A potential transformer(PT) has ratio error and phase angle error. Precise measurement of the errors of PT can be achieved using high voltage capacitance bridge, high voltage capacitor and low voltage capacitor. The uncertainty for this method is evaluated and found to be $20{\times}10^{-6}$ in both ratio error and phase angle error. The values measured for PT using the method are well consistent with the those measured for same PT in NMIA(National Measurement Institute of Australia) within the corresponding uncertainty.
Precise absolute measurement of the errors in a potential transformer (PT) can be achieved using high voltage capacitance bridge (HVCB) and capacitive divider. The uncertainty in a PT measurement using the HVCB system was evaluated by considering the overall factors affecting during the calibration of a PT. The expanded uncertainties are found to be not more than $30{\times}10^{-6}$ for ratio and $30{\mu}rad$ for phase up to the primary voltage of $V_p=22kV$. For same PTs, the measured errors in KRISS (Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science) using our bridge are well coincide with those in NMIA (National Measurement Institute of Australia) and PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt) within the corresponding uncertainties.

Theoretical and graphical analysis of pull-in-voltage and figure of merit for a fixed-fixed capacitive Micro Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) switch is presented in this paper. MEMS switch consists of a thin electrode called bridge suspended over a central line and both ends of the bridge are fixed at the ground planes of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) structure. A thin layer of dielectric material is deposited between the bridge and centre conductor to avoid stiction and provide low impedance path between the electrodes. When an actuation voltage is applied between the electrodes, the metal bridge acquires pull in effect as it crosses one third of distance between them. In this study, we describe behavior of pull-in voltage and figure of merit (or capacitance ratio) of capacitive MEMS switch for five different dielectric materials. The effects of dielectric thicknesses are also considered to calculate the values of pull-in-voltage and capacitance ratio. This work shows that a reduced pull-in-voltage with increase in capacitance ratio can be achieved by using dielectric material of high dielectric constant above the central line of CPW.
Conventionally, in order to reduce the ac components of the dc-link capacitors of the two-level Half-Bridge Voltage Source Inverter (HB-VSI), high dc-link capacitances are required. This necessitates the employment of short-lifetime and bulky electrolytic capacitors. In this paper, an analysis for the performance of low dc-link capacitances-based HB-VSI is presented to elucidate its ability to generate an enhanced fundamental output voltage magnitude without increasing the voltage rating of the involved switches. This feature is constrained by the load displacement factor. The introduced enhancement is due to the ac components of the capacitors' voltages. The presented approach can be employed for multi-phase systems through using multi single-phase HB-VSI(s). Mathematical analysis of the proposed approach is presented in this paper. To ensure a successful operation of the proposed approach, a closed loop current controller is examined. An expression for the critical dc-link capacitance, which is the lowest dc-link capacitance that can be employed for unipolar capacitors' voltages, is derived. Finally, simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the proposed claims.
We established a system to evaluate the ratio error and phase angle error of electronic voltage transformer using high voltage capacitance bridge and standard capacitors. The uncertainty of evaluation system is about 0.005% in ratio error and 1.5 min in phase angel error.

This study analyzes the effects of the parasitic capacitance of the SiC MOSFET used in the Dual Active Bridge ( DAB) converter and proposes a method for calculating the leakage inductance of the transformer. The DAB converter employs high-frequency switching to achieve high efficiency, high power density, and reliability. MOSFETs possess parasitic capacitance, which induces resonance with the leakage inductance of the transformer during switching operations, resulting in a voltage change delay. This paper discusses the effect of the delay of voltage changes on the DAB converter output and proposes a method to calculate the delay time. This method aims to equalize the delay time to minimize this effect and enhance the accuracy of the leakage inductance calculation of the transformer. The proposed method is validated through experiments and simulations.
Capacitive power transfer has an advantage in the simplicity of the energy link structure. So, the conventional phase -shift full bridge sometime is not always the best choice because of its complexity and high cost. On the other hand, the link capacitance is usually very low and requires high-frequency operation, but, the series resonant converter loses zero-voltage switching feature in the light load condition, which makes the switching loss high especially in CPT system. The paper proposes a new low-cost topology based on asymmetric half-bridge to achieve simplicity as well as wide zero voltage switching range. The design procedure is presented, and circuit operations are analyzed and verified by simulation.

We propose a high voltage dc-dc converter for a CW (continuous wave) $CO_2$ laser system using a current resonant half-bridge inverter and a Cockcroft-Walton circuit. This high voltage power supply includes a 2-stage voltage multiplier driven by a regulated half-bridge series resonant inverter. The inverter drives a step-up transformer and the secondary transformer is applied to the voltage multiplier. It is highly efficient because of the reduced amount of switching losses by virtue of the current resonant half-bridge inverter, and also due to the small size, low parasitic capacitance in the transformer stage owing to the low number of winding turns of the step up secondary transformer combined with the Cockroft-Walton circuit. We obtained a maximum laser output power of 44 W and a maximum system efficiency of over 16%.
There is an increasing demand for efficient high power/weight auxiliary power supplies for use on high speed traction application. Many new conversion techniques have been proposed to reduce the voltage and current stress of switching components, and the switching losses in the traditional pulse width modulation(PWM) converter. Especially, the phase shift full bridge zero voltage switching PWM techniques are thought most desirable for many applications because this topology permits all switching devices to operate under zero voltage switching(ZVS) by using circuit parasitic components such as leakage inductance of high frequency transformer and power device junction capacitance. The proposed topology is found to have higher efficiency than conventional soft-switching converter. Also it is easily applicable to phase shift full bridge converter by applying an energy recovery snubber consisted of fast recovery diodes and capacitors.
The performance of an isolated high voltage full bridge converter is improved using a voltage doubler. In a conventional high voltage full bridge converter, the diode of the transformer secondary voltage undergoes a voltage spike due to the leakage inductance of the transformer and the resonance occurring with the parasitic capacitance of the diode. In addition, in the phase shift control, conduction loss largely increases from the freewheeling mode because of the circulating current. The efficiency of the converter is thus reduced. However, in the proposed converter, the high voltage dual converter consists of a voltage doubler because the circulating current of the converter is reduced to increase efficiency. On the other hand, in the proposed converter, an input current is distributed when using parallel input / serial output and the output voltage can be doubled. However, the voltages in the 2 serial DC links might be unbalanced due to line impedance, passive and active components impedance, and sensor error. Considering these problems, DC injection is performed due to the complementary operations of half bridge inverters as well as the disadvantage of the unbalance in the DC link. Therefore, the serial output of the converter needs to control the balance of the algorithm. In this paper, the performance of the conventional converter is improved and a balance control algorithm is proposed for the proposed converter. Also, the system of the 1.5[kW] PCS is verified through an experiment examining the operation and stability.
