  • This study aimed to determine if mindfulness interacted with stress and relieved the negative effect of stress on school life satisfaction among female college students. Research was conducted among 550 female students at four colleges in the capital area and Chungcheong-do and the data were collected in May 2019. ANOVA was carried out for the variation of the dependent variables based on the subjects' general characteristics. The hierarchical regression analysis was performed for the moderating effect of mindfulness. Stress and interpersonal relationship-related stress differed by school year, subjective economic status, and subjective health status. Mindfulness differed by subjective economic status and subjective health status. School life satisfaction differed by school year, subjective economic status, and subjective health status. Mindfulness had moderating effect on the association between stress and school life satisfaction, as well as on the association between interpersonal relationship-related stress and school life satisfaction. In conclusion, efforts should be made to relieve stress regarding the level mindfulness, with the objective of making female college students more satisfied with their school life. These efforts are expected to be more effective by grouping the subjects, taking into account such characteristics as school year, economic status, and health status.

  • This study was carried out to empirically analyze the hypothesis that the impact of the welfare status on the welfare attitudes is moderated by each individual's level of confidence in government. To do this, this study focused on the welfare status known as the significant predictors of welfare attitudes and measured the welfare status as a gap between 'welfare contribute' and 'welfare benefit' in a single dimension, which is defined as 'material sacrifice'. Also, this study examined the main effect of material sacrifice and trust in government on the welfare attitudes and moderating effect of trust in government on relationship between material sacrifice and welfare attitudes. This study was performed with secondary data from 8th year of "2013 Korea Welfare Panel Study". Hypothesis of this study were verified using hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The major findings of this study are summarized as follow. 'Material sacrifice' was found to be negatively associated with the welfare attitudes. However, as the confidence in which social policies will be carried out competently by government increases, it was confirmed that the negative effect of material sacrifice on the welfare attitudes was moderated. It suggests that self-material interests associated with welfare could be moderated by beliefs and expectations about the government's functions, which means that expanding the reliance on the social policy is an important task in order to lead a social consensus for the welfare expansion.

  • Background: It is getting important to improve the oral health status of the elderly because oral health status may affect their health status of the whole body. In this respect, we aimed to explore the association of oral health status and behavior factors with self-rated health status by sex. Methods: Using the data from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey for health surveys and oral examinations (2016-2018), we analyzed a total of 3,070 people aged 65 or older (men: 1,329; women: 1,741). Our dependent variable, self-rated health status, was divided into two groups: not good (bad and very bad) and good (very good, good, and fair), whereas our independent variables of interest were oral health status and behavior factors. In addition to descriptive analysis and the Rao-Scott chi-square test, reflecting survey characteristics, we conducted hierarchical multivariable logistic regression analyses adjusted for socio-demographics and health status and behavior factors. All analyses were stratified by sex. Results: The proportion of people having 'not good' self-rated health was 36.5% in women but 24.5% in men. In a model adjusted for all covariates, the self-rated health status showed significant association with the self-rated oral health status. For example, in men, the risk of having 'not good' self-rated health was high in people having 'poor' (odds ratio [OR], 5.31; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.34-12.03) self-rated oral health status and in those having 'fair' (OR, 4.03; 95% CI, 1.68-9.70) in comparison with those having 'good' self-rated oral health status. Dental status regarding speaking difficulty seemed to be very important in influencing self-rated health status. For instance, in women, compared to people having 'no discomfort' speaking difficulty, the risk of having 'not good' self-rated health was high in people having 'not bad' (OR, 1.60; 95% CI, 1.14-2.24) and 'discomfort' (OR, 1.79; 95% CI, 1.30-2.47) speaking difficulty. The covariates significantly associated with the risk of having 'not good' self-rated health were: physical activity, chronic disease, stress, and body mass index in both sexes; health insurance type and drinking only in men; and economic activity only in women. Conclusion: Oral health status and behavioral factors were associated with self-rated health status among the elderly, differently by sex. This suggests that public health policies toward better health in the elderly should take their oral health status and oral health behaviors into account in a sex-specific way.

  • The purpose of this study is, first, to empirically verify the relationship between the influences of the start-up performance and the inherent fear factor of failure on the start-up performance through the preparation of the start-up. Second, this study aims to prove the influence of the moderating effect of social support on the relationship between start-up preparation and the burden of start-up failure. The research subjects were sampled and analyzed by 298 start-ups who are currently starting their own businesses. This study founds that preparation of start-up items, which is a subordinate theory of start-up preparation, had a significant effect on start-up performance, and that anxiety about failure had a significant effect on start-up performance. Using the SPSS statistical program, the hierarchical regression analysis proved the moderating effect of social support in the relationship between star-tup preparation, start-up failure burden and startup performance. Furthermore, the moderating effect of social support among start-up preparation, start-up failure burden and start-up achievement was analyzed, but no significant results were found for start-up failure burden. Besides, the effect of the opposite concept of independent variables on the dependent variables at the same time is to be analysed.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of the implicit narcissism of unmarried men and women in their 20s and 30s on the tolerance of violence in dating and the mediating effect of irrational relationship beliefs. To this end, major variables were measured through survey and statistical analysis was conducted on 215 unmarried men and women in their 20s and 30s who had experience in dating violence. Hierarchical regression was used to analyse the mediated effects of irrational relational beliefs in the relationship between intrinsic self-love propensity and dating violence tolerance, and hypothesis testing showed that introspective self-love affects the tolerance of dating violence. It was also found that irrational relationships were completely intertwined between implicit narcissism and dating violence tolerance. The results of these studies indicate that irrational interrelationships only affect the tolerance of dating violence. The results of this study are suggestive in that it can contribute to the development of counseling and education programs that can prevent dating violence by proving the mediating effect of irrational relationship beliefs about violence tolerance.

  • This study examined the effects of perceived value (functional value, social value) and stress (complexity, insecurity) on continuous intention in SNS. In particular, this study examined the direct and indirect impacts of SNS type on the intention of continuing to use SNS. The research model was tested for 461 respondents that used SNS. SPSS 21.0 and PLS 2.0 techniques were used to perform reliability, feasibility, path and hierarchical regression analysis. The summary of the research results is as follows. First, the results indicate that functional value and social value have positive effects on satisfaction. Second, the results indicate that complexity had a negative effect on satisfaction. Third, the results indicate that insecurity and satisfaction have positive effects on continuous intention. Fourth, the results indicate that SNS type had a negative effect on continuous intention. Fifth, it was shown that SNS type had a moderating effect in the relationship between insecurity and continuous intention. Specifically, Insecurity had a stronger effect on continuous intention at closed-type SNS than open-type SNS. These findings suggest that closed-type SNS companies will have to address the anxiety of SNS users by providing various items and system devices.

  • The present study explored psychological factors related to the desire to have children of young adults who had yet to marry and begin a family. To do so, the present study investigated the relationships among the desire to have children, adult attachment styles and belief in a just world (DJ-self, PJ-self, DJ-others, and PJ-others). This study analyzed the self-reported data of 260 adults aged 20 to 39. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that after controlling for gender, individuals with more avoidant models of close adult relationships showed less desire to have children. Moreover, the belief in a just world accounted for an additional variance. Specifically, participants' PJ-others positively predicted their desire to have children. These results suggest that individuals' expectations about close relationships and justice of their society might explain a part of their desire to have children. The implications, limitations, and future directions of the study were discussed.
