The purpose of this study were to compare school uniforms made in major and minor companies. Especially, purchasing motives, fitting satisfaction, and mending behaviors of school uniform were compared by middle and high school students. The most evident difference was exhibited in purchasing motive. Brand preference was the most important criterion in purchasing motive from a major company, while good pricing was the most important criterion in purchasing motive from a minor company. Apart from purchasing motive, purchasing behaviors such as fitting satisfaction, mending and mended part of school uniforms were not significantly different in relation to sex, grade, and type of company. These results indicate that major companies should consider lowering their prices and also adopt a high quality strategy for school uniform production. Minor companies need to identify areas of differentiation between themselves and larger companies, and produce niche market products that are for appealing to teenagers with a tendency to orient towards brands instead of quality. Furthermore, mature teenagers as consumers of school uniforms are receptive towards competition for reasonable price.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among the variables of attitudes toward school uniform, three aspects of clothing behavior, self-concept, and selected behaviors. Instruments used to test the hypotheses were 12 items selected from the Behavior Test by Laubach, The Perceptual Orientation Scale by Choi, 14 items to assess the attitudes toward school uniform, and 21 modified items to evaluate conformity, fashion, and modesty in clothing. The questionnaires were completed by 484 2nd grade junior and senior high school girls in Seoul. Statistical analysis was performed using the correlation coefficient, $x^2$-tests, and t-tests. The findings could be summarized as follows: 1) Perceptual Orientation and Behavioral Orientation were not significantly related to attitudes toward school uniform. 2) Perceptual Orientation and Behavioral Orientation were negatively related to clothing conformity, 3) Attitudes toward school uniform and clothing behavior were partially different by the grade level and the type of school. 4) Fashion was positively related to conformity, but negatively related to modesty in clothing.
The purpose of this study was conducted to provide basic information on developing highschool-uniform pants with more suitable fit. To carry out this study, questionnaires were administered to 187 students in high schools in Gwangju. The collected data were analyzed with frequencies statistics, t-test, ANOVA using the SPSS WIN 18.0. The results are as follows; As results of research on highschool-uniform regulation, 88% of the highschool in Gwangju allowed their students to wear school uniform pants. As results of investigation on the school-uniform pants sizing system of manufacturing firm, it was found that there's a trend towards increasing a large size with the change body type. The size labelling for school uniform pants was waist circumference-stature. There were differences in pants sizes according to the manufacturing firm and body measurements such as hip circumference, in seam length, pants length. As results of survey on wearing conditions, the selection of school uniform pants has increased in winter season. The most important body measurement in the choice of purchase was thigh circumference. In fit of uniform pants, respondents answered that waist circumference and hip circumference became smaller according to the physical growth.

The objective of this study was to develop a school uniform sizing system with high coverage rate for middle school boys, who are in the stage of rapid growth, by identifying problems in existing school uniform sizing systems through surveys of students and uniform manufacturing companies, and analyzing juveniles' physical sizes. For this purpose. the study conducted a survey about how middle school boys choose their uniform sizes, and what complaints they have on the size of the uniforms. In addition, it was investigated what is the current state of uniform manufacturing and sizing systems through a survey of uniform companies, and the study identified problems in the size of school uniforms by comparing physical sizes of juveniles' aged 14 to 16 with the sizing systems of the companies and KS standards in 1997. Juveniles' physical data was a part of the material of the national anthropometric data in 1997. Using the two-way distribution of juveniles' height-bust girth and height-waist girth, this study established the sizing system by increasing the number of sizes for the short interval where juveniles' physical sizes are densely distributed whereas limiting the number of sizes for the long interval where juveniles' physical sizes are rarely distributed, considering the difference between companies' standard and KS' standard.

The purpose of the research is to investigate the payment for clothing and clothing management behavior of the elementary school student children, and to study if there is any specific preference toward clothing according to whether or not they wear school uniform. 403 mothers of two elementary school students in Taegu were selected for this study. 1. There is no difference in the times of purchasing clothing between uniform group and nonuniform group. 2. Compared with their money earning, uniform wearing group more money in their clothing purchasing nonuniform group paid less money regardless of their earning. 3. There is a significant of laundry practices in nonuniform group compared with uniform group. 4. According to the inquiry of the clothing concept between uniform group and nonuniform group, uniform group showed higher satisfaction with their uniform than nonuniform group with their nonuniform. 5. Uniform group showed high positive view on the uniform, and both groups showed partial positive view on the nonuniform. There was a positive correlation among clothing payment, clothing management behavior, and clothing dynamics of both groups.
This research is aimed at analyzing the image and preference of the school uniform of a girls' high school located in Ulsan. The analysis of 396 data were measured by the frequency, the t-test through SPSS 12.0. The results show that first, in the image, they associated a cold color, short v zone, necktie with mannish image, a coordination between boxy jacket and flared skirt or silhouette mixture of mannish image and feminie image with unfashionable. Second, sensibility images that they prefers differed significantly in mature, soft, and practical images between different academic spheres, and in terms of refined image between different grades. Third, in preference of school uniform wearing, photo 9 showed the significance by groups and photo 6 showed it by grade. As a result of uniform design preference analysis, significant differences were by academic shown on photo 2 in total harmony and color combination, on photo 3 in details, on photo 7 in lower garment design, on photo 8 in upper garment design, on photo 9 in total harmony, upper garment design, lower garment design, color combination and details. Meanwhile, photo 1 showed the significance by grade in color combination, photo 4 in total harmony and upper garment design, photo 7 in upper garment design, respectively. Through this study, we could assume schoolgirls' attitude toward school uniform currently worn by them and it is considered to be used for resolving diverse problems which have been raised when school uniform design is being planned to satisfy students' desires.

The purpose of this study is to provide the improvement idea for an school uniform styling that better satisfies female high school students' changing demands, through evaluating images differences according to design variation in school uniforms. This study was carried out with a between-subject design by using the stimulant materials of school uniform design and image assessment scale. The stimulant materials used for this study were 27 designs with blazer/skirt ensemble and 21 designs with vest/skirt ensemble. The survey materials were collected through a questionnaire from a total of 192 female high school students living in Gyeongsangnam-do. As a result of analyses on a image of blazer/skirt ensembles, 4 factors were extracted such as neatness, uniqueness, activeness, and attractiveness. Blazer was the only variables that exerted significant effects on neatness, uniqueness, and attractiveness. As a result of analyses on a image of vest/skirt ensembles, 4 factors were extracted such as attractiveness, neatness, uniqueness, and activeness. Skirt was the only variables that exerted significant effects on attractiveness, neatness, and uniqueness. Neat image was perceived to be high in ensembles of standard blazer/standard collar/horizontal-seam skirt, standard vest/skirt with horizontal color combination, and buttons-down vest/horizontal-seam skirt. Unique image was perceived to be high in ensembles of blazer with bindings/standard collar/solid skirt, and vest with pockets/skirt with vertical bindings. Also, active image was perceived to be high in ensembles of vest with pockets/skirt with vertical bindings, and buttons-down vest/skirt with vertical bindings. Attractive image was perceived to be high in ensembles of blazer with bindings/peaked lapel/skirt with vertical bindings, and standard vest/horizontal-seam skirt. In conclusion, this study reveals that different items and pieces of school uniforms can be combined in many different ways to create quite diverse looks. Thus, this study provides important basic data for research on teenagers' fashion and clothing.
This study was conducted to provide basic information on developing highschool-uniform pants with more suitable fit and to suggest a sizing system for highschool girls' uniform pants that adequately reflects their body figures. To understand the features of high school girls' lower body type, the body measurement values of 833 girls from 16~18 years of age based on Size Korea(2010) were analyzed statistically. For the classification of lower body type for high school girls, a factor analysis and cluster analysis were conducted. The collected data were processed with the programs SPSS 18.0 for windows. The results in this study are follows: The lower body types for high school girls were divided into 3 groups. Body Type A is average stature but the biggest circumference, Type B is the biggest stature and the medium body type, Type C is the smallest stature and skeleton structure. KS size intervals were used for frequency distribution of height and waist for the lower body. Sizing system of the uniform company and frequency distribution of sizes were compared. Using the two-way distribution of highschool girls' waist circumference and hip circumference, sizing system considering body type distribution and high frequency distribution section of sizes was suggested. This study established new sizing system depending on lower body fixed as 26 number of sizes. The most suitable standard is fixed as 12 number of sizes ; 64-88, 64-91, 67-88, 67-91, 67-94, 70-91, 70-94, 70-97, 73-94, 73-97, 76-97, 76-100. The coverage is also calculated. And the coverage of new standard was 63.5%. The continuous study on the uniform pants sizing system of the obesity types is required.
Most of the students in middle and high schools today wear school uniforms. The school uniform is the most important and intimate clothes in adolescences and makes students feel a sense of group identity and belonging, and lessen the difference of economical capabilities. However levels of satisfaction is low because school uniforms do not express their individualities and do not keep up with the fashion. In this paper, we studied the partial liberalization of schools uniforms to raise the levels of satisfaction. The subjects were 378 male and female students from middle schools and high school in Ulsan, and a questionnaire was sent out. The survey was conducted in February 2007, and frequency analysis, ${\chi}^2$-analysis, and t-test were used for the analysis of the data. The results are as follows: The students recognized the partial liberalization of the dress code as loosening of the regulation As the result of analysis on attitudes toward the partial liberalization of the dress code, most of the students support the introduction of the plan. They chose a shirt as the most appropriate item and length as the best extent in liberalization. Among the elements of school uniform required to be unified, they selected a jacket and design as the item and extent, respectively. Through this study, we came to know the demands of students for school uniform and confirmed the possibility of the partial liberalization of the dress code as an improvement of consumer-oriented school uniform. In the future, it seems that their desires would be accepted and reflected in the design and school uniforms would be manufactured from the view point of consumer.
The purpose of this study was to examine how high school girl students used their school uniforms and what types of ornaments they preferred, in an effort to identify the image of school uniform. The result of this study were as follow: First, 52.6 percent of the students investigated altered their uniforms, and as fur the major alteration style, revival one to take them in to be well-fitting was dominant. But concerning skirts, hip-hop style was also found. The students viewed ornaments more favorably, as the larger group of the students perceived that it was necessary to restrict the school-uniform alteration yet not to control ornaments. Concerning how much they wore school uniforms, most of them continued to wear them outside school in many cases. Specifically, those who engaged in pastime or went shopping wearing school uniforms enjoyed altering them, and they also enjoyed using ornaments that weren't allowed by the school dress code. Second, as to school-uniform image, elegant image was most preferred, followed by practical, innocent and fashion-conscious ones. They were most preferred with its elegant image. Third, as to ornaments image, they were most preferred with its positive image.
