저주파수 흡음을 위한 헬름홀쯔 공명기 배열형 패널 (A Helmholtz Resonator Array Panel for Low Frequency Sound Absorption)

  • Sound absorptive materials have good performance in high frequency range, not at low frequencies. Therefore it has been great challenge to develop a sound absorbing structure that is good at low frequency. We propose to use a Helmholtz resonator array panel for this purpose. A Helmholtz resonator is one of noise control elements widely used in many practical applications. The resonator is a simple structure composed of a rigid-walled cavity with a neck, but it has very high performance at resonance frequency. This paper discusses the sound absorption of Helmholtz resonator array panels at normal and random incidence. First, various experimental results are introduced and studied. Secondly, we theoretically predict the absorptive characteristics of the resonator away panel. The theoretical approach is based on the Fourier analysis for a periodic absorber. We believe that this method can be used to design a panel for low frequency noise control.

헬름홀츠 공진기에 따른 버너내의 음향장에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Simulation of the Acoustic Field in a Burner with Helmholtz Resonators)

  • A study was performed to understand self-excited pressure fluctuations in the lean premixed flames and to evaluate the effect of Helmholtz resonator on the pressure fluctuations. As low-frequency pressure fluctuations have been reported to cause fatal damage to the combustor and the entire system, Helmholtz-type resonators, which reduce the damage by low-frequency pressure fluctuation in the combustor, are attached to the channel of unburned mixture flow. It is found that the range of low-frequency pressure fluctuations of flame mode 2 is narrowed by the attachment of Helmholtz resonators. From this result, if Helmholtz-type resonators are applied to actual gas turbine combustor, it is confirmed that Helmholtz resonators attached on the fuel discharge hole are also effective for narrowing the range of flame mode 2

  • Precise prediction of resonance frequency has been the subject of numerous papers related to Helmholtz resonator design because of its high performance at the frequency. The resonance frequency is dependent upon not only the internal dimensions of resonator but also the external boundary conditions such as the existence of other resonators in Helmholtz resonator array panel. However, the latter effect, which changes the external end correction of resonator, has not been well studied. We propose a formula to calculate the radiation impedance (or external end correction) of Helmhoitz resonator array panel. Any distance between adjacent resonators and any angle of Incidence can be allowed in the method. Numerical examples show how and how much the distance affects the resonance frequency of the panel. It is also found that the maximum absorption of the panel varies with the resonator arrangement.

  • A Helmholtz resonator is one of noise control elements widely used in many practical applications. The resonator has very high absorption at resonance frequency but the frequency bandwidth is very small. Therefore many kinds of additional resistive screens have been applied to the resonator's neck in order to increase the bandwidth. This paper discusses the absorptive characteristics of a Helmholtz resonator damped by a flexible porous screen in form of wire mesh. First, various experimental results are introduced and studied. Secondly, the effect of the resistive screen is theoretically predicted. It is shown that the distance between the screen and aperture affects on the resonance frequency as well as the absorption of the system.

In order to overcome these problems, in the paper, a resonator combined with porous material is proposed. The absorption performances of resonators are measured by two-microphone method and estimated by transfer matrix method. The experimentally measured values of normal absorption coefficients agree well with the corresponding values from the transfer matrix method. Because of the porous material, it is shown that the absorption performance have been significantly improved in the anti-resonance frequency and high frequency bandwidth.

  • 이 연구는 헬름홀쯔 공명기 구조를 갖는 매미 소리의 중심주파수에 주요 영향을 주는 발음기관이 무엇인지를 최초로 초고속영상분석을 통해 규명하는 데 목적이 있다. 말매미와 참매미를 대상으로 소리를 녹음 후 분석하였고, 초고속카메라로 촬영한 진동막의 움직임을 분석하여 소리의 주파수와 진동막 운동 사이의 관계를 비교하였다. 연구결과, 말매미와 참매미 모두 유인음과 비명음의 주파수분포에는 차이가 거의 없었으며, 말매미의 진동막은 3개, 참매미의 진동막은 1개 모드로 진동하였다. 두 매미 모두 양쪽 진동막의 진동수에는 차이가 나타나지 않았으며, 말매미의 진동막의 3개 진동 모드는 서로 다른 진동수 대역의 소리가 발생하였다. 두 매미 모두 진동막의 진동수 대역과 유인음의 중심주파수 대역이 매우 유사하였다. 결론적으로, 헬름홀쯔 공명기 구조를 갖는 매미 소리의 주파수는 복부의 공명조건보다는 진동막의 모드별 진동수에 의해 결정되는 것으로 추정된다.

  • Helmholtz resonator is widely used acoustic instrument which has high absorption characteristics at its resonance frequency. Particularly it maintains good performance even in the low frequency region that is difficult to control by general porous absorptive materials. However, under severely high sound pressure level, the absorption characteristics are changed by increase of resistance due to nonlinear behavior of neck impedance. Because of this nonlinear behavior, it is difficult to obtain the expected absorption performance under high sound pressure environment. Thus, in order to prevent excessive rise of resistance, the resonator with neck having cross section dimension decrease away from the entry of the resonator cavity could be suggested. This paper introduces the experiment method and results about nonlinear characteristics of Helmholtz resonator with tapered neck and proposes the approximate nonlinear impedance model.

  • 연소불안정현상은 주로 음향파와 열방출률 섭동간의 상호작용에 의해 발생한다고 알려져 있다. 이러한 현상은 헬름홀츠 공진기와 같은 수동제어기를 사용하여 감소시킬 수 있다. 그러나 헬름홀츠 공진기는 일반적으로 좁은 주파수대역에 대해서만 효과가 있는 단점을 가진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다양한 작동 범위에서 효과를 가질 수 있도록 피스톤을 사용하여 헬름홀츠 공진기의 부피를 변화시켜가며 연소불안정현상에 적용하였다. 그 결과 피스톤을 최적 위치인 40mm에 동조시킴으로써 연소 불안정 모드의 진폭을 크게 감소시킬 수 있었다. 그리고, 연소기와 헬름홀츠 공진기 사이의 동압의 위상차가 흥미로운 관계에 있음을 나타내었다. 또한 헬름홀츠 공진식과 위상차를 이용한 능동적으로 동조되는 수동제어방식에 대해 알아보았다.

  • 액체로켓엔진에서 고주파 연소불안정의 제어를 위해 연소 안정화 장치인 음향공을 적용하여, 제한된 공간에서 유동장의 특성과 설계인자에 따른 감쇠효과를 연구하였다. 연소 불안정을 모사하기 위하여 제한된 공간에 압력 진동 장치를 이용하여 공진을 발생시켜, 음향공의 장착에 따른 감쇠 효과를 측정하였다. 유동장의 특성중 하나인 유속을 변화시키기 위하여 유량을 변화시켰으며, 설계인자로는 음향공 오리피스의 직경과 길이를 변화시켜 연구를 수행하였다. 유동장 하에서의 음향공 장착에 따른 감쇠효과를 확인 하였으며, 오리피스 길이와 직경이 작을 경우 유속 증가에 따라서 음향공의 튜닝이 오른쪽(고주파수)으로 이동하는 현상을 확인하였다.
