A three-dimensional aerodynamic model and a vehicle dynamics model are established to investigate the effect of noise barrier on the dynamic performance of a high-speed train running on an embankment in crosswind in this paper. Based on the developed model, flow structures around the train with and without noise barrier are compared. Effect of the noise barrier height on the train dynamic performance is studied. Then, comparisons between the dynamic performance indexes of the train running on the windward track and on the leeward track are made. The calculated results show that the noise barrier has significant effects on the structure of the flow field around the train in crosswind and thus on the dynamic performance of the high-speed train. The dynamic performance of the train on the windward track is better than that on the leeward track. In addition, various heights of the noise barrier will have different effects on the train dynamic performance. The dynamic performance indexes keep decreasing with the increase of the noise barrier height before the height reaches a certain value, while these indexes have an inverse trend when the height is above this value. These results suggest that optimization on the noise barrier height is possible and demonstrate that the designed noise barrier height of the existing China Railway High-speed line analysed in this article is reasonable from the view point of the flow field structure and train dynamic performance although the noise barrier is always designed based on the noise-related standard.

The dynamic analysis model is developed with the high-speed train (KTX) and a 2-span continuous prestressed concrete box girder bridge with a double track. The analytical results are compared with the dynamic field test results and found to be valid to yield quite accurate dynamic responses. The various trainset models with different number of cars are developed and compared with the results of the regular 20-car trainset model. It is concluded that the reduced trainset models, such as 7-car and 10-car models, cannot exactly produce the dynamic responses of bridges, especially when the train speed is high. Under the coincidence condition of two trains traveling with resonance velocity in the opposite directions, it is found that the impact factor under two-way coincidence is three times larger than that under one-way traffic. Consequently, for the bridge with a double-track it is necessary to check not only the dynamic responses of the bridge with one-way traffic but those with two-way coincidence.
In the design stage of high precision manufacturing/inspection FAB facilities, it is necessary to investigate the allowable vibration limits of high precision equipments and to study structural dynamic characteristics of C/R and Sub-structure in order to provide structural vibration criteria to satisfy these allowable limits. The goal of this study is to investigate the dynamic characteristics of PC-Type mock-up structures designed for next generation TFT-LCD FAB through experiments and analysis procedures. Therefore, in order to provide a proper dynamic structural design for high precision manufacturing/inspection work process, these allowable limits must be satisfied.
Recently the requirement of long-term mobile energy source for mobile robot or small-sized unmanned vehicle is highly increased, and the micro turbine generator(MTG) which is known to have high energy and power density is under development. MTG is designed to have air foil bearing and high speed rotor of which operating speed is 400,000rpm. In the development stage of high speed rotor and bearing, stability analysis for the full operational speed range is essential and the dynamic coefficients such as stiffness and damping coefficients of bearing depending on the rotational speed are required for that. Although perturbation method is usually used to identify the dynamic coefficients, it's not easy to give the perturbation to the high speed rotating rotor. In this study, we present the dynamic coefficients measurement system for air foil bearing which consists of electromagnets, gap sensors, high speed motor and controller. This measurement system can exert the sine sweep force to the rotor-bearing, measure the displacement of rotor and get FRF(Frequency response function) of rotor-bearing. The least square estimation method is applied to identify the dynamic coefficients of bearing from the measured frequency response at the different rpm and the identified dynamic coefficients for the wide rotational speed range are presented.
A dynamic analysis procedure is developed to provide a better estimation of the dynamic responses of pre-stressed concrete (PSC) box girder bridges on the Korea high speed railway. Particularly, a three dimensional numerical model including the structural interaction between high speed vehicles, bridges and railway endures to analyze accurately and evaluate with in-depth parametric studies for dynamic responses of bridge due to the high speed railway vehicles. Three dimensional frame element is used to model the PSC box girder bridges, simply supported span lengths 40 m. The high-speed railway vehicles (K-TGV) including a locomotive are used as 38-degree of freedom system. Three displacements (vertical, lateral, and longitudinal) as well as three rotational components (pitching, rolling, and yawing) are considered in the 38-degree of freedom model. The dynamic analysis by Runge-Kutta method which are able to analyze considering the dynamic impact factors are compared and contrasted. It is proposed as an empirical formula that the impact factors damaged the bridge load-carrying capacities occurs to the bride due to high-speed vehicle.

The characteristics of dynamic vibration are generally analyzed by an acceleration of a car body of high speed train and the acceleration can be applied to evaluation of running safety. The test of process and the analysis method about it are well explained on UIC Code 518 OR which is the spacial international standard about running safety and dynamic behavior on the line test for railway vehicle. Korean High Speed Train designed to operate at speed 350km/h has been tested on high speed line since it was developed in 2002 and it recorded the highest speed 352.4km/h at the 16th Dec. 2004 in Korea. This paper includes the analysis of running behavior of this train at speed 350km/h and the analysis of dynamic safety is presented in it, extending to the range of high speed while the UIC 518 limit the speed below 200km/h.
Bearing joint dynamic parameter identification is crucial in modeling the high speed spindles for machining centers used to predict the stability and natural frequencies of high speed spindles. In this paper, a hybrid method is proposed to identify the dynamic stiffness of bearing joint for the high speed spindles. The hybrid method refers to the analytical approach and experimental method. The support stiffness of spindle shaft can be obtained by adopting receptance coupling substructure analysis method, which consists of series connected bearing and joint stiffness. The bearing stiffness is calculated based on the Hertz contact theory. According to the proposed series stiffness equation, the stiffness of bearing joint can be separated from the composite stiffness. Then, one can obtain the bearing joint stiffness fitting formulas and its variation law under different preload. An experimental set-up with variable preload spindle is developed and the experiment is provided for the validation of presented bearing joint stiffness identification method. The results show that the bearing joint significantly cuts down the support stiffness of the spindles, which can seriously affects the dynamic characteristic of the high speed spindles.

The purpose of this paper is presented a rational method of predicting dynamic/impact tensile strength of high tensile steel materials widely used fur structural material of automobiles. It is known that the ultimate strength is related with the loading speed and the Lethargy Coefficient from the tensile test. The Dynamic Lethargy Coefficient is proportional to the disorientation of the molecular structure and indicates the magnitude of defects resulting from the probability of breaking the bonds responsible for its strength. The coefficient is obtained from the simple tensile test such as failure time and stresses at fracture. These factors not only affect the static strength but also have a great influence on the dynamic/impact characteristics of the joist and the adjacent structures. This strength is used to analyze the failure life prediction of mechanical system by virtue of its material fracture. The impact tensile test is performed to evaluate the life parameters due to loading speed with the proposed method. Also the evaluation of the dynamic/impact effect on the material tensile strength characteristics is compared with the result of Campbell-Cooper equation to verify the proposed method.
Mechanical properties of the materials used for transportations and industrial machinery under high strain rate loading conditions such as seismic loading are required to provide appropriate safety assessment to these mechanical structures. The Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) technique with a special experimental apparatus can be used to obtain the material behavior under high strain rate loading conditions. In this paper, dynamic deformation behaviors of the aluminum alloys such as A12024-T4, A1606 IT-6 and A17075-T6 under both high strain rate compressive and tensile loading conditions are determined using the SHPB technique.
