LiDAR, unlike satellite imagery and aerial photographs, which provides irregularly distributed three-dimensional coordinates of ground surface, enables three-dimensional modeling. In this study, urban area was classified based on 3D information collected by LiDAR. Morphological and spatial properties are determined by the ratio of ground and non-ground point that are estimated with the number of ground reflected point data of LiDAR raw data. With this information, the residential and forest area could be classified in terms of height and density of trees. The intensity of the signal is distinguished by a statistical method, Jenk's Natural Break. Vegetative area (high or low density) and non-vegetative area (high or low density) are classified with reflective ratio of ground surface.

Purpose: Injury is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality for children. As an injury prevention measure, the differences in external causes of severe pediatric injuries based on ICECI were analyzed according to age groups. Methods: A retrospective study was performed for pediatric patients under 15 years of age, who had been admitted to the emergency department with severe injuries from January 1998 to December 2004. The external causes of injury were investigated according to the ICECI: intent, mechanisms, places of occurrence, objects/substances producing injury, and related activities. The patients were divided into four groups based on age: infant (<0 year), toddler (1~4 years), preschool age (5~8 years), and school age (9~15 years). Results: The injury mechanisms, the places of occurrence and the related objects/substances vary with the age groups. The most common subtype of traffic accidents was pedestrian injury in pre-school age group. Falls most frequently occurred in the toddler group. But falls from a height of less than l meter height (6 patients) occurred only in the infant group. The most common place of occurrence in the infant group was the home, and that of other groups was the road. The related objects/substances for falls, for example, household furnitures and playground equipment depended on the age group. Conclusion: The age-group specific characteristics of severe pediatric injury were analyzed successfully through the ICECI. Therefore, when establishing a plan for the prevention of pediatric injury, consideration must be given to the differences in the external causes of injuries according to age group.

The calculation of earthwork plays a major role in plan or design of many civil engineering projects, and thus it has become very important to advanced the accuracy of earthwork calculation. Current methods used for estimating the volume of pit excavation assumes that the ground profile between the grid points is linear(trapezoidal rule), or nonlinear(simpson's formulas). Generally speaking. the nonlinear profile formulas provide better accuracy than the linear profile formulas. However, all the formulas mentioned have a common drawback to ground profile, such as sharp corners or the grid points of any two straight lines. In this paper, mathematical model for a searching examination the drawbacks of the current methods is presented. Also, the presented formular, the spot height method, and chamber formulas, chen and lin method are compared with the volumes of the pits in these examples. As a result of this study, algorithm of a proposal area formula by spline method should provide a better accuracy than the spot height method, chamber formulas, chen and lin method. The mathematical model mentioned make an offer maximum accuracy in estimating the volume of a pit excavation.
This study aims to investigate the characteristics of the vegetation structure in the sectin stretching between the Jilmoi wetlands and the Donghae Observatory and to set the criteria for the basic data for a management plan including restoration afterwards. 12 plots($10m{\times}40m$, $20m{\times}20m$) were set up to analyse the vegetation structure. The analysis of the classification by TWINSPAN and ordination by DCA, importance percentage and property, distribution of diameter of breast height, growth increments of major woody species, species diversity and the physicochemical properties of soil were all analyzed. Vegetation classes were divided into 3 communities, which are community I (Pinus densiflora community), community II (Quercus mongolica community) and community III (Quercus mongolica-Tilia amurensis community). The P. densiflora community declined when competing with Q. mongolica and Fraxinus rhynchophylla and Q. mongolica competed with T. amurensis on an understory layer in Q. mongolica community. Q. mongolica competed with T. amurensis on both canopy and understory layers in Q. mongolica-T. amurensis community. P. densiflora declined and it was assumed to succeed to F. rhynchophylla or T. amurensis through Q. mongolica based on the importance percentage and distribution of the diameter of the breast height of small and middle sized trees. The age of P. densiflora was between 47 to 51 years old and Q. mongolica was 61years old. T. amurensis was 61 years old and the growth of Q. mongolica slowed a little. As the result of Shannon's index of species diversity, community I ranged from 0.9578 to 1.1862, community II ranged from 0.7904 to 1.2286 and community III ranged from 0.8701 to 1.0323. The contents of organic matter and cation were low compared to uncultivated mountain soil and it were analysed to be inappropriate for tree growth.

Recently, there have been many cases in which the difficulty of repair and replacement of principal elements in the bearing wall structure for apartment buildings, which is a major part of apartment buildings in Korea, has led to the reconstruction of buildings rather than their remodeling. To address this problem, the Korea government now allows a floor area ratio of up to 20 %, and has relaxed the building height limits to encourage the use of a rahmen structure instead of a bearing wall structure. However, since reinforced concrete rahmen structures have many problems, including higher floor height and greater construction cost, a great deal of research into rahmen composite precast concrete structures have been conducted. Green Frame, one of the developed prototypes, is expected to provide economic benefits through in-situ production for precast concrete column and beam. For in-situ production of composite precast concrete members, a detailed plan for production, curing, and installation is needed. However, it needs to be confirmed that the space is sufficient to produce the precast concrete members on-site before planning those activities. Therefore, this study proposes in-situ production analysis of composite precast concrete members of Green Frame with the evaluation of structural safety and available area on the parking structure. The result of this study shows that the in-situ production of precast concrete members is possible through a case study.
In order to advance forest resource management, it is necessary to solve problems such as the aging of forest-related industry workers and the field investigation system centered on manpower. Therefore, in this study, the trend of establishment and utilization of overseas forest geospatial information applied with the latest technology for scientific forest resource management was investigated to identify the domestic application plan. Overseas, photogrammetry and LiDAR technologies were being used to construct and utilize forest geospatial information. In the case of photogrammetry, it was used to measure the volume of vegetation, diameter, and tree height. And LiDAR technology has been applied to the measurement of diameter, and tree height. Through the analysis of overseas cases, it was identified how to construct forest geospatial information using photogrammetry and LiDAR, and it was found that LiDAR showed higher accuracy than photogrammetry. In the future, if the construction of forest geospatial information using various LiDAR sensors are performed and the accuracy and work efficiency are analyzed, it will be possible to present the possibility of using new technologies in the construction of forest geospatial information in Korea.

This study explores the causes and processes of morphological transformation of apartment complexes in Busan. All apartment complexes built until the year 2016 were selected for statistical analysis, drawing/map examination, field observation, selected expert interviews based on 6 periodical groups: Period I(~1990), Period II(1991~1995), Period III(1996~2000), Period IV(2001~2005), Period V(2006~2010), and Period VI(2011~2016). The research argues for three 'arrangement' types, P1U, L1U and P2U, which have dominated the whole periods occupying 88% of the total 260 complexes. The switch of the leading type represents for morphological transformation of apartment complexes. Four aspects, density(F.A.R.), height(maximum number of floors), deformed-building-type ratio, and building-orientation, have affected the change of 'arrangement' types. Density was the major cause of the arrangement-type switch, from P1U to L1U, on Period II(1991~1995). The morphological change, from type L1U to P2U, on Period V(2006~2010) was caused by height and orientation, and is correlated with the increased number of deformed-type buildings. The first phase morphological change on Period II(1991~1995) was resulted by the supply side of apartment. However, the second phase transformation on Period V(2006~2010) had gone through the complex process including reflection of consumers' demands. The significance of research is to reveal the morphological transformation process of apartment complexes through analytical investigation of the entire apartment data in Busan. The result shows that the major change of urban paysage started to occur from Period V(2006~2010), and the superficial evaluation on apartment 'being monotonous and repetitive' may not be proper at least from the perspective of town plan.
In a tall reinforced concrete (RC) core wall system subjected to strong ground motions, inelastic behavior near the base as well as mid-height of the wall is possible. Generally, the formation of plastic hinge in a core wall system may lead to extensive damage and significant repairing cost. A new configuration of core structures consisting of buckling restrained braced frames (BRBFs) and RC walls is an interesting idea in tall building seismic design. This concept can be used in the plan configuration of tall core wall systems. In this study, tall buildings with different configurations of combined core systems were designed and analyzed. Nonlinear time history analysis at severe earthquake level was performed and the results were compared for different configurations. The results demonstrate that using enough BRBFs can reduce the large curvature ductility demand at the base and mid-height of RC core wall systems and also can reduce the maximum inter-story drift ratio. For a better investigation of the structural behavior, the probabilistic approach can lead to in-depth insight. Therefore, incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) curves were calculated to assess the performance. Fragility curves at different limit states were then extracted and compared. Mean IDA curves demonstrate better behavior for a combined system, compared with conventional RC core wall systems. Collapse margin ratio for a RC core wall only system and RC core with enough BRBFs were almost 1.05 and 1.92 respectively. Therefore, it appears that using one RC core wall combined with enough BRBF core is an effective idea to achieve more confidence against tall building collapse and the results demonstrated the potential of the proposed system.

This paper describes computer-aided forging design for rib/web shaped parts. In manufacturing a part by means of forging process, the first step is to design the forging. This is done by modifying the given machined part geometry according to the requirements of the forging process. Traditionally, this is done by experienced forging designers using empirical forging design guidelines. Generally, it would be neither possible nor practical to develop a system which encompasses the design of all types of forgings. Accordingly, forging design can be simplified by considering critical two dimensional cross sections of the machined part geometry. This system is composed of three modules(process variable decision module, forging design module and redesign module) and each module is carried out in regular sequence. In the process variable decision module, first of all, the undercut is checked and modified, and then deep recesses and holes difficult to forge are eliminated. Also parting line, forging plane, forging plan view area, forging weight and maximum size(maximum height or width)are determined. In the forging design module, the magnitude of various allowances, draft angle, minimum web thickness, corner and fillet radius are determined and then geometry modification is performed. Finally, since the design rules and databases used in this system are based on parameters of the forging geometry, such as the trimmed forging plan area, forging weight, forging maxmum size, plausible estimates need to be made for these parameters. Therefore, in the re-design module, the design process is iterated until a satisfactory forging is obtained.

This study investigated the influential range of landmarks and the relationship between landmarks and cognition factor so as to offer basic data to be used for the effective use and the management of landmarks. In this study, eighteen famous landmark in Seoul were selected and analyzed. The result of this study can be summarized as follows : 1) First, eighteen determining elements of cognition factors were selected via documents survey. Second, general cognition factors of landmarks were analysed using these elements through questionnaires to specialists. As a result of factor analysis, historic cultural factor, scale factor, visual form factor, locational factor and uniqueness factor were revealed. 2) According to revealed cognition factor, eighteen landmarks are categorized into four types using MDS method via questionnaire to resident in Seoul city. These four types of landmarks are: type I that are recognized by historic cultural factor; type II that are recognized by scale factor; type III that are recognized by uniqueness factor; and type IV that are recognized by visual form factor. 3) As the result of regression, the influential range of landmarks were revealed at about a 10km radius(type I : 12km type II : whole area of Seoul city≒15km, typeIII : 8.7km, typeIV : 8.5km). 4) As a result of analysing the correlation between the influential range and the cognition factor through multiple linear regression analysis, the locational factor is the main factor affecting the influential range of landmarks in every type. The uniqueness factor comes next, which affects influential range partially. 5) Except type 1, as a result of analysing the correlation between influential range and the physical heights of landmarks, a quadratic equation is revealed, showing that the influential range of landmarks over 200 meters in height shows a radical change. Landmarks can be used as reinforcement tools of legibility, effective tools for landscape management and for the improvement of a community's image. This study on the influential range of landmarks and main cognition factor can be utilized as a landmark management plan and in urban planning, such as a new town plan.
