The results were summarized in tables and graphs, and meta-analysis was performed. Results : As a result of setting the herbal medicine alone treatment as an intervention for hyperhidrosis and western medicine alone as the control group, total 8 articles were selected. We analyzed them and got the results. The efficient rate of the treatment group was statistically significantly higher than that of the control group. In addition, adverse events were significantly less in the treatment group than in the control group. Conclusions : We found that oriental herbal medicine was effective and safe for hyperhidrosis.

Pediatric epilepsy, a chronic, recurrent brain disorder, is the most common neurological disorder in children. Its prevalence is increasing. Early management is very important since 30~40% of cases persist into adulthood. To provide basic data for future clinical research on pediatric epilepsy using Korean medicine treatment and cooperation between Western medicine doctors and Korean medicine doctors, we reviewed recent clinical research in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) using herbal medicine for pediatric epilepsy. A total of 23 articles (1 clinical practice guideline, 3 systematic reviews, 15 randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and 4 non-RCTs) were reviewed in this study. The authors summarized characteristics of included studies regarding study subjects, diagnostic tools, pattern identification tools, treatment period, evaluation tools, detail of herbal medicines, treatment effects, and adverse events. Combination therapy using both herbal medicine (HM) and anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) was performed more frequently than herbal medicine alone. Liver-pacifying medicinal, water-draining medicine, and orifice-opening medicine were frequently used. The main single HMs were Cheonma, Boglyeong, Jogudeung, and Seogchangpo. Combined therapy using HM and AEDs had significant benefits in improving total effective rate. It also appeared to be safer than AEDs. However, since the quality of clinical trials was poor and only studies in the last 10 years were included, the clinical evidence was uncertain. Finally, the authors provided limitations of this study and several suggestions for future research based on our analysis results.
Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of combination treatment of herbal medicine for external use and western medicine for atopic dermatitis (AD). Methods: We searched randomized controlled trials (RCTs) which assess the effect of combination treatment of herbal and western medicine for AD through 8 electronic databases from the start to December 2022. The data synthesis was conducted by using Review Manager (RevMan, ver.5.4.1) and Cochrane risk-of-bias tool was used to evaluate the risk of bias. Results: 13 RCTs were included. The combination treatment group had significantly higher total efficacy rate(p<0.0001) and lower SCORAD score (p<0.00001) than the western medicine treatment group. The adverse event rate was also significantly lower in the combination treatment than the western medicine treatment group (p<0.0001). But there was no significant difference in recurrence rate (p=0.09). Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the combination treatment of herbal and western medicine could be safe and effective for AD. However, due to limits of included studies such as high heterogeneity between the literature and unclear risk of bias, further studies are warranted.
Objectives The purpose of this study was to analyze the trend of recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that used herbal medicine for the treatment of tic disorders in China and to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the treatment. Methods RCTs published from January 2017 to December 2021 were searched for using the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). These were then analyzed using herbal medicine treatment methods and their results. Results A total of 35 randomized controlled trials were selected and analyzed. In most studies, evaluation indicators such as the Yale tic symptom scale and total effective rate were significantly improved in the herbal medicine treatment group compared to the control group. The most commonly used herb for tic disorder was Uncaria Rhynchophylla (釣鉤藤), followed by Glycyrrhizae Radix (甘草), Gastrodiae Rhizoma (天麻), Paeoniae Radix Alba (白芍藥), Batryticatus (白殭蠶), Poria (茯笭), and Bupleuri Radix (柴胡). In all studies that reported adverse events, herbal medicine was identified as a relatively safe treatment with fewer adverse reactions or no significant difference compared with the control group. Conclusions Based on the results of RCTs, herbal medicine has been shown to be safe and effective for the treatment of intellectual disability. However, additional well-designed large-scale clinical trials are needed to confirm these findings.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to report the clinical effects of Korean herbal medicine and Chimsband treatment in patients with allergic purpura. Methods 4-year-old female patients, who were suffering from allergic purpura were treated by Korean herbal medicine (Samul-tang hap Yukmijihwang-tang gami) and Chimsband treatment. Also, photographs were used to check the improvement. Results After treating for 15 days, the patients' allergic purpura were improved by Korean herbal medicine and Chimsband treatment. Conclusions This study showed that Korean medical treatments could be an effective treatment option in treating allergic purpura.

Objectives : Pityriasis rosea is an acute and subacute papular scaly disease, and is a disease that mainly resolves spontaneously. However, since the outbreak of COVID-19, the possibility that the disease may occur as a sequelae of the disease and side effects of vaccination has been announced. Methods : We searched articles related to oriental treatment of pityriasis rosea at organized in domestic and foreign DBs. Articles were searched for RCT. The results were summarized in tables and graphs, and meta-analysis was performed. Also, we assessed the risk or bias. Results : As a result of setting the herbal medicine alone treatment as an intervention for pityriasis rosea and Western medicine alone as the control group, total 9 articles were searched. We analyzed them and got the results. The efficient rate of the treatment group was statistically significantly higher than that of the control group. In addition, adverse events were significantly less in the treatment group than in the control group. Conclusions : Herbal medicine treatment can be more effective than Western therapy(mainly anti-histamines and glycyrrhizin injection) for pityriasis rosea. In addition, herbal medicine treatment can be superior to Western treatment for safety. However, the limitations of this study include the small number of articles, no other evaluation indicators other than the efficient rate, and insufficient data such as pathological examination.
