MAO (micro-arc oxidation) is an eco-friendly convenient and effective technology to deposit high-quality oxide coatings on the surfaces of Ti, Al, Mg and their alloys. The roles of the electrolyte concentration and relative cathode electrode area sizes in the grown oxide film during titanium MAO were investigated. The higher the concentration of the electrolyte, the lower the $R_{total}A$ value. The oxide film produced by the lower concentration of the electrolyte is thinner and less uniform than the film by the higher concentration, which is thick and porous. The cathode area size must be bigger than the anode area size in order to minimize the voltage drop across the cathode. The ratio of the cathode area size to the anode area size must be bigger than 8. Otherwise, the cathode will be another source for voltage drop, which is detrimental to and slows down the oxide growth.

To provide a design direction for high efficiency thermoelectric module(TEM) dehumidifiers, the effects of design factors of TEM dehumidifiers on dehumidification energy efficiency and performance were numerically investigated. The design factors considered in this study are the TEM capacity, the performance of heat exchangers on the heating and cooling surfaces of the TEM. The higher capacity of the TEM results the higher dehumidification energy efficiency and performance at some operating voltage. The enhanced performance of the heat exchanger on heating surface increased the dehumidification energy efficiency and performance at all the operating voltage. The enhanced performance of the heat exchanger on cooling surface decreased the dehumidification energy efficiency and performance at all operating voltage.

The evolution of surface roughness and morphology in epitaxial Si and $Si_{0.7}Ge{0.3}$ alloys grown by UHV opm-beam sputter deposition onto nominally-singular, [100]-, and [110]-mi-scut Si(001) was investigated by stomic force microscopy and trasmission electron microscopy. The evolution of surface roughness of epitaxial Si films grown at $300^{\circ}C$ is inconsistent with conventional scaling and hyperscaling laws for kineti roughening. Unstable growth leading to the formation of mounds separated by a well-defined length scale is observed on all substrates. Contraty to previous high-temperature growth results, the presence of steps during deposition at $300^{\circ}C$ increases the tendency toward unstable growth resulting in a much earlier development of mound structures and larger surface roughnesses on vicival substrates. Strain-induced surface roughening was found to dominate in $Si_{0.7}Ge{0.3}$ alloys grown on singular Si(001) substrates at $T_S\ge450^{\circ}C$ where the coherent islands are prererentially bounded along <100> directions and eshibt {105} facetting. Increasing the film thickness above critical values for strain relaxation leads to island coalescence and surface smoothening. At very low growth temperatures ($T_s\le 250^{\circ}C$), film surfaces roughen kinetically, due to limited adatom diffusiviry, but at far lower rates than in the higher-temperature strain-induced regime. There is an intermediate growth temperature range, however, over which alloy film surfaces remain extremely smooth even at thicknesses near critical values for strain relaxation.
The objective of this study is to investigate experimentally the effect of surface conditions of the plate on the impinging jet noise. The experimental results about the spectrum, the sound pressure level and the directivity are pressented and discussed in relation with the surface conditions. Regardless of the surface conditions, the pure tones of high level are generated at the same frequency band and the overall sound power level of impinging jets is much higher than that of the free jet. However, the velocity dependence of the sound pressure level and the directivity are different between smooth surfaces and rough surfaces. The dependence of sound pressure level on the jet velocity shows that the smooth surface generates quadrupole-type sound like free jets. However, the perforated or the rough surface radiates sound power exactly proportional to the sixth power of the jet velocity, indicating that the source is fixed dipole type. The directivities of 1/3 octave band sound pressure level for both the free and impinging jet show the peak directivity at 115$^\circ$ upstream, probably due to the refraction associated with velocity gradient.
The pure Mg powder compacts were successfully fabricated using SPS process. The machined chip powder showed flake shaped morphology with coarse surfaces, while gas atomized powders were spherical in morphology with smooth surfaces. In this study, SPS process was used to consolidate the pure Mg powder because this process allows high density consolidation in a short time. The results showed that increased sintering temperature from $350^{\circ}C$ to $500^{\circ}C$ with pressure of 30MPa, the maximum values of the density was increased from 98.1% to 99.8% of theoretical density, respectively. However, density of the sintered chip powders was higher than that of gas-atomized powder due to larger contact areas between particles.

We fabricated multi-scale such as macro-, micro-, and multi-scale wrinkles by using repetitive volume dividing (RVD) method and thermal curing process. Also wrinkle surface was modified with coating of a self-assembled monolayer (SAM). We measured the contact angle of each wrinkled surface, and observed the behavior of droplets on sloping surface. Through experimental study, we found out that the contact angle was much higher in case of multi-scale and SAM coated wrinkles. And micro-scale wrinkle showed a high contact angle comparing with that of macro-scale wrinkle. Dynamic behaviors of a water droplet like sliding velocity on diverse wrinkled surfaces were dependent on their static contact angles. These results showed that hydro-dynamic characteristics were changed depending on the wrinkle structure and the material forming the wrinkle. These dynamic characteristics can be utilized in bio-chip, microfluidics, and many others in order to control easily chemical reactivity.

Polarimetric measurements of the lunar surface from lunar orbit soon will be available via Wide-Field Polarimetric Camera (PolCam) onboard the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO), which is planned to be launched in mid 2022. To provide calibration data for the PolCam, we are conducting speckle polarimetric measurements of the nearside of the Moon from the Earth's ground. It appears that speckle imaging of the Moon for scientific purposes has not been attempted before, and there is need for a procedure to create a "lucky image" from a number of observed speckle images. As a first step of obtaining calibration data for the PolCam from the ground, we search for the best sharpness measure for lunar surfaces. We then calculate the minimum number of speckle images and the number of images to be shift-and-added for higher resolution (sharpness) and signal-to-noise ratio.
Any place where exercise is common, such as a club, sports hall, or school, is considered a place for teaching sports. When doing sports, a very safe environment for sports should be chosen. The athlete should consider the safety of sports facilities and equipment, and if there is a defect, he should refrain from exercising in these places. The safety of sports facilities is very effective in creating people's sports activities, with the benefits of staying away from physical harm, enjoying sports, and having mental peace. Everyone has the right to participate in sports and recreation and to ensure that they enjoy a safe environment. The ability to manage and solve issues that may arise plays the most critical role in creating a safe environment. The quality of construction materials used for the construction of sports facilities is of great importance. In this work, the resistance and water repellency of concrete constituents for the construction of sports buildings have been investigated by nanoscience. Nano-concrete material solves the main problem of concrete surfaces, i.e., the entry of water and humidity into the structure. It also gives it a self-cleaning ability with its water repellency. Nanoparticles are placed between pores and cover the cracks, which causes roughness in the surface structure of concrete. The high roughness of the surface of the coated concrete caused its super-hydrophobicity. In hydrophobic surfaces, the higher the contact angle, the more hydrophobic the surface will be. In order to investigate the hydrophobic properties, silica nanoparticles, silica nanoparticles, and fly ash were prepared on concrete, and their properties were analyzed.
This study was performed to investigate the surface roughness of the Cerec Vita Mark II polished by various polishing techniques, compare with that of the Vintage enamel porcelain glazed by high temperature glazing technique. All of the Cerec specimen were finished with sequential use of high speed diamond burs(grit 45, 30 and $15{\mu}m$). The groups were divided into 5 groups : Group I : Cerec Vita Mark II block specimens polished with Sof-lex discs. Group II : Cerce Vita Mark II block specimens polished with Two Striper MPS. Group III : Cerce Vita Mark II block specimens polished with Enhance. Group IV : Cerce Vita Mark II block specimens polished with Porcelain laminate polishing FG kit. Group V : Vintage enamel porcelain glazed by high temperature glazing Technique. Each group was consisted of 10 specimens. The surfaces produced were examined quantitatively using a laser specular reflectance machine(Perthen RM600-s, Feinpruf Perthen GmbH., Germany) and qualitatively under SEM(JSM-5400, JEOL, Japan). The Results were as follows : 1. The arithmetic mean roughness value(Ra) in groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 was higher than that of group5. There was statistically significant difference(P<0.05). 2. The arithmetic mean roughness value(Ra) decreased in the following orders : group 1, group 2, group 4, group 3 and there was no statistically significant difference between group 1 and group 2, group 3, and group 4. There was statistically significant difference among group 1, 2, and group 3, 4 and group 5(P<0.05). 3. The maximum individual peak-to-valley-height(Rmax) decreased in the following orders : group 2, group 1, group 4, group 3, group 5 and there was no statistically significant difference between group 1 and 2, group 1 and group 4, group 3 and group 5. There was statistically significant difference among group 1, 2, and group 1, 4 and group 3, 5(P<0.05). 4. The treated surfaces of group 5 had smoother surface than that of groups 1, 2, 3, 4 with SEM.

Friction stir welding results in low distortion and high joint strength compared with other welding procedures, and is able to join all aluminium alloys that are not considered as virtually weldable with classical liquid state techniques. The comparative study on high cycle fatigue properties between A16005-T6 friction stir welds and MIG weld joints have been performed and fracture mechanisms for the fatigue specimens were investigated. Although mechanical properties are lower than the corresponding base material, FSW joints of A16005-T6 become higher at tensile and fatigue strength in comparison with the traditional fusion weld(MIG). The fracture surfaces of FSW and MIG fatigue specimens cleary show different aspects of the fracture morphology. MIG weldments were characterized by voids and cleavage(brittle fracture) but FSW specimens showed the presence of ductile fracture surface.
