  • The purpose of this study is to propose a hierarchical user interfaces for browsing the knowledge structure of a single document. To generate the hierarchical knowledge structure, hierarchical term clustering and cluster representative term selection were performed with a single thesis in information science field, and the result was applied to design the interfaces which browse a single document hierarchically using multidimensional scaling. The interfaces can be applied to develop the user-friendly information retrieval system.

  • In this paper, I would like to talk about a step by step detailed information browsing which is founded on hierarchical structure for offering suitable information about the mass 3D data of a national treasure building to user as a standard of the visual distance. A step by step detailed information of the national treasure building of gigantic proportions offers a process of detailed information browsing which decided suitable hierarchical structure as considering of the preprocessing procedure which produces hierarchical structure and a visual distance of user. In the preprocessing procedure, 3D data is divided and controlled by optimized spacial structures. The relevance connection between the inner spacial surface is then examined and reconfigured in order to prevent holes or distortions. Finally, relative information data is created. In detailed information browsing, by examining the visual distance between model and user, then by browsing proper step of data, suitable level model data can be provided to the users in accordance with the position of observation.

  • Hypermedia systems allow the retrieval and representation of multimedia in- formation such as text, graphics, image and voice/sound using navigation and browsing mechanisms. In this study we developed a hypermedia system which provides hierarchical group, local map and cluster view for effective navigation in hyperspace. The system also supports hot link, reference link, move-to link and multiple link to browse the multimedia information space effectively. This system has been designed to integrate the navigation, browsing and searching function of the hypermedia system in hyman factor perspective and provides the user-friendly user interface mechanism.

  • In this paper, we Propose a browsing system to reduce the contents retrieval time in the personalized broadcasting system. For this purpose, we add a subgenre table between Classification DS and Summarization DS of MPEG-7 MDS. The subgenre includes a subgenre list to shorten the searching time of contents which we want to find. In addition we divide metadata into event and object using Summarization DS of the MPEG-7 MDS. In this way, the hierarchical browsing of broadcasting contents is made possible. This structure may reduce the complexity of search by storing event and object separately. Our simulation results show that the search time of the proposed system is shorter than that of the previous works.

  • Recently, the capability of efficient access to the desired video content is of growing importance because more digital video data are available at an increasing rate. A video summary abstracting the gist from the entirety enables the efficient browsing as well as the fast skimming of the video contents. In this paper, we discuss a novel dynamic summarization method based on the detection of highlights which represent semantically significant content and the description scheme (DS) proposed to MPEG-7 aiming to provide summary description. The summary DS proposed to MPEG-7 allows for efficient navigation and browsing to the contents of interest through the functionalities of multi-level highlights, hierarchical browsing and user-customized summarization. In this paper, we also show the validation and the usefulness of the methodology for dynamic summarization and the summary DS in real applications with soccer video sequences.

  • In this paper, we propose a new video structuring method for reconstructuring a 'structured logical video' which adds logical video information to a conventional structured video. Logical video information is composed of background, object, and situation. The proposed structured video is reconstructed in logical unit like episodes as well as in physical unit like shots. It can support many video functions and may be reusable in many video applications-video browsing, video retrieval, video editing, etc. we also present the video database management system in order to manage the proposed structured video is modeled on object-oriented concept and hierarchical structure. Also, we design and implement a video browsing and retrieval system using the proposed structured video.

  • With the popularization of digital photography, people are now capturing and storing far more photos than ever before. However, the enormous number of photos often discourages the users to identify desired photos. In this paper, we present a novel method for fast and intuitive browsing through large collections of geo-referenced photographs. Given a set of photos, we construct a hierarchical structure of clusters such that each cluster includes a set of spatially adjacent photos and its sub-clusters divide the photo set disjointly. For each cluster, we pre-compute its convex hull and the corresponding polygon area. At run-time, this pre-computed data allows us to efficiently visualize only a fraction of the clusters that are inside the current view and have easily recognizable sizes with respect to the current zoom level. Each cluster is displayed as a single polygon representing its convex hull instead of every photo location included in the cluster. The users can quickly transfer from clusters to clusters by simply selecting any interesting clusters. Our system automatically pans and zooms the view until the currently selected cluster fits precisely into the view with a moderate size. Our user study demonstrates that these new visualization and interaction techniques can significantly improve the capability of navigating over large collections of geo-referenced photos.

  • MPEG-7 based on XML represents various information of multimedia data's contents. and it support search and browsing by user's wants. But, MPEG-7 standard don't support retrieval method and Many XML Indexing is not compatible to retrieval MPEG-7 documents. So Much research activity and interest has emerged recently in retrieval MPEG-7 documents. In our paper, we suppose a hierarchical index based on MPEG-7 document's structural information, and review how to query processing based on high level feature description.

  • In this paper, we propose a video data segmentation method using edge and color distribution of video frames and also develop a video browser by using the proposed algorithm. To segment a video, we use a 644-bin HSV color histogram and the edge information which generated with automatic threshold method. We consider scene's characteristics by using positions and colo distributions of object in each frame. We develop a hierarchical and a shot-based browser for video browsing. We also show that our proposed method is less sensitive to light effects and more robust to motion effects than previous ones like a histogram-based method by testing with various video data.
