  • A weighted self-tuning robust regression estimator (WSTE) has the high breakdown point for estimating regression parameters such as other well known high breakdown estimators. In this paper, we propose to obtain standard quantities like confidence intervals, and it is found to be superior to the other high breakdown regression estimators when a sample is contaminated

  • This paper deals with a robust regression estimator. We propose an efficient one-step GM-estimator, which has a bounded influence function and a high breakdown point. The main idea of this paper is to use the Mallows-type weights which depend on both the predictor variables and the residuals from a high breakdown initial estimator. The proposed weighting scheme severely downweights the bad leverage points and slightly downweights the good leverage points. Under some regularity conditions, we compute the finite-sample breakdown point and prove the asymptotic normality. Some simulation results and a numerical example are also presented.

  • In this paper we propose a robust Wald-type test which is based on an efficient Mallows-type one-step GM-estimator. The proposed estimator based on the weight function of Song, Park and Nam (1996) has a bounded influence function and a high breakdown point. Under some regularity conditions, we compute the finite-sample breakdown point, and drive asymptotic normality of the proposed estimator. The level and power breakdown points, influence function and asymptotic distribution of the proposed test statistic are main points of this paper. To compare the performance of the proposed test with other tests, we perform some Monte Carlo simulations.

  • We introduce a high breakdown point estimator referred to as data partitioning robust regression estimator (DPR). Since the DPR is obtained by partitioning observations into a finite number of subsets, it has no computational problem unlike the previous robust regression estimators. Empirical and extensive simulation studies show that the DPR is superior to the previous robust estimators. This is much so in large samples.

  • In this paper we propose an efficient scoring type one-step GM-estimator, which has a bounded influence function and a high break-down point. The main point of the estimator is in the weighting scheme of the GM-estimator. The weight function we used depends on both leverage points and residuals So we construct an estimator which does not downweight good leverage points Unider some regularity conditions, we compute the finite-sample breakdown point and prove asymptotic normality Some simulation results are also presented.

  • Electrical properties of liquid nitrogen ($LN_2$) and gaseous nitrogen($GN_2$) have become of great interest again since the discovery of high temperature superconductors . It is very important from a point of superconducting apparatus protection to elucidate breakdown characteristics in $LN_2$ and $GN_2$ at atmospheric and pressurized conditions Therefore. this paper studies the effect of pressure on the breakdown characteristics in $LN_2$ and $GN_2$. Af high voltage is applied to electrode system with uniform and non-unform field in various gap length. And Breakdown voltages of $LN_2$ and $GN_2$ are investigated under AC voltage for Pressure ranging from 0 and 0.5 MPa. This research presented basis information of electrical insulation design for liquid nitrogen immersed HTS power apparatus.

  • The reduction in the breakdown field strength due to electrode surface roughness was calculated by applying the streamer breakdown criterion and the surface roughness factor, and measurements of static breakdown voltage for a gap with an artificial protrusion were made under the uniform field at pressures up to 4 bar in pressurized $SF_{6}$. The effect of polarity of highly stressed electrode on the breakdown field strength was also investigated. The measurements have shown that the measured breakdown levels for a protrusion located on the cathode agree with those calculated and the values measured with an identical anode protrusion are substantially higher and more scattered. This may be explained if it assumed that a high rate of production of initiatory electrons is maintained at the tip of a cathode protrusion by field emission. In practical point of view, the breakdown levels in pressurized $SF_{6}$ can be bereliably estimated from the values calculated.

  • To assess the insulation deterioration of stator windings, diagnostic and AC breakdown tests were performed on the eleven high voltage (HV) motors rated at 6kV. After completing the diagnostic tests, the AC overvoltage test was performed by gradually increasing the voltage applied to the stator windings until electrical insulation failure occurred, to obtain the breakdown voltage. Stator winding of motors 1, 3, and 8 failed at above rated voltage at 14 kV, 13.8kV, and 16.4kV, respectively. The breakdown voltage of three motors was higher than expected for good quality windings in 6kV motors. Based on deterioration evaluation criteria, the stator winding insulation of eleven HV motors are confirmed to be in good condition. The turning point of the current, $P_{i2}$, in the AC current vs. voltage characteristics occurred between 5kV and 6kV, and the breakdown voltage was low between 13.8kV and 16.4kV. There was a strong correlation between the breakdown voltage and various electrical characteristics in diagnostic tests including Pi2.

  • In the linear regression model $y_{i}$ = .alpha. $x_{i}$ $^{T}$ .beta. + .epsilon.$_{i}$ , i = 1,2,...,n, the weighted pairwise absolute deviation (WPAD) estimator was defined by minimizing the dispersion function D (.beta.) = .sum..sum.$_{{i $w_{{ij}}$$\mid$ $r_{j}$ (.beta.) $r_{i}$ (.beta.)$\mid$, where $r_{i}$ (.beta.)'s are residuals and $w_{{ij}}$'s are weights. This estimator can achive bounded total influence with positive breakdown by choice of weights $w_{{ij}}$. In this paper, we consider a more general type of dispersion function than that of D(.beta.) and propose a pairwise GM-estimator based on the dispersion function. Under some regularity conditions, the proposed estimator has a bounded influence function, a high breakdown point, and asymptotically a normal distribution. Results of a small-sample Monte Carlo study are also presented. presented.

  • This paper describes underwater discharge phenomena which are less studied than gas, solid and dielectric liquid. Since discharge phenomena were affected by various factors, we investigated the effect of water resistivity in point-plane gap by impulse voltage. In discharge photograph, it is hard to discover the streamer development in positive polarity at high reisistivity. On the other hand, the streamer originated at the tip of rod and developed toward the plane with increasing voltage. It is found that the breakdown voltage of both polarities in lower resistivity are lower than that of high resistivity. High current flowing in lower resistivity before the breakdown induce more streamer and enhance the probability of breakdown.
