The Hierarchy of Images according to Construction Factors of the Flared Skirts

  • This study analyzed hierarchy of image for visual evaluation of flare skirt. This study analyzed expression words about flare skirt with frequency data of image expression words with different length and volume of flare. Stimuli for the study were set to be 4 different volume of flare ($90^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$, $270^{\circ}$, $360^{\circ}$) and 3 different length of skirt(48cm, 58cm, 68cm). Stimuli were made by using I-Designer which is Virtual Sewing System. From simulation of flare skirt, the subjects were asked to write down suggested adjective freely and selected 210 adjectives. With this, we chose total 38 adjectives considering frequencies in the pre-study. And we analyzed the combination process of expression words according to construction factor of flare skirt and hierarchy of image from dendrogram which was resulted by hierarchical cluster analysis. 'Feminine' got high score in all 12 flare skirt. When the skirt was short, it was vivid, and as the skirt got longer, ordinary and pure image showed. Also, as the volume of flare got larger, the average of visual effect was higher than visual image. Visual hierarchy construction according to construction factors of flare skirt could be divided into visual image and visual effect, and visual image was shown to be form 'A type - large volume of flare and short skirt length', 'H type-small volume of flare and short skirt length' and 'X type - large volume of flare and long skirt length'.

Development of Evaluation Dimensions regarding the Image of Clothing Materials (의류 소재의 이미지 평가 차원 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we classified adjectives to represent the image of clothing materials as the fundamental process for evaluation of the images on various fabrics and reviewed hierarchy and evaluation dimensions regarding the image of clothing materials. The adjectives to express the image of clothing materials were extracted from Fashion Magazine and Fashion Trend Book The similarity among adjectives was measured by pair-wise comparison without showing fabrics. From the result of the cluster analysis, 87 adjectives were finally extracted through the integrated processing of the adjectives with similar meaning and a close distance. Through the cluster analysis, the hierarchy of the clothing material images was examined. The clothing material images were classified into 12 primary sub-clusters such as ‘feminine', ‘warm', ‘neat', ‘classical', ‘pastoral.' ‘casual', ‘modern'. ‘ambiguous', ‘primitive', masculine', ‘abundant', and ‘arranged'. The dimensions evaluating the clothing material images were also developed using the multi-dimensional scaling method. A 4-dimensions and 8-axes system was established, which is composed of ‘masculine-feminine', ‘new-old', ‘casual-classical', and ‘ambiguous-arranged' images.

A Study on the Hierarchy of Clothing Images (의복 이미지의 계층구조에 대한 연구)

  • This study was intended to identify the hierarchy of clothing images, which is expected to be helpful in style classification and product positioning. A questionnaire consisted of 110 words expressing clothing images was developed, and eight clothing photographs were selected as stimuli. 289 female subjects aged between 22 to 37 responded to two of the eight photographs during September, 1991. 110 words were reduced to 62 words based on their independence before conducting factor analysis to identify the constructing factors of clothing images. Nine words with negative connotations were eliminated, because they are not sought in product development. To explain the hierarchy of clothing images, cluster analysis was applied. To observe the association of 53 words, dendrogram was introduced, and to interpret the result, eleven sub clusters were determined. This 11 clusters were continuously combined according to their similarities, until they integrated into one 'clothing image'. Two major division of image clusters were 'graceful and feminine image', and 'mannish and simple image'.

The Hierarchy of Images in the Gathered Skirts According to the Constructing Factors (개더스커트의 구성요인에 따른 이미지 계층구조)

  • This study was intended to identify the constructing factors and hierarchy of images in the gathered skirts, which is expected to be helpful in shape classification. The gathered skirts were made by different gathering conditions: three kinds of the gathers ratio(1.5T, 2.0T, 2.5T) and different fabrics(cotton, mixed wool, polyester). 45 undergraduate and graduate women students responded to the nine gathered skirts during December in 2004 to February in 2005. 184 words expressing gathered skirt were collected through the investigation and analysis of questionnaires. 32 words arranged in based on the standard form with frequency before conducting factor analysis to identify the constructing factors of gathered skirt images. As a result of factors analysis, 2 factors-H shape, A shape were found out as constructing factors of gathered skirts. To explain the hierarchy of gathered skirt images, cluster analysis was applied. To observe the association of 32 words, dendrogram was introduced, and to interpret the result, five sub clusters were determined. This 5 clusters were continuously combined according to their frequency, based on the factors marks. Two major division of image clusters were 'simple and neat image', and 'fairly good and feminine image'.

Image Classification Using Convolutional Neural Networks Considering Category Hierarchies (카테고리 계층을 고려한 회선신경망의 이미지 분류)

  • In order to improve the performance of image classifications using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), applying a category hierarchy to the classification can be a useful idea. However, the visual separation of object categories is very different according to the upper and lower category levels and highly uneven in image classifications. Therefore, it is doubtable whether the use of category hierarchies for classification is effective in CNN. In this paper, we have clarified whether the image classification using category hierarchies improves classification performance, and found at which level of hierarchy classification is more effective. For experiments we divided the image classification task according to the upper and lower category levels and assigned image data to each CNN model. We identified and compared the results of three classification models and analyzed them. Through the experiments, we could confirm that classification effectiveness was not improved by reduction of number of categories in a classification model. And we found that only with the re-training method in the last network layer, the performance of lower category classification was not improved although that of higher category classification was improved.

Recursive SPIHT(Set Partitioning in Hierarchy Trees) Algorithm for Embedded Image Coding (내장형 영상코딩을 위한 재귀적 SPIHT 알고리즘)

  • A number of embedded wavelet image coding methods have been proposed since the introduction of EZW(Embedded Zerotree Wavelet) algorithm. A common characteristic of these methods is that they use fundamental ideas found in the EZW algorithm. Especially, one of these methods is the SPIHT(Set Partitioning in Hierarchy Trees) algorithm, which became very popular since it was able to achieve equal or better performance than EZW without having to use an arithmetic encoder. In this paper We propose a recursive set partitioning in hierarchy trees(RSPIHT) algorithm for embedded image coding and evaluate it's effectiveness experimentally. The proposed RSPIHT algorithm takes the simple and regular form and the worst case time complexity of O(n). From the viewpoint of processing time, the RSPIHT algorithm takes about 16.4% improvement in average than the SPIHT algorithm at T-layer over 4 of experimental images. Also from the viewpoint of coding rate, the RSPIHT algorithm takes similar results at T-layer under 7 but the improved results at other T-layer of experimental images.

  • The purpose of this study is to deduce dwelling selection criterion and to consider change of values and consciousness of dwelling on people who return to farming & going to village. For that, questionnaire of evaluation of housing choice is conducted by people who return to farming & going to village in Jellanam-do by the AHP. The results are as follows. First, four factors as the primary hierarchy structure and 12 factors as the secondary hierarchy structure of dwelling selection criterion are deduced. The primary hierarchy are "education environment", "economic & Convenience in life", "residence safety and image", and "economic value". Second, weight value deduced from the primary hierarchy structure is showed that "economic & convenience in life(0.345)" is the highest and next is "education environment(0.262)". "Residence safety and image(0.237)", and e "economic value(0.157)" is relatively low(C.I. 0.213). Third, for the secondary hierarchy structure, the case of life convenience is showed that economic condition(0.403) is the highest, the case of educational condition is showed that education facilities(0.479), the case of residence safety and image is showed that residence area(0.490) is the highest, and the case of economic importance is showed that financial technology(0.470) is the highest.

A Study on the Fashion Image Coordination of Modern Men (현대 남성의 패션이미지 연출에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the modern men's fashion coordination to see the image in the center of TV dramas in terms of Habitu that is formed within hierarchy and class. The subjects range is included fashion style, color, accessories, hairstyle and appearance. 950 pictures used in the analysis sheet. In research methods, content analysis and basic statistics were used. The results of this study were as follows. First, the hierarchy image formed by Habitus is significant difference. The upper layer is coordinating elite luxurious and prestigious image of the fashion styles. The middle layer is coordinating neat and capable image. The lower layer does not care about the appearance and image appearing weary life is coordinating. Second, the class image formed by Habitus, CEO often interests in fashion image coordination. Senior executive is represented clean and luxurious image. General white color dresses in a suite such as office look. Blue color does not care about the fashion coordination and is expressed an easy dress for labor. Architects of the unstructured free-spirited image is represented. Physician and resident physician dress in shirts, no pattern tie, pants, robe. And they is coordinating neat and tidy attire to represent professional and reliable image.

  • As the importance and utilization of multimedia data increases, it becomes necessary to represent and manage multimedia data within database systems. In this paper, we designed and implemented an image retrieval system which support efficient management and intelligent retrieval of image data using concept hierarchy and data mining techniques. We stored the image information intelligently in databases using concept hierarchy. To support intelligent retrievals and efficient web services, our system automatically extracts and stores the user information, the user's query information, and the feature data of images. The proposed system integrates user metadata and image metadata to support various retrieval methods on image data.

  • Many watermarking methods for protecting the intellectual property right and authentication multimedia data have been proposed in recent years. In image authentication watermarking, watermark is inserted into an image to detect any malicious alteration. So, watermark for authentication and integrity should be erased easily when the image is changed by scaling or cropping etc. We propose in this paper a fragile watermarking algorithm for image integrity verification and tamper localization proofing using special hierarchical structure. In the proposed method, the image to be watermarked is divided into blocks in a multi-level hierarchy and calculating block digital signatures in thus hierarchy. At each level of the hierarchy, a digital signature for each block is calculated using the seven most significant bit(MSBs)-plane values of all pixels within the block. And the resulting signature is incorporated into the LSBs of selected pixels within the block. We provide experimental results to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
