EXPRESS is product information description language. It is interpretable by human and software. Product data written in EXPRESS make it possible to exchange between heterogeneous systems. However, the number of software that can use EXPRESS is limited and it is expensive to use the software. XML makes it possible to update and manage data on the Web. Because the Web is easier to use and access than other tools comparatively, data represented by XML need not depend on specific applications or systems and it can be used for exchange of data. Therefore, if we represent EXPRESS-driven data in XML, there will be more active data exchange widely and easily In this work, a method of translation EXPRESS document to XML DTD and XML Schema is proposed. By classification all of EXPRESS syntax element and consideration complex cases caused by this syntax element, a translation rule that represent XML DTD and XML Schema is suggested. Also, a translator which is corresponding to this rule is implemented.
Metadata Registry was developed to dynamically manage metadata and to increase interoperability between various and heterogeneous metadata. The built metadata registry can be used as a standard guideline for creation of new databases and it provides a radical data integration mechanism. However, in the situation that an enormous databases must be integrated progressively, there is a limit to the existing metadata-based approach. In case that each database has no statistical information for its use rate and the restricted cost is given to us for a unit time, existing metadata-based approaches do not provide how to select some databases to be preferentially integrated and to build a metadata registry progressively, In this paper, we propose a methodology that can create progressively metadata registries in the case. The proposed methodology is based on data visibility and hierarchical metadata registry. We also describe the system that have been developed for applying the methodology to a real domain, and then described its results.
Nowadays as many Grid communities appear, the requirement of singlepoint-to-multipoint data transfer in Grid environment is growing. In a typical LAN or a special purpose network environment, a multicasting technology was used in such a data dissemination transfer case. However, compared with unicasting fouler performance transfer performance the multicating transfer is worse, and the obligation of a special hardware setting makes it difficult to implement in common Grid environment. Therefore, in this paper we propose on effective data dissemination mechanism for Grid environment named DDMG(Data Dissemination Mechanism for Grid), DDMG uses P2P(Peer-to-Peer) mechanism and Globus XIO library to improve the performance in a data dissemination process and to support heterogeneous protocols in Grid environment. We also evaluate the performance of DDMG mechanism in LAN and WAN environment by comparing with unicast transfer.

As an application software in distributed computing environment becomes large, the number of objects to be created increases drastically and the interfaces among them become very complex, The concept of group object resolves this problem to some extent by grouping a set of related objects, encapsulating them and controlling their interfaces systematically. In this paper, we propose an implementation model f the group object concept in CORBA, which is a standard middle ware for developing distributed application software on heterogeneous networks. To support group objects we extends CORBA ORB without modifying its internal structure for the compatibility with existing CORBA applications. And we devise an interface definition language by extending CORBA IDL to describe group objects in a language-independent style, which is one of the most important characteristics in CORBA. Finally, we experiment the implementation model on a CORBA ORB compliant product which supports the Java language.

With the recent development of the ubiquitous computing technology, there are increasing interest and research in technologies such as sensors and RFID related to information recognition and location positioning in various ubiquitous fields. Especially, RTLS(Real-Time Locating Services) dealing with spatio-temporal data is emerging as a promising technology. For these reasons, the ISO/IEC published the RTLS standard specification for compatibility and interoperability in RTLS. Therefore, in this paper, we designed and implemented Spatio-temporal Query Processing Systems for efficiently managing and searching the incoming Spatio-temporal data stream of moving objects. Spatio-temporal Query Processing Systems's spatio-temporal middleware maintains interoperability among heterogeneous devices and guarantees data integrity in query processing through real time processing of unceasing spatio-temporal data streams and two way synchronization of spatio-temporal DBMSs. Web Server uses the SOAP(Simple Object Access Protocol) message between client and server for interoperability and translates client's SOAP message into CQL(Continuous Query Language) of the spatio-temporal middleware. Finally, this thesis proved the utility of the system by applying the spatio-temporal Query Processing Systems to a real-time Locating Services.

In this paper, we propose a real-time video playback scheme for the N-Screen service based on Windows Azure. This scheme creates several playback blocks based on the performance of each node by non-uniform splitting of the original video. To reduce transcoding-time, it allocates the playback blocks to a corresponding node by transcoding the playback blocks. Through the simulation, we show that it is more effective to use real-time video playback for the N-screen service than the previous method. The proposed scheme splits an AVI format 300MB source video with non-uniform playback blocks. It allocates the playback blocks to the heterogeneous node of Windows Azure, the commercial cloud system and measures of transcoding-time by transcoding non-uniform playback blocks to mp4 and Flv format. As a result, the proposed scheme improves the performance of the N-screen service based on Windows Azure compared to the previous uniform split strategy.

Recently, Healthcare system has not been standardized and has been developed as an embedded system lacking interoperability. We are finally going to face such problems as having excessive load in using network caused by the uncontrolled spread of system and un-guaranteed interoperability among the heterogeneous systems. We suggest the possibility that OSGi and JADE can be accepted as a solution for the above problems.

IoT, which can be regarded as an enhanced version of M2M communication technology, was proposed to realize intelligent thing to thing communications by utilizing Internet connectivity. Things in IoT are generally heterogeneous and resource constrained. Also such things are connected with each other over LLN(low power and lossy Network). Confidentiality, mutual authentication and message origin authentication are required to make a secure service in IoT. Security protocols used in traditional IP Networks cannot be directly adopted to resource constrained devices in IoT. Under the respect, a IETF standard group proposes to use lightweight version of DTLS protocol for supporting security services in IoT environments. However, the protocol can not cover up all of very constrained devices. To solve the problem, we propose a scheme which tends to support mutual authentication and session key agreement between devices that contain only a single crypto primitive module such as hash function or cipher function because of resource constrained property. The proposed scheme enhances performance by pre-computing a session key and is able to defend various attacks.

One of the main goals of ubiquitous computing is to share a variety of resources existing to smart space and compose an efficient services by reasoning the most user-suitable resources, However, each applications describe the resources and services in different expression ways and these heterogeneous expression ways make it difficult for sharing and reasoning of the resources. Therefore, it is necessary to unify the information for resources sharing and ontology is one of the solution for the unification. In this paper, we define the possible services in the ubiquitous smart space and its ontology. Also, we propose a resource ontology to represent the usable resources in the space. our ontologies are used to reason resource set for composing user-suitable service in the ubiquitous smart space.

The memory wall is the growing disparity of speed between CPU and memory outside the CPU chip. An economical solution is a memory hierarchy organized into several levels, such as processor registers, cache, main memory, disk storage. We introduce a novel memory hierarchy optimization technique in Linux based embedded systems using on-chip SRAM for the first time. The optimization technique allocates On-Chip SRAM to the code/data that selected by programmers by using virtual memory systems. Experiments performed with nine applications indicate that the runtime improvements can be achieved by up to 35%, with an average of 14%, and the energy consumption can be reduced by up to 40%, with an average of 15%.
