  • In this paper, we proposed quad variable rates ADPCM coding method and its implementation on C6000 DSP, which is modified from the standard ADPCM of ITU G.726 for speech quality improvement considering the environmental noise Four coding rates, 16Kbps, 24Kbps, 32Kbps and 40Kbps are used for speech window samples and the rate decision threshold is decided by the environmental noise level. The object of the proposed method is to reduce the coding rate while retaining the speech quality and the speech quality is considerably close to 40Kbps single rate coder with the coding rate close to 16Kbps single rate coder under the environmental noise. The environmental noise level affects the coding rate and the noise level is calculated per every speech window samples. At high noise level, more samples are coded at higher rates to enhance the quality, but at low noise level, only the big speech signals are coded at higher rates and more speech samples are coded at lower coding rates to reduce the coding rates. The influence of the noise on tile speech signal is considerably high for small signals and the small signal has the higher ZCR (zero crossing rate). The method is simulated in PC and to be implemented on C6000 floating point DSP board in real time operations.

  • The secretory efficiency of recombinant xylanase xynB from yeast Pichia pastoris between the ${\alpha}$-factor preprosequence and a classical mammalian signal peptide derived from bovine ${\beta}$-casein was compared. The results showed that although the bovine ${\beta}$-casein signal peptide could direct high-level secretion of recombinant xylanase, it was relatively less efficient than the ${\alpha}$-factor preprosequence. In contrast, the bovine ${\beta}$-casein signal peptide caused remarkably more recombinant xylanase trapped intracellularly. Real-time RT-PCR analysis indicated that the difference in the secretory level between the two signal sequences was not due to the difference in the transcriptional efficiency.

  • I developed an enhanced correction method for Ricean bias which occurs in linear polarization measurement. Two known methods for Ricean bias correction are reviewed. In low signal-to-noise area, the method based on the mode of the equation gives better representation of the fractional polarization. But a caution should be given that the accurate estimation of noise level, i.e. ${\sigma}$ of the polarized flux, is important. The maximum likelihood method is better choice for high signal-to-noise area. I suggest a hybrid method which uses the mode of the equation at the low signal-to-noise area and takes the maximum likelihood method at the high signal-to-noise area. A modified correction coefficient for the mode solution is proposed. The impact on the depolarization measure analysis is discussed.

  • In the military communication environment, it is very difficult to obtain clear voice signal due to the high level noise. The purpose of this study is to find out the best body spot to get the vocal chords signal by measuring the skin or the bone conducting vibrations of different body positions within the noise environment. Based on the experimental study, it was found out that the measurement of sound signal within the ear is the best way to get the voice which comes from the vocal chords and this method can prevent the interruption of noise. This study will give the effective voice communication method in the high noise environment and be applicable to military purpose.

  • Level meters are non-invasively capable of measuring the level of the medium, and a growing variety of level meters are being used in the industry in connection with safety and maintenance. The level meter can be measured according to various kinds of medium such as solid medium such as coal, flour, rice and liquid medium such as water and petroleum. In order to reduce the error depending on the medium, the measurement using the Doppler Effect can compensate the measurement error, However, the number of signal processing steps is increased, the operation speed is further increased, the hardware complexity increases, and a high cost structure is required. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the signal processing operation structure of the remote measurement level meter to reduce the amount of computation and the resource usage of the required FPGA.

  • Oversampling modulators based on high-order sigma-delta modulation provide an effective means of achieving high-resolution A/D conversion in a VLSI technology. Because high-order noise shaping great]y reduces the quantization noise in the signal band. This paper introduces a third-order cascaded sigma-delta modulator that is stable for large input level. Modulator was simulated 3.3V single power supply voltage in 0.65$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology. It achieves 80㏈ SNR for a 20㎑ input signal bandwidth. A lock frequency is 3㎒ that is 80 oversampling ratio.

  • In terms of productivity, the speed of machining process has been increasing in most of engineering part. But the tapping process does not reach at enough level compared with other machining processes because of its complicate cutting mechanism. In the high speed tapping process, the one of important elements is tool monitoring system to prevent tool breakage. This paper describes tool monitoring system by acoustic emission(AE) in the tapping process. We used 2 types of AE sensors in this test. The one is commercial sensor which is used in other machining monitoring system like polishing and the other is a self-fabricated sensor for this test. In this test we purpose to find out the frequency of AE signal in tapping process and verify the possibility of applying AE sensor in in-process tapping monitoring system. Also grasp of characteristic of tapping process by AE signal is handled.

  • The properties of unseen high-redshift sources (and sinks) are encoded in the 3D structure of the cosmic 21-cm signal. Here I introduce a flexible parametrization for high-z galaxies' properties, including their star formation rates, ionizing escape fraction and their evolution with the mass of the host dark matter halos. With this parametrization, I self-consistently calculate the corresponding 21-cm signal during reionization and the cosmic dawn. Using a Monte Carlo Markov Chain sampler of 3D simulations, 21CMMC, I demonstrate how combining high-z luminosity functions with a mock 21-cm signal can break degeneracies, resulting in ~ percent level constraints on early universe astrophysics.

  • Noise reduction the noise of a high precision multi-stage gearbox applied at the industrial robot is investigated by experiment such as the modal test and the signal analysis. The signal analysis performed with the waterfall plot representing the power spectrum as a function of the rotating speed. An eccentric load is installed at the gearbox in order to organize similar condition used in the industrial robot. Exciting sources are found out by the waterfall plot, and then the main factor to make the noise is distinguish. For the low-noise gearbox, the gear design parameter is modified and this gearbox is experimented in the same procedure. The results of the test show the noise level of gearbox reduced.

  • LLC resonant DC-DC converter is widely used in many kinds of applications such as battery energy storage systems, wireless power transfer and high voltage power supply. It is because of characteristics like high efficiency, power density, isolation, wide power level and stability enhancement at high switching frequency. Small signal modeling helps to design controller of the converter by approximating the behavior of nonlinear system with linear state equations. This paper presents comparison between small signal modeling analysis and experimental results of LLC resonant converter.
