their excellent physical and chemical properties such as high hardness, fracture toughness, and conductivity. However, as an emerging class of novel materials, the synthesis methods, performance, and applications of high-entropy carbides have ample scope for further development. In this study, equiatomic (Hf-Ti-Ta-Zr-Nb)C high-entropy carbide powders have been prepared by an ultrahigh-energy ball-milling (UHEBM) process with different milling times (1, 5, 15, 30, and 60 min). Further, their refinement behavior and high-entropy synthesis potential have been investigated. With an increase in the milling time, the particle size rapidly reduces (under sub-micrometer size) and homogeneous mixing of the prepared powder is observed. The distortions in the crystal lattice, which occur as a result of the refinement process and the multicomponent effect, are found to improve the sintering, thereby notably enhancing the formation of a single-phase solid solution (high-entropy). Herein, we present a procedure for the bulk synthesis of highly pure, dense, and uniform FCC single-phase (Fm3m crystal structure) (Hf-Ti-Ta-Zr-Nb)C high-entropy carbide using a milling time of 60 min and a sintering temperature of 1,600℃.
