  • This paper describe the design and fabrication of a Multilayer helical antenna for PCS cellular phone. It has been designed for commercial PCS cellular phone by HP-HFSS and fabricated with diameter of 7.6mm and height of 9mm. As a result, the antenna was well-operated in the frequency ranges of 1.75~1.87㎓ for the application of PCS system. We obtained omni-directional radiation pattern, gain of -0.9㏈i and bandwidth of 180MHz.

  • For HF antenna, whip antenna with 6m length or more has been used generally. In this paper, we suggest a new HF antenna which is smaller than commercial HF whip antenna. The shape of the proposed antenna is "ㄷ" and the size of the antenna is $1m{\times}2m$. The feature of the antenna has been simulated by NECWin tools.

  • In this paper, we designed a loading sleeve monopole operating at PCS and IMT-2000 frequency bands using the structure of the broadband loading sleeve monopole. The length of the designed antenna is lower than that of the helical antenna coupled with a whip used in commercial PCS handsets. The length and diameter of the designed antenna are 38 mm and 8 mm, respectively. The designed loading sleeve monopole is fabricated and investigated experimently. The VSWR is less than 1.5 in the PCS and IMT-2000 frequency bands(1750 MHz~2170 MHz) and gain is 3.5 dBi.

Mode Identification in the Design of Wideband Cylindrical Monopole Antenna

  • Cylindrical monopole antenna is one of most promising candidates for multi-band applications such as PCS, WLAN, DMB, and UWB wireless services. In this research, we demonstrate that there exist two types of current distributions according to the exciting frequency in a double band cylindrical monopole antenna, in which double resonance is achieved by adjusting the coupling structure of the antenna base. The operating modes of current distributions are identified from CST software simulations, the standing wave mode in a lower band and the traveling wave mode in a higher band. Also it is noticed that the mode behavior is quite similar to a helical antenna, a standing-wave (resonance) mode and a traveling-wave (non-resonance) mode according to the electrical dimensions of antenna. The effective ranges for operating modes and design formulas of the double band antenna are derived from simulation and measured results.

  • This paper is about design of optimal structure of microstrip dielectric ceramic antenna with rectangular electrode patches in accordance with the cavity model and fabrication of its prototype sample operating at the frequency of 900 MHz. Results of this work can be employed as a useful too to develop and diversify ceramic antenna having superior performance and omni-directivity to that of current helical antenna.

  • 본 논문에서는 휴대용 무선통신기기에 장착해서 사용가능한 소형 위성 DMB 안테나를 설계하였다. 안테나 디자인은 QHA(Quadrifilar Helical Antenna)이며 소형화를 위해 안테나 패턴을 유전체위에 감고 각 패턴의 가운데가 분리된 형상을 하고 있다. 시뮬레이션 결과에 따라 안테나가 실제 제작 되고 측정되었다.

  • In this paper, designed and fabricated the microstrip antenna using parasitic plane. This active antenna for the use of AM/FM, DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), GPS(Global Positioning System) band in vehicle. Fabricated active antenna was compared to existing planar antenna represents more than 15% size reduction and equivalence performance compared to commercial helical antenna. And satisfy performance in DMB, GPS band. This active antenna composed of single input port and two output ports and entire size of antenna is $133{\times}31{\times}1.2mm$.

Impedance Matching of Electrically Small Antenna with Ni-Zn Ferrite Film

  • We demonstrate that a partial loading of $Ni_{0.5}Zn_{0.5}Fe_2O_4$ (Ni-Zn ferrite) film remarkably improves impedance matching of electrically small $Ba_3Co_2Fe_{24}O_{41}$ ($Co_2Z$) hexaferrite antenna. A 3 ${\mu}m$ thick Ni-Zn ferrite film was deposited on a silicon wafer by the electrophoresis deposition process and post-annealed at $400^{\circ}C$. The fabricated Ni-Zn ferrite film has saturation magnetization of $268emu/cm^3$ and coercivity of 89 Oe. A partial loading of the Ni-Zn ferrite film on the $Co_2Z$ hexaferrite helical antenna increases antenna return loss to 24.7 dB from 9.0 dB of the $Co_2Z$ antenna. Experimental results show that impedance matching and maximum input power transmission to the antenna without additional matching elements can be realized, while keeping almost the same size as the $Co_2Z$ antenna size.

  • The Ku band that has been using for the satellite communication and broadcasting would be changed to K/Ka bands. The satellite system requires the antenna structure to fabricate low loss and small antenna that is able to be integrated with other Rf circuits for both Rx and Tx. So we should design it with dual feed antennas at K/Ka bands, high isolation between two different feeds and broadband circular polarization. This paper proposes the LTCC(Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) process for integration with other Rf circuits and the Axial mode of the helical antenna to satisfy those requirements.
