A Bio-inspired Hybrid Cross-Layer Routing Protocol for Energy Preservation in WSN-Assisted IoT

  • Nowadays, the Internet of Things (IoT) is adopted to enable effective and smooth communication among different networks. In some specific application, the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are used in IoT to gather peculiar data without the interaction of human. The WSNs are self-organizing in nature, so it mostly prefer multi-hop data forwarding. Thus to achieve better communication, a cross-layer routing strategy is preferred. In the cross-layer routing strategy, the routing processed through three layers such as transport, data link, and physical layer. Even though effective communication achieved via a cross-layer routing strategy, energy is another constraint in WSN assisted IoT. Cluster-based communication is one of the most used strategies for effectively preserving energy in WSN routing. This paper proposes a Bio-inspired cross-layer routing (BiHCLR) protocol to achieve effective and energy preserving routing in WSN assisted IoT. Initially, the deployed sensor nodes are arranged in the form of a grid as per the grid-based routing strategy. Then to enable energy preservation in BiHCLR, the fuzzy logic approach is executed to select the Cluster Head (CH) for every cell of the grid. Then a hybrid bio-inspired algorithm is used to select the routing path. The hybrid algorithm combines moth search and Salp Swarm optimization techniques. The performance of the proposed BiHCLR is evaluated based on the Quality of Service (QoS) analysis in terms of Packet loss, error bit rate, transmission delay, lifetime of network, buffer occupancy and throughput. Then these performances are validated based on comparison with conventional routing strategies like Fuzzy-rule-based Energy Efficient Clustering and Immune-Inspired Routing (FEEC-IIR), Neuro-Fuzzy- Emperor Penguin Optimization (NF-EPO), Fuzzy Reinforcement Learning-based Data Gathering (FRLDG) and Hierarchical Energy Efficient Data gathering (HEED). Ultimately the performance of the proposed BiHCLR outperforms all other conventional techniques.

Determination of Adulteration of Chicken Meat into Minced Beef Mixtures using Front Face Fluorescence Spectroscopy Coupled with Chemometric

  • The objective of this study was to explore the potential of front face fluorescence spectroscopy (FFFS) as rapid, non-destructive and inclusive technique along with multi-variate analysis for predicting meat adulteration. For this purpose (FFFS) was used to discriminate pure minced beef meat and adulterated minced beef meat containing (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100%) of chicken meat as an adulterant in uncooked beef meat samples. Fixed excitation (290 nm, 322 nm, and 340 nm) and fixed emission (410 nm) wavelengths were used for performing analysis. Fluorescence spectra were acquired from pure and adulterated meat samples to differentiate pure and binary mixtures of meat samples. Principle component analysis, partial least square regression and hierarchical cluster analysis were used as chemometric tools to find out the information from spectral data. These chemometric tools predict adulteration in minced beef meat up to 10% chicken meat but are not good in distinguishing adulteration level from 1% to 5%. The results of this research provide baseline for future work for generating spectral libraries using larger datasets for on-line detection of meat authenticity by using fluorescence spectroscopy.

  • Gene-shaving(Hastie et al, 2000) is a very useful method to identify a meaningful group of genes when the variation of expression is large. By shaving off the low-correlated genes with the leading principal component, the primary genes with the coherent expression pattern can be identified. Gene-shaving method works well If expression levels are varied enough, but it may not catch the meaningful cluster in low expression level or different expression time even with coherent patterns. The sliding window gene-shaving method which is to apply gene-shaving in each sliding window after hierarchical clustering is to compensate losing a meaningful set of genes whose variation is not large but distinct. The performance to identify expression patterns is compared for the simulated profile data by the different variance and expression level.

  • 경쟁위험사건들은 다기관 임상시험과 같은 군집화된 임상연구에서 자주 관측되어진다. 본 논문에서는 하나의 군집으로 부터 얻어지는 경쟁위험 생존자료에 대해 공통 프레일티를 허락하는 결합 프레일티모형 접근법을 제안한다. 추론을 위해 어려운 적분 자체를 피하는 다단계 가능도를 사용하여, 대응하는 추론절차를 유도한다. 또한 실제자료 분석을 통해 제안된 방법을 예증한다.

  • The management of organizational Human Resource is steadily shifting away from pure hierarchical to market mechanisms that involve external vendors. HR Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) has recently emerged as a significant administrative innovation in an organization's strategy. Our paper attempts to understand firm-specific factors influencing the scope of HR BPO needs. Study results show that IT maturity and firm size are influential factors on the scope of HR BPO needs. We hope that our attempt at empirically examining and predicting this emergent phenomenon will stimulate others to look at this important strategic challenge facing firms from a theoretical perspective. Such research initiatives will allow us not only to better understand this complex phenomenon, but also to drive useful management prescriptions grounded on theory-based research.

QCanvas: An Advanced Tool for Data Clustering and Visualization of Genomics Data

  • We developed a user-friendly, interactive program to simultaneously cluster and visualize omics data, such as DNA and protein array profiles. This program provides diverse algorithms for the hierarchical clustering of two-dimensional data. The clustering results can be interactively visualized and optimized on a heatmap. The present tool does not require any prior knowledge of scripting languages to carry out the data clustering and visualization. Furthermore, the heatmaps allow the selective display of data points satisfying user-defined criteria. For example, a clustered heatmap of experimental values can be differentially visualized based on statistical values, such as p-values. Including diverse menu-based display options, QCanvas provides a convenient graphical user interface for pattern analysis and visualization with high-quality graphics.

  • 계층 군집화 (Hierarchical Clustering)는 전역정보를 활용하여 군집화를 하기 때문에 다양한 군집 분석(Cluster Analysis) 방법들 중에 비교적 많이 이용되고 있으나 군집화의 결과를 덴드로그램의 형태로 나타내 전체 군집들의 정보를 직관적으로 확인하기에는 어려움이 존재한다. 이러한 문제를 개선하기 위해서 기존 Dendrogram의 정보를 크게 훼손하지 않고 직관적으로 클러스터의 정보를 확인할 수 있는 Reachability plot이 개발되었다. 그러나 Centroid Linkage 방식과 같이 덴드로그램이 비단조적이 될 수 있는 계층 군집화에서는 이것을 기존의 Reachability plot 방식으로 변환할 경우 정보가 왜곡 되어 나타날 수 있다. 따라서 우리는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법을 제안함으로써 비단조적 덴드로그램의 경우에도 군집들을 정보의 왜곡 없이 표현할 수 있도록 하였다.

  • In many cases of cluster analysis we are forced to perform clustering without any prior knowledge on the number of clusters. But in some clustering methods such as k-means algorithm it is required to provide the number of clusters beforehand. In this study, we focus on the problem to determine the number of clusters in the given data. We follow the 2 stage approach of ASA clustering algorithm and mainly try to improve the performance of the first stage of the algorithm. We verify the usefulness of the method by applying it for various kinds of simulated data. Also, we apply the method for clustering two kinds of real life qualitative data.

부적응 행동 유아를 위한 정서중재 프로그램 개발 예비연구 (A Preliminary Study on the Development and Effects of an Emotional Intervention Program for Maladaptive Preschoolers)

  • The purpose of this research is to develop and evaluate an emotional intervention program for maladaptive preschoolers. The emotional intervention program focused on nurturing the ability to express emotions in healthy ways and how to empathize with others while the preschoolers perceives negative emotions. The participants in this study were nineteen preschoolers, residing in S city. Nineteen subjects were assigned to an experimental group practicing an emotional intervention program. The preschoolers participated in 8-session programs once a week over the course of eight weeks. Descriptive statistics, paired t-test and hierarchical cluster analysis were performed. The results of this study were as follows. First, there were significant differences between posttests and pretests results. The results showed a decrease in maladaptive preschooler's problematic behaviors and aggressive strategies. The maladaptive preschoolers showed more representations of anxiety, avoidance/withdrawal, and deregulated/aggression. In addition the results also showed a decrease in preschooler's representations of anxiety, avoidance/withdrawal, and deregulated/aggression.

청소년과 중년이 갖고 있는 노인의 고정관념 비교연구 (Stereotypes of the Elderly Held by Adolescents and Middle-Aged Adults)

  • The purpose of this research was to identify arid to compare stereotypes toward the elderly held by adolescents and middle-aged adults. Stereotypes toward the elderly were examined at two levels: to assess students′and middle-aged adults′beliefs about the traits of the elderly and to categorize the traits into stereotypes. Traits groupings were analyzed with hierarchical cluster analysis. The main results of this study were as follows: First, both adolescents and middle-aged adults believed the negative stereotypes were more characteristic of the elderly than the positive ones. Second, middle-aged adults reported more complex negative stereotype sets of the elderly than adolescents. Third, Adolescents reported even more negative physical appearance trails of elderly persons than the middle-aged. Fourth, the traits endorsed as characteristics of elderly persons were often contradictory within two age groups. For example, adolescents perceived "sacrifice" as a positive trait of the elderly, while middle-aged adults perceived it as a negative one.
